First image below is from the built-in unit of my NX420 AIO, the second one is from Epson V330, a dedicated scanning unit.

    Nx420 was connected to my PC via a standard USB2.0 hub. Scan was initiated by choosing the menu option in the AIO unit.

    Scanning took close to a minute (this was the first scan).

    The “Emirates” part of the boarding pass came out in a different color (kinda washed out too).

    Epson Perfection V330

    V330 was connected via a standard USB2.0 hub. Scan was initiated by using the front button on the scanner.

    Scanning took less than 5 seconds (this was the first scan). The scanned image looked pretty close to the original (brown color reproduction was excellent).

    Bottomline:

    Though Nx420 is good enough for quick scans of text and occasional photos, I wouldn’t use it for important scans, like archiving my family photos. These tasks need a V330…am glad I have that wlEmoticon smile What is in a scanner? image

    I was composing a mail to one of my colleagues, typed in the content and pressed SEND. Google popped up the following dialog box:

    It “read” my mail, understood that I meant to attach a document, but on not finding any attachments helpfully popped up the above msg! It is as if somebody “physically” was there looking over my shoulder, having read the mail. pointing out the missing file…Pretty cool for a program to create such an eerie effect.  Wonder whether GMail can do this for other languages too…anybody has experienced this on a non-English mail?

    I know Google *has* to read my mails to show me contextual ads, but seeing that in action really scared me…I am not sure how many of my other private/not-so-private things have been “understood”/categorized away for later use by Google…really scary stuff!

    Project Description:

    DriverStoreExplorer GUI makes it easier to deal with Windows Vista / Windows 7 driver store. Supported operations include enumeration, adding a driver package (stage), adding & installing, deletion and force deletion from the driver store.

    Features:

    • Enumerate / List all the packages staged in the current driver store.
    • Add a driver package to the driver store (called staging).
    • Install & Add a driver package to the store.
    • Delete a package from the store.
      • Force deletion supported.
    • Deletion of multiple driver packages [batch mode]
    • Full fledged GUI
      • Supports grouping / sorting on any column.
      • Supports re-arranging of / Selecting specific columns.

     

    Requirements:

    .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

    You can download the full source code from the tool website, do let me know if you find any issues. Any code/feature additions are welcome.
