Good day. I am Julio. I will be talking about communication in relationship today.
Communication simply mean a message either written or oral which contains information's or means of passing an information which entails the sender, the receiver, and the message itself.

Communication is very important and functional set up of a relationship; in relating, building minds, thoughts, friendship, determinations and results. Communication also intensifies the need to make relationships inhabitable and conducive for both partners in achieving their common goals in life. There are difference between love and communication, trust and cares, to a great extent, I have learnt that an individual can love and trust even to the point of being caring, but do not have a great relationship mentality with their partners. I'm going to talk exemplify the importance of communication in a relationship which is going to last a while; though, we have so many aspect of communication, let's focus on the importance at the moment and we have all day to take it one after the other.

IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION IN A WELL DEFINED RELATIONSHIP

1. It gives room for closeness: Closeness or being close denotes being part of someone, having an affectionate closeness, intimacy(related to being close by a special bond), an adage which explained as closeness of a soap with leaves makes it soap after a long time being together. In this reaction, closeness is a fundamental element and status quo of a well defined relationship, its very advisable for all partners which helps you share your differences, weakened points, attitudes, ambitions and goals, possibly how to build the future together, just saying that. It makes paradise closer than what it is. Closeness is the heat that chases always coldness in the winter, it removes blanket when you are in the snow, it brings you together when you are lost in your own way, it exposes the secret behind unhappiness, it enlightens your sense of humor and makes you feel comfortable, it enables your mind to concentrate on other things rather than insecurities in your relationship and will give you a balanced mind even at the point of trouble.

See this: how to become closer in a relationship

2. It sweeps aside fear and sensitivity:. This simply implies that communication chases away fear. Let me ask you a question, can you cope with a guy whom you are afraid to to look in the eye? Your simple answer will be '' hell NO" But so many people especially women have found themselves languishing in fear daily and they cannot speak up by themselves until someone comes up and do that for them. Why? If you ask them, they will tell you that they have a perfect relationship with their spouse after all its only communication they lacked. Interesting
To some extent, people in that shoe prefers sending messages on mobile phones or email, even write in piece of jotters, oh I can't face him, he is too much of himself or he talks to me anyhow. I don't want that. That ain't communication its just a mere disturbance. When you are always sensitive about things in your relationship or afraid to take decisions believing the other party won't take it lightly with you, then, you are already drowned, it only a miracle can help you come out of this mess, just how it is, that how it will be forever until you decide to lift yourself from this, if your wrong past is what keeps lingering in his heart or you don't wanna lose him, it shouldn't stop your interaction as lovers, speak up, if you are this type of mess, everything is supposed to go on smoothly even if its not all the time. Remove fear and sensitivity and your relationship will take a definite shape.

See this: how to put aside fear and sensitivity in a relationship

3. The make up of a relationship:- it exposes weakness of individuals and strengthen them, there are mistakes and corrections, no relationship is made from heaven, no matter how divinely chosen they might be, it has ups and downs, that's why its called relationships, in the sense that they relate together in a ship like colony, they aren't separated, they act and behave together, no matter the storm offenses, they stick together, they are balanced through harsh and bitter weather, they enjoy the breeze and the evening sunlight, if anything happens, they sink together. That's why its called relationship. During this, it exposes their weakness all because they are open to each other including their priorities and ego's, opinions, likes, dislikes, emotionality and rigidity. They don't give up on each other, and they strengthen the weakened vessel of individual so it won't show up to outsiders, that's why it works for them, let me cite this example, if a man knows his wife isn't capable of handling some home chores all alone, instead of taking in an house maid, they might reached and agreement to help each other in doing that, I call it understanding which can only be obtained through proper and blended communication. Denoting our weakness and working on them makes us stronger, and this is effective when there is lubricated communication between the pair.

READ THIS: Denoting your spouse weak points and working on them

4. Reduces anxiety and helps develop ideas:- Communication makes room for talks and discussions which exposes heavy burdens on the heart or particular workplace issues, when you have an heavy heart, you have someone to discus that with, it suppresses, anxiety often lead to depression, which, in every way very dangerous for individuals well being, if you see someone to discus your issues with, at the right time, you may be satisfied to some extent, even if it wasn't the solution you need, at least, someone cares. It cools your Spanglish nerves and keep you balanced for the next task.
Developing ideas and maintaining them are also included in communication, they help you think straight and evolve ideas which is gonna be beneficial to the both parties. You discuss heart to heart words, and look for every means to acquire what you desire. Now let me ask you this, if you guys aren't communicating, how are you going to achieved that?

READ THIS: Developing ideas and working on it in a well defined relationship

5. Trust is involved, Cheating is evicted: In a smooth all day communed relationship, you are expected to trust each other completely, without grudges or sentiments, trust is the fundamental background or a foundation to effect a lasting affection between couples of same motives and direction. The moment you trust your spouse, everything becomes what they are supposed to be, cheating and offenses will be extinguished, you are one in love, you share whatever happens in the offices, on the street, they are not burying any secret, which ever or whatever, they relate as kids to parent, they are not afraid to be opened to each other, absolutely, they believe they are on safer hands, they build their relationship with confidence and relationship, so tell me, why would cheating creep in? Why would you hide something from each other when there is sunshine to light your way when your heart is darkened. All you believe is, he won't do that, she won't hurt me or act that way.
Third parties can influence something detrimental to this effect but being careful and trust will surely chase away fear and emotional disturbance. I'm not saying that there won't be hidden secrets(both parties do that occasionally) but there should be no hidden agenda. If your wall is not opened, lapses and cheating will be exempted. In this, you can cheat your partner not be by having extra marital affairs.

