Street art, most of the time, should be fun, and we love the interventions that Filthy Luker has come up with. Sea monster arms coming off a building, gigantic pencils scribbling on walls, and trees with eyes are a just a few of fun pieces he has come up with. He calls the pieces “Street Attacks.” Good title.

Judith G. Klausner, an artist based out of Somerville, MA, eats her Oreos in a totally different way than you do – carving classic Roman portraits into the cream filling of Oreo sandwich cookies. These delicious portraits were created using straight pins, toothpicks and a balled-tip sculpture sticks which allowed Klausner to get such a large amount of detail in such a small space. Considering the skill and patience you needed for this work, probably no one wants to eat these portrait cookies.

Some people drink coffee and despise a coffee stain, but for artist RED, she has taken the concept of a coffee stain to a whole new level. She has taken hundreds of individual coffee stain rings, “many of them broken and imperfect like fallen autumn leaves,” to form a whole portrait. The results, and video, are quite amazing. The project itself was inspired by a Jay Chou’s song, ‘Secret/??????’.

As RED writes, “The project took about 12 hours to finish. Coffee is quite a challenging medium to use – too little water and the rings wouldn’t form easily, too much water and the rings would blend into each other, resulting in just a deformed pool of coffee. I had to also wait for the lighter parts too dry up before stamping on the darker rings, or else the rings would not be visible.”

Although dogs are widely regarded as man’s best friend, there are still lots of people has cat as their pets. It is no wonder as it is hard to resist the cuteness of a little fluffy creature that roll up on your knees and purrs from joy. Cats seldom beg for something unless it’s time to have a dinner. Cats are loving, playful, charming and cute companions.

1. Tell us more about yourself and the modeling industry, how it all started and what inspired it.

I’m 19 this year, very bubbly, and very fickle minded. I can be very fun and loving, but you won’t wanna cross my line because when I am offended, I REALLY am. But other than that, I am super fun to be with (that’s what my friends tell me) and a very good listener. I am still studying, currently a full-time student of Early Childhood Education in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I absolutely LOVE children, that explains my course of studies

I started some simple modeling back when I was 15. When one of my friend accompanied me to a photoshoot in a studio.. by a photographer I haven’t met before. I think we spoke on the net or something, and he showed me his portfolio and such. Who on Earth would just meet a photographer from the net right? But who cares, I gave it a try and yes, here I am! Being in the industry for almost 4 years already! Since young I really like being in photos, and you will see me posing whenever someone tries to snap a photo. So modeling is something I really enjoy.

2. What would be the next upcoming/latest project that we can expect?

I’ve just got selected to be an ambassador for Garnier, which is a long term project! I’m really excited to see what’s in store for the team Other than that, I will also be appearing here and there for various events that I can commit!

3. Where do you see yourself heading in the next 5 years?

Probably being a teacher? I have dreams of opening my own childcare centre but that will take years of efforts and savings before I am able to do so. So, I guess I will be teaching and working my ass off to save. I also have dreams of being an air stewardess but I don’t have plans of leaving my friends and families.. so that will be my back up plan! Of course,   I would still love to be in the modeling industry if possible!

4. Use a word or phrase (you feel) describes yourself best

As stated on my Facebook “About Me” section: “My attitude changes in 5 seconds flat. From sweetheart to bitch. So don’t test that.”

5. What have you gained from your past experiences?

SO MUCH. I have met so many different kinds of people – good and bad ones. And there are so many things that I have learnt. From learning how to protect myself in this industry, to some life experiences that will be useful in the future. There are just so much that I could not probably write them down. But one thing for sure, I’ve learnt how to be a model.

6. Any advices for novices who are committed to succeed in your industry?

You have to learn from the basics- the posing, the expressions etc. Of course, you must have the passion. It is very important as I’ve seen girls that are in this industry for the money. You don’t need a very pretty face, but you need the attitude and passion to succeed and be willing to learn as well. If you’re determine and hardworking, you will succeed

1. Tell us more about yourself and the modeling industry, how it all started and what inspired it.

I’m Shanel. Same pronunciation as Chanel but starts with a S, and I’m 20 this year. Having freelance modeling as a full time.

I prefer having jobs in different kind of job scope, different places, running about. I’m a person who loves freedom, & carefree environment. So i can’t really work in places like offices or retail lines. But for events are not, it’s held at different locations and different jobscope to meet and socialise with different people and gain more experience.

I’d taken up photo shoots and some events/roadshows during my school days, and i wasn’t really active as i was still schooling. And my first official event was Asia AutoSalon held at Singapore Expo, after i graduated from my studies. It inspired me to move on more into this line, as it’s really my goals and character to work in carefree environment and socialize with people out there. It’s like having own time own target working lives and really don’t have to be under anyone’s command.

2. What would be the next upcoming/latest project that we can expect?

It would be a long term event; around a year. Might be up on television as well. The Garnier Skincare Ambassador.

3. Where do you see yourself heading in the next 5 years?

I would go for my goals and pursue my dreams. As from young, Air-Stewardess was my ambition. I bet that’s alot of girl’s dreams too (: As mentioned earlier, I love freedom & carefree life & environment.

Working as a Air-Stewardess, is always flying and going around different places of the world. It represents the carefree feel when you’re on the plane, and the freedom feel when you arrived at different countries to experience the culture there.

Nevertheless, I’ll still keep my modeling industry as a sideline even one day I’d succeed in fulfilling my dreams. As it’s gaining experiences and knowledge of how to socialize and handle situations out there, it benefits in the air-stewardess line too. Even I’ll not get famous someday in the modeling industry, but at least I tried. And of course I’ll work hard to make it come true definitely.

5. What have you gained from your past experiences?

I’ve learnt to express myself more and better to people out there and even my respond was much faster and doing things in a better way. Made a lot of friends [models/talents] and we often exchange our experience and different situations we’d came across etc. This industry had made me a smarter person? Exact to say, for photo shoots often we’d want photographers to approach us in different ways despite not knowing who they are or where they had our information from. So I tend to check and ask a few questions before agree to take up their offer for shoots. It need some skills of questions to know whether are they genuine photographers or just a scam. Well, this expand my experiences and knowledge in this line as modeling industry is really big and complicated at times. No fear of depth..

6. Any advices for novices who are committed to succeed in your industry?

Practice makes perfect. Strong Determinations and Perseverance are really important in the industry. Though you’ve met different obstacles and difficulties, just always have Confidence and Faith in yourself. Even you’re not a Diamond that every female loves, you might be a jade that someone would love and appreciate. So, love yourself!
