We moved into our current house about 4 years ago. One of the things we have always talked about doing was to have our kitchen cabinets painted. Finally we decide to go for it! We used a company out of Hurst, Texas called Noteworthy Home. They did our bedroom furniture a few years back. They do amazing work! We could not be more happy with how it turned out. We went with Sherwin Williams - Rare Gray for the cabinets and Sherwin Williams - Urban Bronze for the island. Below are a few pics of the transformation. It makes our kitchen so much brighter and custom looking.

We have been looking to expand our products for our Tumbleweed TexStyles brand over the last year or so. We have added pint glasses, beer growlers, beanies, trucker hats, tea mugs, and outerwear to name a few. Back in December we stumbled upon a company in Europe that could make us an enamel camp mug. We contacted them and got the ball rolling soon after. We decided to use our Texas TeePee design on the side to go with the outdoor camp theme. These mugs are made using an old world technique practiced for over 100 years. The quality is unbeatable. The mugs are dishwasher and campfire safe. We absolutely love how they turned out! New Logo For The Rib Whisperer

I had the pleasure of working with the fine folks over at The Rib Whisperer to develop their new logo for all their BBQ sauces, rubs, and spices. It's really cool to see an idea go from a sketch to an actual label on a bottle of BBQ sauce. You may have seen Trace Arnold on the History Channel traveling the country with his big smoker. He is known for his big personality and his big cowboy hat. He also owns a local BBQ joint called 3 Stacks in Frisco, Texas. Here is what I came up with for their design:

I went to the David Dike Fine Art Gallery in Dallas last night for the opening of the Jon Flaming show - Oil On Canvas -Paintings of the Texas Oil & Gas Industry. I have been following Jon's work for a couple of years now and I was finally able to see it in person. It was also great to actually get to meet Jon and his family. They are such nice folks. The show runs until December 6th. If you are in Dallas get over there and check it out! The west Texas themed paintings are just my style!

Last week I took a few days off from school for some "me" time. I needed to clear my head, get some inspiration, and meet some new people. Last spring I discovered that Circles Conference was going to be going on in Grapevine, Texas, which is just about 30 minutes from my house, so I signed up way back in March. My co-worker Fred Rodriguez also signed up. We are both really interested in the foundations of design, the business aspects of the design world, and making connections with fellow creatives. Well, this conference did not disappoint. The conference was set up with guest speakers throughout the day, with a Q/A panel after lunch. Here is a list of the speakers:

I will not go into all the details, but each one of these speakers had a great message and some really good insight on being creative and making your mark in the design world. They had some really cool vendors set up in the overflow room - WarStics and The Giving Keys were my favorites. Printed Threads was there doing live screen printing too. Really cool! They had a great after party at the end of day one where dinner and drinks were provided! I met some really cool people from all over the country.

I was also able to meet a few people that I have followed for a while through blogs, Instagram, and podcasts. It was really cool to connect with these guys over some small talk. Really great guys and super talented artists.

Everyone here was really friendly and open. It was refreshing to not have to deal with the "artists egos" floating around.

I really didn't know what to expect from a design conference going in as a rookie. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I got inspired to keep plugging away, try new stuff, and shoot for the stars. I have always had a fascination with campers and travel trailers. I love the idea of hitching one up and taking a trip in a vintage Airstream. Maybe some day. Above is a drawing I did a few days ago of a truck camper. I'm not sure what text or font I want to go with this image yet. I'll be heading out to Lubbock this weekend and thought this might get me in the mood for a change of scenery for a few days on the South Plains.

Texas Cow Skull Drawing - Sugar Skull

I went back to work last week, after a relaxing 3 month summer vacation. It was kind of hard to get rolling.......but now I'm back in the groove. The other day I was able to start going through my list of ideas that I wanted to draw out. I drew up this cow skull on Labor Day morning. I've had the idea for a while so it was cool to see it come to life. The cool thing about this one is that after I drew the outline, I basically just went freestyle to see what would happen. I kind of like how it's looking. We may use this on a t-shirt or tank in the next few weeks. I'll keep you posted. The folks that follow us on Instagram at @shoptwt seemed to dig it.

I've had this canvas for about 4 months now. My summer break ends in 4 days. I finally decide to get this painting for my wife off the ground. It took me a couple of days, but it is now complete. The canvas is 4 ft x 4 ft. I uses a couple of photo references I found from real skulls and photographs from my travels. It makes me wonder what I could punch out if I really got after it.

Above is my first image that I've done with my new Texture Press download. I purchased it from Creative Market. The best part was that it was only $15. I have been trying to get this look on my hand lettering pieces for months. Numerous multi-stepped tutorials had left me frustrated and confused until I found this!