Hope you are able to flow with my write up. Don't mind my punctuation. I remain your host. Adecy julio

Lassa Fever: Minister of health Says Health Workers Responsible For Their Deaths

The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole on Saturday attributed the increasing number of Health worker getting infected with Lassa Fever to their refusal to take necessary precaution while treating patients in hospitals.

Adewole who stated this in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State when he paid a courtesy call on the state Governor, Chief David Umahi described the recent outbreak in the state which killed 4 Medical health workers as unfortunate.

According to the Minister most doctors don't treat the deadly disease as if if is any other ordinary disease and this fail to wear protective medical apparels while treating patients.

” What is worrisome is that when doctors and healthcare workers become infected then the country is in danger because everyone person that will go and meet that doctor or nurse is at risk”

<img alt=" Health workers responsible for their deaths.
‘ I want to say that up till today no health care worker has contacted Lassa at Irrua Specialist Hospital, Edo state because if you take precaution, wear gloves before you take blood, wear gloves before you operate, you can’t catch Lassa fever”.

“Lassa fever requires close contact between the blood of an infected person and healthcare workers looking out for him. Once you wear gloves, wear protective gown, you can’t have Lassa fever. but we have discovered is that Doctors and Nurses treat Lassa as if it is just ordinary flu or malaria, but it is not”, the Minister said.

He blamed the delay to fully equip the Virology Centre Abakaliki which was built and handed over to the federal government on outbreak of other deadly disease across the country to other pressing issues like monkey pox.

“It quite unfortunate that you handed the centre over to us but because of a few other things we could not respond immediately with the operationalization of the lab”.

“As we moved to operationalize the lab we had other challenges, we had monkey pox, we had meningitis and it appeared as if in trying to prioritize we thought lassa has calm down a bit, we decided to quickly address these diseases and also yellow fever outbreak”, he added.

Responding, Umahi represented by his Deputy, Kelechi Igwe said sixteen cases have been recorded in the state.

“Nine cases have been confirmed, six are suspected cases, one is a probable index case. Eight of them are at the Virology Centre Abakaliki while one is in Irrua Specialist Hospital, Edo state”

He noted that three of the confirmed cases have been successfully treated and discharged.

He said the state is committed to improving the health of the people and promised that the state will continue to partner with the Federal Government in this regard. Ends

Bruno Mars, who has revived retro funk and R&B for a new generation, on Sunday swept the Grammy Awards in a surprise snub for the hip-hop world, which had hoped for a major breakthrough on the music industry’s biggest night.

The industry seized on its annual gala to rally on behalf of the growing women’s movement against sexual harassment, with pop singer Kesha delivering a fierce performance about her own abuse story.
But for the awards, the feel-good Mars carried the night.
He won the top prize, Album of the Year, for “24K Magic” as well as Record of the Year, which recognizes top tune, for the title track — a tale of good times with beautiful women set to 1980s-style synths and rhythms.

The Recording Academy, the body of 13,000 music professionals, also gave him Song of the Year, which awards songwriting, for another track on the album — “That’s What I Like,” an old-school ode to making love in high style.
The 32-year-old singer, sporting a bright smile and sunglasses, recalled how he first performed as a child for tourists in his native Hawaii.
“I remember seeing it firsthand — people dancing that had never met each other from two sides of the globe, dancing with each other, toasting with each other, celebrating together,” he said.
“All I wanted to do with this album was that,” he told thousands of industry players at Madison Square Garden in New York, where the Grammys temporarily shifted after 15 years in Los Angeles.

