Two Upcoming Exhibitions

Details aren't confirmed yet, but I will be having a solo exhibition of photography this July at the Inspire Cafe, Levenshulme, Manchester. This is via Arts for Recovery in the Community.

And Positive Arts art group will be holding a group exhibition this August/September at Vernon Park Museum, Stockport. In which I'll be exhibiting some recent paintings.

Season Launch: Arc Community Gallery. 11th February 2012

Arc won the Life-Changing award for the Proud of Stockport Awards 2012. It's really well deserved and I was thrilled that my nomination played a small part in them being noticed.

I hope to be at the Season Launch this Saturday (11th Feb 2012, 1 to 4pm) at some point. These events are always a lot of fun and there is some fantastic art on display by really talented local artists. The gallery has never looked so good.

Arc Is Here. There is limited parking around the back and plenty of parking on Greg Street. Look for the Arc logo on the building with purple railings out front.

I have copied a few old posts over to about phojus and left a few irrelevant ones behind to be deleted.

As I've mentioned before, this site is purely information and news from my creative world. To promote my own work and activities (hopefully exhibitions included), as well as friends and organisations close to me. The news is delivered as a blog and most information will live on a static page which I haven't set up yet.

And just so you know, my chronicles of phojus site remains as it is, a blog-ish chronicling my creative output. As well as thoughts and ideas about stuff. Hopefully there will be more frequent updates as I sift through all the stuff on my mac. Ugh! I wish I was better organised.

The ARC Community Gallery presents a Summer Art Fair

You are invited to Arc’s second Summer Art Fair - a packed day on Saturday 16th July for all the family!

The event runs from 12 - 4 and features the preview of our Sketches of Summer exhibition - a beautiful collection of ceramics, photography and fine art, all created by our current participants, volunteers and associate artists, and much of which is for sale.The Art Fair also hosts 10 stalls displaying and selling the work of local artists and craftspeople, great refreshments from a Reddish-based cake shop, tombola and family art activities. Also this year there is a special chance to have a go at screenprinting - we have limited places on hour-long workshops at 12, 1.30 and 3pm, just costing £5. Places must be prebooked - by phoning Arc or emailing.

Mentoring

Last week I trekked down to the wilds of Bollington, Cheshire to visit Fiona Bailey of the White Gallery. She had visited the Arc Community Gallery last October to see our Creative Spaces exhibition. And then subsequently offered to mentor a couple of us in our ongoing artistic journeys.

So I was very happy to take up her offer of help with my photography, and frankly a little stunned too — many good things have come of that exhibition. Our meeting went well and I came away feeling really encouraged and brimming with ideas and possibilities. I look forward to working with her some more, she’s really helpful and enthusiastic.

Solo Exhibition: Oasis Cafe

My first solo exhibition is coming up. It will be held at Oasis Cafe in Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport for six weeks starting 12th January 2011. I’m exhibiting some photographs.

Arc have arranged for a few of us on the gallery team to exhibit there and now it’s my turn. I’m a bit nervous about it, especially as I’m not even ready for it yet, there’s still some framing to be done.

Exhibition: January Sale at Arc

Following the successful Art Bazaar and exhibition held at Arc last month we are holding a January sale starting this Monday 10th January 2011 until 28th January 10am to 4pm weekdays.

All items in the gallery will be discounted by 30%, which makes a trip down very worthwhile.
I personally will be selling a few framed photographs, some winter greetings cards and two limited editions of my photo book.

I had originally decided I didn’t want to sell the books discounted but I have two sitting on my desk here and they may as well go to a good home. At 30% off that’s more than 10 pounds off each one. I am discounting two copies only.

This is the 3rd Annual Art Bazaar in the Gallery – which boasts a dazzling array of beautiful and original artworks, gifts and cards to suit any budget. From quirky felt decorations to coasters and mugs, from crocheted hats, scarves and brooches to unique glass jewellery, from children’s colouring packs to framed paintings, textiles and prints. All produced by our community of artists in our centre for the arts and wellbeing - including textiles by Sue Diskin, jewellery by Julia Doherty and photography by Justin Lane.
