Life, lately...

I'm not even sure how to begin this post since it's really a mash up of a lot of things. I have come to a season of change in my life and gained many wonderful and beautiful things. Of course nothing can be gained without loss and of course in my case this came with a great loss.

So on gaining....I landed a wonderful job at a beautiful and unique wedding venue. My time at this job has brought me more joy than I have ever had on a personal-career level. I have grown immensely from how I deal with people to how I view myself. While still humbled, gone are the days of placing myself under others levels. I have always been a giver and with reckless abandon I gave my time, money and life. Though I still believe in selfless giving, no longer have I done so at the disadvantage to my well being. As women we are born with the inherent feeling of "not-enough", and while this is a battle we all must struggle to win, I have grown leaps and bounds in placing value into all areas of my life. I cannot adequately put into words how freeing this has become. To live a life of conviction, unapologetic, and to be serving in a manner that not only honors others but myself as well has been one of the best lessons I have learned to date. Through this job I have also gained many irreplaceable friendships. Traits that I never believed I could posses (including a fountain of energy) have rubbed off on me. Each of these people have taught me things about hard working caring people and a whole heap about myself and areas I need to grow.

On losing....I've been lead down a really great path and re-reading the last paragraph I am filled to the brim with gratitude and joy. But there is a bit of sadness is my life. I am no longer engaged. Sometimes things fall apart and that's all I really know to say about the whole situation. It's really no ones business what or how things happened. I can say this though: cherish your life. Hold fast and with extreme care those people you value most in your life. Be honest with your heart always. Sometimes truths are painful, but if you are true and pure in your intent to be honest it will be good for all parties involved.

This was a very interesting roll. It was taken with MegaZuck84 with various filter strengths. As you can tell I'm all about flowers and animals. I've noticed that the focus was really off on this roll, but it made for a few great shots...but I'm not photographer...so they may be awful.

These photos were taken over a few weeks with the camera D-Fault. Overall I was pretty pleased with the camera, though very dark and very light kinda threw it off a bit. Hope you enjoy!

Cool New Thing: Jux

So while I've taken a bit of an unintentional vow of silence (other than my weekly E & I update) on this little space, I have been posting quite a bit on a new blogging site called Jux. (You can check mine out here.) If you haven't heard of it yet, Jux is a simplistic blogging site for all things, big or small. If I had to liken it to anything I would say it was the theory of Tumblr and the simplicity of Path all in one. Except it's WAY better my friends. Social links are easily added to your main hub to get people contacted to you in other ways, adding photos as a post or to a post are a snap by simply adding from your Instagram, Facebook, or Flickr feeds. Or you can go the old school route and upload them from you computer. No time to get to your computer? Add a photo post to your Jux feed from Instagram by adding #jux to your caption.

There's nothing I love more than a company that constantly tries to update their site or add new features in a positive way. (Facebook's every changing feed & personal pages....gag me!) Jux is adding new features and working from feedback from their own users! Jux is also currently working on an app (which I'm waiting very ~~impatiently~~ patiently for). Overall it's just a great place to share the large or small details of each day.

I'm back with another "film roll"! These photos were taken over a couple of weeks. They were taken with the D-Lite camera with no adjustment to the filter with the exception of the first photo of Sophie, my beautiful cat.

Loving: Make-up primer! I know this is kind of silly, but I am not a make-up savvy gal. In fact my routine is pretty much always the same and I am hopeless when it comes to branching out or trying new products/techniques. I had heard mention of primer but didn't really want to add something else to my routine but when my mom told me about it and had great things to say, I went and got some. I bought e.l.f. brand and at $6 it was an easy risk to take. So far, I really like it! I only have to use a small dab for my whole face and I've notice everything looks a lot smoother and my make-up still looks fresh at the end of the day.

Thinking about: Flowers. We will be meeting with our florist next Monday and will be making our first big decision for the wedding since choosing the venue. I'm really excited and really nervous all at the same time. There are so many options and I hope she can capture the vision that Frank & I have been dreaming of.

Anticipating: Seeing our engagement photos! We actually just took them on Saturday, but I got a sneak peek at one image and I'm over-the-moon excited! Hopefully within a month or so I can see and share them. Until them I will just be patient and gush over the first look at them that I have.

Watching: Gossip Girl. I'm not sure how I got sucked in to this show, but boy am I hooked. I have switched up which characters I like/dislike throughout the first two seasons. But I think hands down I can say that there's always great looks that I like.

Eating: Lot's of fro-yo. So yummy and a lot less feelings of guilt after.

Adventures in iPhoneopgraphy No 1

Honestly iPhoneography is just a fancy word for pictures taken with the iPhone. Which, much to my dismay, is all I use in the way of a camera 99.9% of the time. I would never dare to call myself a photographer, not even of the iPhone type. However, photo dump just doesn't sound to me like much a of a title for a blog post sharing my photos.... I digress. In these labeled posts you'll find random photos that I've taken and I will try to include any apps I used to shoot with or edit with.

This week I wanted to share with you a few photos from my recent "roll of film". There is this neat app called D-Series and it's modeled after a disposable version of the Hipstamatic app. What's great about this is that's you get two "cameras" for free and a third by linking your Facebook account. Basically you open the app, choose one of your cameras and shoot away! Just like a real disposable camera, you can't see your pictures until after the 24 photos have been taken, but unlike a real disposable, you can save them to your photos folder instead of having them developed. Need more "cameras"? Not a problem, you can buy more for just $0.99! Each camera has unlimited exposures and with the ability to adjust the intensity of your filter on the camera, you have lots of possibilities! So enough about the app, let's get to the photos!

Working on: Our engagement posts! I cannot believe we got engaged in September and I haven't said word one about it here on the blog. It has turned out to be quite lengthy (which anyone who knows me in real life, knows that it's difficult for me to spare details on a story) but completely beautiful.

Loving: Spending time with my girl friends! Since Frank has been working at China Peak Mountain Resort, I've realized that I've missed hanging with lady friends! I love spending time with Frank, but being around other women has really inspired me in so many ways. From talking about being a wife (future wife in my case) to books we're reading and work, I've discovered ambition and admiration (for myself and others) within myself. And besides, it's a whole lot of fun!

Thinking about: Our wedding! We're fast approaching the one-year-away mark and there is so much to do! I can't help thinking about how everything will come together and sharing our love and commitment with our closest friends and family.

Anticipating: The arrival of our first niece! Frank's sister is due on the 9th and I cannot wait to meet the little princess. Having a nephew has been super amazing and so much fun. I cannot wait to see him as a big brother.

Listening to: Deadmau5! I cannot get enough of the beats. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Could I ask a little favor?