– Anti-climax for rap –
Mars won all of the awards for which he was in the running on what was expected to be a major night for hip-hop, which for the first time dominated nominations for the major categories.
But the industry either preferred Mars, or the vote for rappers split.
Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, who had led with eight nominations, ended the night empty-handed.
Kendrick Lamar for the second time swept all rap categories but failed to win the general prizes.
His five awards included Best Rap Album for “DAMN.,” a turn to a classic hip-hop sound.
Lamar opened the televised gala with a frenetic show, spitting out his verses as he was joined by U2 frontman Bono amid a sea of kung fu dancers who later fell to the ground as if struck by bullets.
– No longer ‘pretend-winning’ in shower –
Alessia Cara, who rose from making YouTube videos in her bedroom to becoming a socially conscious pop singer, won the closely watched award of Best New Artist.
“I’ve been pretend-winning Grammys since I was a kid in my shower,” the 21-year-old from suburban Toronto told the gala.
“I just wanted to encourage everyone to support real music and real artists because everyone deserves the same shot,” Cara added.
Cara has quickly found her voice as a singer with singles such as “Here,” which describes the dread of forced emotions at a party, and “Scars to Your Beautiful,” a call for healthy body image.
– Rallying for women –
Amid rising attention to gender discrimination in the entertainment industry following revelations of sexual misconduct by Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, top stars — notably Lady Gaga — walked the red carpet wearing white roses in solidarity with abuse victims and in an appeal for equality.
Kesha — whose pleas to break a deal with her producer, whom she accused of rape, initially fell on deaf ears in the industry — brought some audience members to tears with her deeply personal song “Praying.”
Her face intense and her voice ferocious, Kesha sang the autobiographical lyrics: “After everything you’ve done / I can thank you for how strong I have become.”
A clutch of female vocalists including Cyndi Lauper offered her both symbolic and literal support, with Kesha embracing the group in a bear-hug as she finished.
Singer Janelle Monae, introducing Kesha, said that the music industry needed to address its own abuse problems.
“To those who would dare try and silence us, we offer you two words: Time’s Up!” Monae said, using a slogan for the movement launched on New Year’s Day by hundreds of prominent women in the entertainment industry.
Rapper Logic added his own voice later on stage, telling women: “Stand tall and crush all predators under the weight of your heart that is full of the love they will never take away from you.”
The Grammys also featured a tribute to music fans killed in attacks in Las Vegas and Manchester last year with country stars Eric Church, Maren Morris and Brothers Osbourne together performing Eric Clapton’s mournful “Tears in Heaven.”
– Trump skewered –
The Grammys didn’t hold back from more light-hearted political commentary.
Noting President Donald Trump’s reported disdain for reading — and the Grammy award for spoken word — host James Corden introduced a video of famous names reciting from “Fire and Fury: Inside The Trump White House,” the sensational account of the tycoon-turned-president’s first year in office.
Musicians known for their criticism of Trump started reading from the book including John Legend, Cher and — smoking from his trademark joint — Snoop Dogg.
The video ends with Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in the bitter 2016 election.
“The Grammy’s in the bag,” quips Clinton, whose confidence during her race against Trump proved ill-advised.

Big brother naija launched with 20 housemates

This year’s edition, which is tagged “double wahala” stars Vandora, Teddy A, K Bruce, Nina, Miracle, Alex, Princess, DeeOne and Ahneeka.

Other housemates are Rico Swavey, Bito, BamBam, Leo, Khloe, Angel and Ifu-Ennada, Anto, Tobi Bakare, Cee-C and Lolu.

The show is running for a second consecutive running year as it had previously suffered a 10-year hiatus after holding its first edition in 2006.

Popular artists, Mayorkun and Kiss Daniel performed live during the launch.
Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who returned to host the show for the second time, introduced the housemates in groups of four.

This year’s contestants are a cross-section of musicians, comedians and entrepreneurs.

The housemates were given their first task of finding bed spaces as those available were limited.

The number of contestants is an increase from last year’s 12 housemates, which saw Efe Ejeba emerged winner, taking home the 25 million Naira cash prize and an SUV.
A reunion show featuring some of the previous housemates had been aired for one week before Sunday’s launch.

Every Sunday on the show, viewers are expected to witness an eviction of a housemate.

The winner of the 78 – day contest will be given N25 million cash prize and a brand new SUV.

Benue state SUBEB says herdsmen killing has forced 10000 pupils out of school.
The Benue State Universal Education Board has said that at least 10, 000 pupils have been forced out of schools in two local government areas of the state which came under attack by gunmen on New Year’s Day.

The chairman of the board, Rev. Philip Tachin, on Sunday in Makurdi said many schools were affected as many families fled their homes alongside the children to different camps following the invasion of Guma and Logo LGAs of the state by gunmen.
Tachin lamented that the situation had posed a setback for the board which recently embarked on massive campaign for increased enrolment of pupils into public primary schools in the state at the commencement of the new academic session few months ago.
He said it was disheartening to see hundreds of school children forced out of school due to the invasion by suspected herders of some communities in the Guma and Logo areas when he paid a visit to the camp few days ago to donate relief materials.

Tachin said, “The Executive Secretary of State Emergency Management Agency gave me staggering statistics of children numbering 2,050 who are locked up in this camp in Gbajimba. Apart from these children from the rural areas that have been camped here, the primary school in Gbajimba has also been shut down in order to accommodate the refugees since there are no enough IDP camps.
“This is the multiplier effect of this genocidal operation. There are six IDP camps in these two affected local government areas and if the statistics of these schoolchildren are the same across the IDPs camps, over 10,000 children have been forced out of school.”
});

According to him, the development was antithetical to the Universal Basic Education Commission’s intensive effort to mop up out-of-school children in the state.
Tachin expressed worry that the gunmen who, he said, had no value for education were on a mission to destroy education, adding that, if the Federal Government was not decisive in putting a stop to the killings, then its efforts in education would be a mere waste of resources.
“Many schools have been affected, though we have yet to ascertain whether school buildings have been destroyed the same way they do to houses in villages. We met one of the cops that were attacked by the armed herdsmen and he confirmed that they were Fulani herdsmen.

“They were heavily armed and were among their cattle. The Federal Government should be honest by not playing politics with this serious security problem because it is capable of leading to a conflagration. We want one Nigeria and we shouldn’t be pushed to having a divided country,” Tachin said.
A 10-year-old boy was reportedly found hanged in Ujevwu, Udu council area of Delta State, leaving the entire community in fear.

