Food is our Common Ground

When Sabio on Main needed a fresh, modern website to help them bring a new level of dining experience in the heart of downtown Pleasanton, they turned to JVF to get it done right.

In an effort to re-envision their brand strategy for the digital age, JVF laid the groundwork with a custom design that engages customers with visually stunning photos and videos showcasing Sabio’s seasonal, modern tapas.

To simplify the reservation process we integrated the website with OpenTable, the most popular restaurant reservation software available, so that visitors can make a reservation without leaving the website.

User Experience

People are hungry and ready to eat, so we created a user experience that was clean, mobile-first, and easy to use. We simplified the navigation for Sabio’s complex menu, special event, and catering offerings, so visitors are informed about Sabio’s welcoming event spaces, locally sourced ingredients and eclectic wine selection.

To ensure the menus are always current, we eliminated the complexity of making tedious updates by integrating to MustHaveMenus. Menu updates only need to be made in one place, making it fast and convenient for Sabio to create, edit, and store all of their menus.

Mobile

We streamlined Sabio’s layout for mobile, so that users can enjoy the same unique experience from their smartphones and other mobile devices as their computer. The responsive web design makes it simple for online visitors to find the information they need with just a few taps of a finger.

The goal of the mobile layout was to entice the senses through an authentic dining experience. Sabio’s strength lies within their contemporary space, and their local organic ingredients, found in all of their food and artisan cocktails.

SEO

Troubleshooting Lotus Notes to View MailChimp HTML Email

Are you having issues with MailChimp HTML newsletters not rendering CSS in Lotus Notes? If you have corporate customers on your email list, chances are a good percentage of them use Lotus Notes.

While troubleshooting the issue, we found that Lotus Notes will not render any of the CSS styles from a MailChimp newsletter. Although, in Gmail, Outlook, Mac Mail, and other email clients, the email newsletters look just fine. Even when using the simple, no column MailChimp template, the spacing gets destroyed and everything is clumped together when received in a Lotus Notes/IBM Notes email client/server platform.

We also found that when you first receive the MailChimp newsletter in Gmail, and then forward it to a Lotus Notes email client, the newsletter will just look fine. Another strange occurrence we noticed is that if we access the MailChimp newsletter from the webmail version of Lotus Notes, instead of the desktop client, the email looks perfect.

How to Compose MailChimp Newsletters to Render in Lotus Notes

After some trial and error, we found a solution! Follow these steps to ensure that your MailChimp newsletters look sharp, and render correctly in the Lotus Notes/IBM Notes email client.

Solution:

1. Create your email newsletter using the built-in MailChimp templates. Or, import your own custom HTML. Be sure to include the CSS
2. After you have composed your newsletter, export the template as HTML
   • Templates -> Drop Down Arrow – Export as HTML
3. Create a new template as “Code your Own” and then Import the HTML you just exported, into the new template
   • Templates -> Create Template – Code Your Own -> Import
4. Navigate to the new template and then change the main “table” wrapper width from 100% to 600 and click save
   • Templates -> Edit Code Your Own -> Edit Code

Once the template is saved with the wrapper width set to 600, your email newsletter will render properly in Lotus Notes. Ultimately, there are few hoops to jump through, but you will not longer receive complaints about your newsletters from Lotus Notes users. Plus, you still get to use the great drag & drop functionality MailChimp has to offer.

Jaws-a-thon is the Dublin Elementary primary fall fundraiser for the Parent Faculty Club. 100% of all the money raised from pledges, donations and sponsorship’s are spent to enrich school programs, offset field trip costs, and purchase classroom supplies.

At JVF Consulting, we’re devoted to making a special impact on the children in our community. This year we are very proud to be a Jaws-a-thon sponsor for the 6th year in a row!

We would like to acknowledge the many volunteers, teachers, staff, and parents who donated their time to help make the 2017 Jaws-a-thon fundraiser a success. The school spirit was incredible, the kids ran their hearts out, and the parents did a wonderful job on the spirit competition.

Healthy Alternative to Cookie, Candy, and Bake Sales

Dublin Elementary really came together as a community, and everyone certainly showed their Shark pride! Altogether, the students ran 1,152 miles on Friday.  It is essential for youth to be physically active and mentally prepared for their future. Being a part of this fundraiser is an incredible opportunity and we will continue to support them in the future.

Email Account Configuration for iOS 11.2.6

It seems like everyone nowadays has an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch that they use to access their emails. As it turns out, one of the most popular questions we have from our clients now is “How do I setup my email account on my mobile device?”

This can be confusing for new iOS users, so we created article to show step-by-step you how to manually configure your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with your JVF Consulting email account(s) using the preferred POP3 protocol.

Since JVF relies on Liquid Web for our hosting, the steps we follow are specific to their requirements. If you do not use Liquid Web for your email routing, the following settings may not work for you, so beware.

Set Up an Account Manually

1. From the home screen click on Settings.
   
2. Next, tap on Accounts & Passwords.
3. In the Accounts section, tap Add Account.
4. Choose “Other” as your email account type.
5. Select Add Mail Account under the Mail section.
6. Fill in your account information including your name, email address and password. Then click Save.
   

   IMAP Email Settings

7. On the next screen, first click IMAP at the very top of the page. Once IMAP is selected, enter your email account details. The hostname is host(dot)jvfconsulting.com. For your username, enter your full email address. Passwords are case sensitive.
   
8. Upon successful verification and completion, you will be taken back to the Mail screen. Your email account is now ready to use, and will be listed in the Accounts section.
   

   POP Email Settings

9. On the next screen, first click POP at the very top of the page. Once POP is selected, you can then enter your email account details. Be sure to use your info in place of “youremail” & “yourdomain.”
   • Incoming Mail Server (POP)
     Host Name: jvfconsulting.com
     User Name: youremail@yourdomain.com
     Password: Passwords are case sensitive. If you do not know your password, you can reset it from the web-mail portal located at: yourdomain.com/webmail
     SSL: On
     Port: 995
   • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
     Host Name: jvfconsulting.com
     User Name: youremail@yourdomain.com
     Password: Enter your password
     SSL: On
     Port: 587
10. Upon successful completion, you will be taken back to the Mail screen. Your account will now be listed in the Accounts section. To update the port number, select the account and then click Outgoing Mail Server. Click on the Primary server jvfconsulting.com, then change the Server Port from 587 to 465 and then press Done.

Set Up Complete

Once verified, you will have a fully configured POP email account on your Apple iOS device. To send and receive messages, navigate to your email application.

Hacienda partnered with JVF to launch a mobile-first, interactive Google map, as a solution for showcasing their premier real estate locations for both working and living.

Using cutting-edge responsive design technology, we developed an engaging mobile and desktop experience, creating a real estate map that increased efficiency within the Hacienda workforce and their community. Now visitors can easily analyze a properties potential and understand it’s neighborhood trends to better help their needs.

Using Google Maps for Property and Data Visualization

Showing rather than telling is the key to understanding real estate. Google Maps helps visualize the real estate landscape through the use of internalized data that is already available. Check out the examples of what you can do when you combine your customer and property data with Google Maps.

The Google Map embedded on the Hacienda website displays a chart overlay using the Google Maps API. Data values are then displayed as colored overlays on the map. The map is then scaled to include all of the identified points, depending on browser size as it adapts to each device. As a user selects check-boxes from the tools on the left, the map instantly updates with the information on the fly.
