For me, It is really important that I do what I love.

I launched Minimal Sites because I love simple and clean design. I wanted to sell what I would like to buy, and that’s why I started Minimal Goods.

Now, I really enjoy painting using iPad, and I start iPaintings.net I hope this site could be a fun place for artists. We can talk about your and others’ art, discuss, chat, and be connected each other. Maybe, we can have an offline exhibition together somewhere in NYC or Shanghai one day. (That will be greeeeeeat~)

Even though we have only two items(About Blank Notebook and Minimal Tee:M) right now, more products will be included in our collection soon.

2 weeks ago, I was in the office, and realized it was a birthday of my friend. I didn’t want to give him a card that you can just grab from grocery stores. So, I designed this card for him.

I use FuzzyClock(review) on my laptop, and love it.

Why not on a real watch?

After I created this concept image, I found other designer who came up with very similar idea already: Talus Watches

Often you don’t need the exact time in hours, minutes and seconds. A more human readable style like “five past ten” makes more sense - Objectpark’s FuzzyClock

Designers' / Typography CAPTCHA (Concepts)

Everyday, I have to answer many stupid questions. I sometimes have to type after some image that is ridiculously hard to read, answer simple math questions, or retype phrases… etc. Even though I’m sick of them, I’m still using a CAPTCHA on this blog because I need something to protect my website against bots.

This is my concept of Design CAPTCHA or Typography CAPTCHA. The first goal of this CAPTCHA is to protect websites against bots, like what many other CAPTCHAs are doing, and second goal is to educate people.

I wish I can do this alone. But, I’m not a programmer, so can somebody please develop this?

The Stendig Calendar

End of each year, there is a first thing I write on my new year’s shopping list. It is the Stendig Calendar designed by Massimo Vignelli in 1966. Since 1966, this calendar has been a part of a design collection in The Museum of Modern Art, New York. This large, 122 x 91cm, calendar is minimally(well) designed, functional, and can work as an art piece for an empty wall.

This Calendar is a largest and the most exquisite art piece in my small apartment. First day of each month, I tear off a page. But, what do I do with this beautiful garbage? Once the month is over, it is just a large piece of paper with numbers on it. Well… I use it to wrap gifts for my designer friends, and of course, they love it.

Many designers never touch pencil to paper anymore in this Computer Age. But, I believe that sketching is a best way to make my idea and concept clear and organized.

I’m using my favorite “design tools” which are Rhodia Graph Paper Pad 6 X 8 and Pilot G-Tec-C 0.3mm. I’m really happy that I have found this combination for my sketching.