The boy, identified as Emmanuel Raphael, was reportedly found hanging on Friday after returning from school with his younger sister.

Though being suspected as a suicide, the circumstances surrounding his death have not been unravelled.

It was gathered that it was the second time the deceased had attempted to kill himself.
Emmanuel, who was living with his father, Mr. Raphael and his step-mother, a money lender, allegedly hanged himself with a wrapper tied to an iron bar in the corridors of their bungalow after he reportedly woke up from a siesta.

A source narrated that, “Emmanuel woke up from sleep and was laughing, suddenly he went inside to get a wrapper, he tied it to the iron bar, while standing on a chair. He swirled the cloth round his neck and then kicked the chair away from under his feet.

“The little girl made efforts to save him by trying to untie the wrapper while holding him up, but she was overwhelmed, that was when she shouted for help until neighbours rushed in.”

A source stated that the deceased, about two years ago, had attempted to take his own life in the village while living with his grandmother, but he did not die following the swift intervention of the grandmother who was around when he made the attempt.
Giving further account of what allegedly transpired, a neighbour, quoting the alleged account of the younger sister, said the deceased (Emmanuel) was speaking aloud while sleeping, saying repeatedly that, “someone must die today.”

Alleged efforts to save the boy proved abortive as he was said to have died on the way to the hospital.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, said he had not been briefed about the incident.

Sanchez stars on Man United debut to cap Mourinho's perfect week

at Yeovil, teeing up two goals in a positive 72-minute display

He
is only one game into his Manchester United career but Alexis Sanchez
has already begun to whet the appetites of his new supporters.

The 4-0 FA Cup win over Yeovil Town on Friday presented all the
hallmarks of a nightmare debut, but the Chilean instead was the star man
in a sometimes shaky but ultimately professional performance by the Red
Devils.

The bobbly pitch did nothing for Sanchez’s trademark busy running
style, while the Yeovil fans did their best to get on his back from
minute one, optimistically labelling him "a waste of money" early on,
but he took it all in his stride in a 72-minute display which promised
far more to come when he finds himself in more favourable surroundings.

It was Sanchez’s name on everybody’s lips in the run-up to the match,
with Jose Mourinho sticking to his promise that the new £35 million man
would get some game time at Huish Park, choosing him on the left of the
attacking midfield line behind Marcus Rashford in the lone striker’s
role. But United took some time to get into their rhythm as the
Portuguese made a total of 10 changes to his starting line-up, resulting
in more than a few scary moments in their own territory.
Yet whenever they got the ball to Sanchez, it appeared that something
positive was on the cards. When he wasn’t coaxing Yeovil defenders into
dangerous challenges, he was giving his team-mates a preview of what is
to come playing alongside the former Arsenal man.
Both Rashford and Scott McTominay had been played into decent
shooting positions by Sanchez long before the former opened the scoring
shortly before half-time. Sanchez nudged the ball centrally for Rashford
and, after the England man had seemingly lost the ball, full-back Tom
James took too long considering his options, allowing Rashford to slot
past Artur Krysiak.
United went for the jugular after the break and deserved their
second goal when it arrived. Once again, Sanchez was prevalent, taking
Juan Mata’s pass and running at the retreating Yeovil back line before
playing a neat reverse ball wide for Ander Herrera to fire confidently
home.
Mourinho eventually called Sanchez’s participation to a close shortly
after the attacker had been on the wrong end of another meaty challenge
in which the ball had been little more than an innocent bystander. The
decision to protect the Chilean ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Wembley to
face Tottenham was a wise one to say the least.

On the whole, this was exactly the kind of performance United fans
could have expected from their side. They were not always secure at the
back as their much-changed side was put under pressure by the more
physical approach of the lower-league outfit. In the end, though, they
won with something to spare.

There was time for two more goals after Sanchez’s exit, with Jesse
Lingard going on a solo run and shooting low past Krysiak only seconds
after 17-year-old Angel Gomes had almost done exactly the same from the
other flank. In the final minute of injury time, Marcos Rojo went on a
rare foray forward to tee up Romelu Lukaku for another.

It has not been a bad week for Jose Mourinho. He turned 55 on Friday,
signed a new contract extension, signalled his 100th game in charge of
United with a 4-0 win and watched his side extend their 2018 record to
five wins from five with 12 goals scored and none conceded.

Moreover, he has added a wonderful weapon to his side’s armoury. And
Alexis Sanchez’s performance at Yeovil is only the taster of what he
could be capable of achieving in a United shirt.

My deformity is a blessing in disguise to me – Juliet Ofodile, 26-year-old Unilag graduate
Only few people can pass through what Juliet Ofodile has experienced in life and still stand strong. The second of six children, the 26-year-old’s formative years were blemished by humiliation and all sorts of ill treatments.

Apart from constantly being reminded by some family members of her disability and how she could not become anything good in life, children and adults within their Egbeda neighbourhood in Lagos, at the time, also subjected her to emotional and psychological abuse. It was a tough period for the young lady.

