‘Great’ footage from Swedish TV – featuring Jim and the boys over 40 years ago. Have to say that the camera man must have practiced really hard to NOT capture the detail.

Round about 1’26″ – as ‘the man’ starts the lead – camera dutifully focussed on Jimi’s face for 2 to 3 seconds before jumping across to see EXACTLY how that bass line was being played.

PRICELESS !

New Orb album to feature Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour

Mr Gilmour did another collaboration to support the hacker Gary McKInnon – I am hoping that this will be a little more musically interesting.

New Orb album to feature Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour | Music | guardian.co.uk

Metallic Spheres, due on 4 October, is credited to the Orb “featuring David Gilmour”. The 10 songs began with Gilmour alone in the studio, jamming with producer Youth. The Orb’s Alex Paterson took these unfinished tracks and manipulated them. Youth’s bass and keyboards appear alongside Gilmour’s lap steel and electric guitar, described in a press release as, er, “discernible”.

The New Rolling Sex Beetles Experience

I haven’y heard this band – but I am intriqued enough to drill in – but before I do – wanted to post this to Just Good Music. In their words :

It is true. We have never played the same song twice. Like Puccini, we never repeat. In fact we rarely even listen to what we have recorded. Improvised experimental techno punk, didn’t have a category when we began playing together, in fact we have pioneered our genre from it’s inception. We have also recorded everything we have ever played.

The recording hour quotient is apparently 3,000 hours. Remember – you read it here first !

Kim Larsen – Gasolin’ – Circa ’76

Most readers have likely never heard of C.V. Jørgensen, Bifrost, Gasolin and Kim Larsen – but they and many others from the Danish music scene all contributed to my life of music in the early 70s. This one in particular – I have just played it at least 10 times as I have explored YouTube trying to find the right version to share … music has so many memories ….. the original just seems to me to have the edge over the later version …. enjoy.

Nice human article about the other live guitarist that hangs around the stage when The Tree play live.

Reminded me of these photos from a few years ago – taken in Camden Town, London when he and SW played to around 200 people in a record store.