A native of Anambra State, the graduate of Estate Management from the University of Lagos was born with a slight deformity. Her left hand is without fingers, denying her of the ability to either hold something with it or perform any other function properly. As a result of this, she relies largely on her right hand to do most basic things for herself. The situation not only made life difficult for her, even at that young stage, but also affected her interactions with people around her. Finding acceptance was as difficult as meandering through a road fitted with spikes.

“Only few people wanted me around them in those early days,” Ofodile told punch correspondent.

“Many would look at my left hand and react in a way that would leave me very sad. It was as if I am a half human being that they cannot stand having around them.

“In fact, apart from children calling me names like puff puff hand, adults, including some family members, peddled different stories about what was responsible for my deformed hand. Some even said that my father used my left hand for rituals and that is why I don’t have fingers on it. They said I would never amount to anything in life no matter how hard I tried. As young as I was then, those words touched me and hardened my resolve to become successful at all cost,” she added.

After completing her primary and secondary school education in 2001 and 2007 respectively, the Ofodile’s quest for higher education received a boost in 2008, when she gained admission to partake in a pre-degree programme at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. But after being told that she could not actualise her dreams of becoming a surgeon at the place as a result of her disability, she soon headed back to Lagos, where after a few tries, she gained admission to the University of Lagos in 2010 to study Estate Management. Though not her preferred choice, Ofodile accepted the offer in good faith, trusting God to make her a shining light in the area of discipline.

“Becoming a surgeon was the dream I always had, up until that point,” the young woman cut in sharply.

“I wanted to help save lives and put smiles on the faces of people, but each time I tried to pursue that goal, people made it difficult for me, saying that I couldn’t be a surgeon because of the condition of my left hand. They’ll tell me that it was not possible for me to function properly without being able to hold certain tools with both hands. I tried so hard but had to later settle for what I was offered by Unilag,” she said.

Upon starting her journey as a student of Estate Management at the institution, the Anambra-born woman realised that the experience was quite different from what she had expected. She had thought that she would find things easy before embarking on the journey but soon realised that it was going to be tougher than she ever expected.

“Before then I had thought that Estate Management would not be a stressful course of study but by the time I started, I realised that the discipline involved a lot of drawing and technical work, which required the use of both hands. Considering my challenge, this became a big challenge for me.

“At that time, nobody in my department knew I had challenge with my left hand because I kept it away from them as a result of the ill treatment I had suffered while growing up.

While others would be drawing and doing classwork with their hands, it was quite difficult for me. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the confidence to express myself freely. It was a very tough period for me, especially as a new student on campus,” Ofodile said.

But after finding a way around those initial challenges, the 26-year-old soon settled properly into her new environment, allowing her passion for success to push her on in the face of different obstacles. Even though she did very well in her academic works and related seamlessly with colleagues on campus, the young woman kept her physical challenge a secret for fear of being emotionally abused. However, after an experience that almost claimed her life in September 2017, the Anambra native changed her style. A new woman had emerged.
Seek

“I finally found my confidence in life after coming face to face with death in 2017,” she began. “One morning, I was going to my place of primary assignment while serving with a real estate firm on the Victoria Island when I found myself in a vehicle operated by human parts dealers.

“Immediately I entered the bus and it moved away from where I was picked, someone grabbed my head, neck, tied my eyes, covered my mouth and pinned me to the floor of the bus. Soon they removed every metal on my body, tied my legs together and wanted to tie my hands when I started crying and pleading with them to have mercy on me, that I had gone through a lot in life.

“The person that appeared to be their boss asked them to remove my blindfold and the piece of cloth that was stuffed in my mouth. He asked what happened to my hand and I said it was how I was born and that I was a corps member going to my place of primary assignment.

“He was quiet, and then, he told me that they would let me go. They cleaned my eyes, gave me my belongings, apologised and dropped me off at a point.

“It was at that moment that I appreciated God for moulding me this way from birth because if it was from an accident, they might not have let me go. And if my hand were complete, It would have been bye-bye to earth.

“I bless God that I was born deformed and regret ever blaming Him for how I was. Even though people always made me feel incomplete, I felt totally complete from that very moment God saved my life.

“I hid my left hand from people for 19 years by either putting it in my pocket or wrapping it with a big handkerchief because I didn’t want people staring at me strangely or taking pity on me. But after that terrifying experience at the hands of those ritualists, God gave me a new confidence,” she said.

Following her new-found confidence and ability to express herself freely wherever she went, Ofodile went on to display her talent as a top model and runway star – a quality she always had but kept hidden for fear of stigma and ill treatment. Apart from partaking in modelling events, the young woman also participated in other social activities that further boosted her confidence and improved her personality. It soon brought dividends.

“I could not hold back my joy when I was announced winner of the 2014 edition of Mr. Chef First Lady Reality Show,” the 26-year-old told Saturday PUNCH.

“I felt very happy to have been crowned winner of that show. I have a very strong confidence in my ability as a woman, who is determined to excel in whatever I set my mind upon. It has empowered me to believe more in myself and in everything that I do.

“I feel it has positive impacts on the lives of people who feel less of themselves because that has been my goal. If I can do it, you can. Beyond the amazing prize I went home with, the biggest plus for me was that the show provided me with the opportunity of using my story to inspire others and impart lives. Many people who have met me since that period have told me how that my confidence and desire to always want to succeed have inspired them to be the best.

“As a result of these positive feedbacks I get, I was inspired to start training people on how to become successful models and beauty queens that can add more value to the society.

“Apart from that, I also run other businesses to keep me going while still waiting for a real office job because I really love to work in the real estate sector. While in school, I learnt a lot, so I would like to impart that knowledge in improving the field of estate management in Nigeria.

“People living with disabilities in Nigeria can add a lot of value to the society if given the opportunity to do so. I had to confront a lot of roadblocks to get to where I am today. There were times I felt like quitting, but the desire to become a success at all cost gave me strength. So, the society must help people with special needs for things to move effectively,” she said.

To prevent re-offence, rapists should undergo chemical castration’

Tony Blair’s sister-in-law, Lauren Booth, has claimed that
sex offenders could undergo chemical castration in a bid to reintegrate
them into everyday society.

As she appeared on Channel 5 show The Wright Stuff,
columnist Booth said: “18 percent of the UK prison community is now sex
offenders, 18 percent.
“So, it is a really big problem of safety for the wider
community and I know it sounds harsh but sometimes, I wonder about
chemical castration.
“You can have people then back in the community because
other studies have shown over the years that the urge doesn’t go away
and that the risk of re-offending is always there.
“So while we’re trying to get people to live lives, if you
take away that urge from that particular area of their life and they can
be healthy in other areas, maybe that.”

Her comments proved immediately divisive, receiving a mixture of support and disdain online.
One Twitter user wrote: “I see people saying castration and
death. Seems narrow minded, considering that there is very little
research into the mental state of them and if it’s a disorder or not.

“I can guarantee that there are 1,000s that have thought like this and would like to go to authorities.”
But others supported Booth, believing paedophiles to be beyond self-controlled redemption.
“Convicted paedophiles will always be a danger to society
and therefore should be kept away, under lock and key until their
death,” one user wrote.

“I believe they can’t be rehabilitated, they can’t be
trusted and shouldn’t have access to other paedophiles or computers.
Failing that, castration!”

Chizoro Edohasim, 47, tried to get Olivia and her 11-year old sister Eva to their private tutor.

The convicted man, a doctor, screamed and struggled with police on Friday after being convicted of causing the death of nine-year-old Olivia by dangerous driving.

Edohasim screamed: ”We have lost our daughter. This is not justice — it is so harsh” to his wife Bethel, as she wept in the public gallery at Minshull Street Crown Court today.

The court heard that Edohasim was seen ”zig-zagging” in-between traffic and overtaking two cars on the wrong side of the road as he moved at high speed and in an uncontrolled manner through Altrincham, Greater Manchester, in May 2016.

Tragedy struck moments later when his Toyota Auris accelerated through a red traffic light and ploughed into a wall outside a block of flats without the brakes being applied.

During his trial, the medical researcher wept as footage of the horror was played to the jury.

He shouted from the dock: “Why did this happen to me and my family? My family, my daughter, where are you?”

Edohasim, who specialises in treating patients with addictions, admitted he was wearing a pair of slippers at the time of the crash, but he said it was unlikely his footwear played any part in the incident.

He told the court on Friday (today): ”The burden is on me every day. Every moment of my life, this was a child who is very close to me. Very very close to me.

“She has my mannerisms and was a bundle of joy. I’m a tormented soul.”

The court heard he had been driving “like a lunatic” to get his daughters to their Maths lesson on time after previously receiving a warning about punctuality.

Olivia, who was sitting in the back seat with her seat belt on, suffered fatal back injuries in the 59mph smash, which was described by one witness as ”like a bomb going off.”

She, sadly, died at the scene, while sister Eva underwent emergency surgery for serious stomach injuries

Edohasim later claimed the brakes on his car failed despite police forensic vehicle examiners saying there were no mechanical faults in the two-year-old Toyota Auris.

Tests showed the car was travelling at 48mph six seconds from the impact, yet accelerated to up to 67mph just one second from when the vehicle ploughed into the wall.

It only lost speed when it hit a kerb before the wall, causing one of the wheels to spin freely.

Sentencing, Judge Stuart Driver QC told Edohasim: ”’You are still suffering the physical, emotional and psychological effects of that day, and prison would be particularly difficult for you.

”There is a grave aggravating feature, but I accept your conviction will have a significant impact on your career.

“Finally and most importantly, there is the fact that the deceased was your own child.

“I accept that you were a loving father and this will make a significant difference to sentencing because you are a man who will carry with you the burden of what you have done for the rest of your life.”

When quizzed at hospital, Edohasim told police: “I was saving lives as a doctor and trying hard to be a good citizen and give my children a good childhood. This is how the devil got me back.”

Sgt. Brian Orr of Greater Manchester Police said: “This was a very tragic case, this family have been ripped apart by the stupidity of their father and his little girl has lost her life due to his dangerous driving.

“He will have to live with that guilt for the rest of his life, knowing that he killed his own daughter. There really are no winners in this case.

“Prison is the lesser of the punishments that Edohasim will suffer. This tragic incident shows that we will always bring those who gamble with peoples’ lives by driving dangerously, to justice.”

College student, Charlotte Guy, had intended her confession to go to a friend but she mistakenly sent it instead to 20-year-old Jack Hurst who was away at university.

After realising what she had done, she sent him a message which read: “Goodbye. Please forgive me.”

The teenager, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, later sent a final message and said: “I love you — knowing that you hate me is enough.”

Her inquest heard that she had taken cocaine while under the influence of alcohol before her body was found.

Hurst called the police after reading the messages and used her Snapchat account to pinpoint her location. But she was found hanged near St John Rigby College in Wigan, where she had been studying healthcare.

The Bolton hearing was told the tragedy occurred on September 24 2017 after Charlotte, who also worked poolside at a Total Fitness gym, had been dating Hurst for two years.

In a statement, Hurst — who is currently sitting exams at Newcastle University — said: “We stayed in contact by text messages and phone calls, but she got upset about something that somebody had said to her about a girl I was seeing before I met her.

“She told me that she felt like I had lied to her and I tried to convince her otherwise, but she said she didn’t want to be here anymore.

“I was concerned because she had made comments to me before about feeling that the world wasn’t meant for her.

“She was always worried about not making new friends, but she started a new course at college and made friends quickly and she seemed happy.

“I went to see her in Wigan on the 21 September. I spoke to her and she said that she wanted to end the relationship.

“She said that she felt like she couldn’t trust me but wanted to stay friends. I said that it wasn’t what I wanted but I went back to my parents in Blackpool.

“She asked if I was okay and I said that I felt we could continue our relationship. Charlotte went out with friends that night and I didn’t hear much from her.

“We carried on texting the next day and she told me that she kissed someone else that night. She went out on the Saturday night too.

“On Sunday 24th, she text me to say that she wanted to talk. I said I was busy doing something and I would speak to her later.

“After this, she sent me a Snapchat message that was meant for her friend but that she had sent to me instead.

“The Snapchat referenced her sleeping with someone on the Saturday night. She told me that it wasn’t for me, and apologised and said she was a horrible person.

“She said that she wanted to talk and explain but I said that I didn’t feel like talking and to message me to say what she wanted to say.

“At 5.11pm I got a long text massage for her starting with ‘OK, I think I get the point.’

“This message concerned me and I tried to call her but she didn’t answer. I got another message at 17:13 saying, ‘It doesn’t matter. Goodbye. Please forgive me.’

“The last message I got from her at 17:14 said: ‘I love you, knowing that you hate me is enough.'”

Toxicology reports showed Charlotte had taken cocaine while under the influence of alcohol.

The hearing was the previous night she had been out with friends Stephanie Bradshaw and Kieran Ashcroft and during the evening, she was seen drinking vodka.

Mr Ashcroft said: “She told me that she had been seeing someone called Jack Hurst for about two years, but they had since split up.

“She didn’t seem upset about it and seemed really happy the entire night. The next day, I dropped her off home at around 6am and she sent me a message later on.

“Charlotte told me that she had been having a good night, and seemed happy when I dropped her off the next morning.”

Earlier, Charlotte’s parents Martin and Deborah Guy said their daughter had previously self harmed and had been referred to healthcare professional.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is open to taking charge of Spanish and European champions Real Madrid as he dismissed the possibility of moving to Barcelona or Arsenal.

Zinedine Zidane guided Madrid to LaLiga and Champions League glory last season but the Frenchman is fighting to keep his job amid the club's struggles in 2017-18.Madrid's campaign hit a new low Wednesday, bundled out of the Copa del Rey quarter-finals by Leganes. Pochettino has been linked with Madrid amid uncertainty over Zidane and the former Espanyol boss refused to rule out a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu."I am so clear," Pochettino said.

"I am never going to be manager of Barcelona or Arsenal because I am so identified with Tottenham and Espanyol. I grew up in Newell's Old Boys and will never manage Rosario Central.

That is my decision because I prefer to work on my farm in Argentina than in some places. But my commitment is massive in this club. I am working like I am going to be here forever."But in the end, it is like the players, you never know what is going
to happen in football. It is a lot of rumours about this, about that.

"Tomorrow [Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy could have a bad night and say, 'Oh I am going to sack Mauricio'. And then I look stupid saying I am not going to work in one place or another or another."You never know in football. That is the problem. It is a very unstable situation."

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League after 24 matches, two points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool and 20 behind runaway leaders Manchester City. Spurs are away to Newport County in the FA Cup Saturday before hosting Manchester United Wednesday.
Philippe Coutinho was understandably delighted after making his debut for Spanish giants Barcelona.

Philippe Coutinho revelled in his debut for Barcelona after receiving words of wisdom from former star Ronaldinho.
Coutinho made his first appearance since joining from Liverpool in a club-record deal reportedly worth €160million as Barcelona overcame rivals Espanyol 2-0 in the Cope del Rey quarter-finals. The Brazil international playmaker came off the bench and impressed in a 22-minute cameo Thursday, Barca sealing a 2-1 aggregate triumph at Camp Nou."It has been a special day because these were my first minutes with this club," Coutinho said."It was a great night. I am very happy and excited, because of how the fans welcomed me.

"I was a little nervous and anxious because of how big a club this is, but the way everyone welcomed me helped me to relax."
Coutinho's bow came after ex-Barcelona attacker Ronaldinho had a message for his countryman pre-match. In a video posted to Twitter, Ronaldinho said: "It's Ronaldo speaking he to wish you all the luck in the world.
Give it everything and make people happy, that is what they like."Enjoy yourself and the rest will follow."Coutinho could make his LaLiga debut when leaders Barca host Deportivo Alaves Sunday.

Niger Delta bluntly rejects cattle colonies
The Niger Delta leaders under the auspices of the Pan Niger Delta Forum have rejected the proposed plans by the Federal Government to set up cattle colonies across the country as parts of ongoing efforts to end incessant clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers.

Rising from an emergency meeting on Thursday held at the Kiagbodo country-home of Chief Edwin Clark in Burutu council area of Delta State, the leaders drawn from the six states of the N’Delta told the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government that people of the oil-rich region would not release any piece of land to the government for such purpose.

A communiqué issued at the end of the six-hour meeting which was signed by PANDEF convener, Clark, and read by one of its leaders, Chief Olivia Agbajoh, urged the Federal Government to treat the business of animal husbandry in the country as a commercial activity.
It read, “The people of the Niger Delta expressed solidarity with the people of Benue State and other parts of the country where communities have suffered untold menace and brutality in the hands of Fulani herdsmen.

“We rejected the idea of setting up cattle colonies around the country and advised the Federal Government to handle this sensitive matter with tact and treat the issue of animal husbandry as commercial transaction which should be left in the hands of relevant stakeholders.
“PANDEF emphasises that no Niger Delta land will be available for such cattle colonies”
While reacting to the recent threat by the Niger Delta Avengers to resume hostilities, the leaders appealed to the NDA and others militant groups to exercise patience while PANDEF “continues to engage the Federal Government on meeting the demands and developmental agitation of the region in earnest.”

The group also noted the slow pace on the effective take off “of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, and the silence over the upgrading of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, to a Federal University of Maritime Studies.”

The Niger Delta leaders also announced the plan to hold a mega rally on restructuring on March 24, 2018 at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to garner more support for the restructuring of the Nigerian state.

It said the rally would be attended by prominent Nigerians including Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Olu Falae, President-General of Ohanaeze, Chief NniaNwodo; Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife; Dr. Bala Takaya; and a former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang.

Special Adviser on commerce to Gov.

The gunshot victims included a carpenter, Dung Chung, 42, who was shot on his right arm; a builder, Dung Chollom, shot on the head, and another victim simply identified as Junior.
The incident happened at a drinking joint around College of Health Technology, Dorowa Zawan, near Bukuru in the Jos South Local Government Area.
While Chung and Chollom were said to have been discharged from the Plateau Hospital in Jos, Junior was said to be in a coma and receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Efforts to see Junior at the Plateau Hospital met with stiff resistance from the staff, despite pleas that he was a relative of a punch correspondent.
The Majority Leader, House of Parliament, Plateau Youths Council in the Mangu Local Government Area, Dapip Stanley, confirmed the shooting in an interview with Northern City News on Tuesday.
He said, “The shooting by SARS took place on Monday night. Members of SARS don’t want to give us details about what happened. Many people were shot and three of the victims were driven in a Hilux van to an unknown destination.
“We have intimated the youths in the locality and we are marching to the SARS office to ask about our people and ascertain the state of their health. They were drinking at an Ogogoro (gin) shop when the SARS swooped on them and started shooting.
“They have been intimidating, harassing and molesting our people and we have been keeping quiet. But this time around, they are going to receive the bad side of it from us.”
But when contacted, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the people were injured during exchange of gunfire with security operatives.
He said, “How can SARS go to a place, shoot people and take them away? The true information is that SARS went to raid a place notorious for the the smoking of marijuana. And because those people were armed, they started exchanging fire with SARS and in the process, three were injured and were taken to Plateau Hospital.
“Two were treated and discharged, while the other person is on admission in the hospital. One locally-made pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from them. So, when people are giving information, they should be honest with the truth.”

Campaigns will not stop projects, says Lagos state governor, Ambode

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State says electioneering preparatory towards 2019 general election will not slow the pace of infrastructural development.

He added that his administration would complete all ongoing projects and implement new ones.
The governor spoke at the opening of a three-day retreat for members of the Lagos State Executive Council, Body of Permanent Secretaries and heads of government agencies in Epe.
Ambode said, “We have recorded successes and consolidated on the status of our state as a commercial and social hub in sub-Saharan Africa.
“I hear people say that this is an election year and that governance will slow down; but let me assure you that in this state, we will stay focused to our plans and ensure that steady progress is achieved.”
The governor, who said the theme of the retreat, ‘Effective Strategic Planning for an Emerging Smart City,’ was carefully selected, urged participants to start thinking of the next level.
He said participants must look beyond the borders of the state for ideas and do things differently.
“My message remains the same. Our conviction is resolute. We are totally for inclusive governance. Building effective and efficient institutions should be our goal henceforth,” the governor said.
The Head of Service, Mrs. Folashade Adesoye, said the retreat would be used to set a new agenda on how to achieve the set goals for the state in 2018.
