Engagement

Brad proposed to me on 1/4/18 at the Grand Canyon. We savored the moment in Sedona, AZ and celebrated at Elote Cafe.

Wedding Details

We tied the knot with Tide the Knot on 8/28/18 in Treasure Island, Florida. We had an intimate ceremony and dinner with immediate family. (It rained, but #itsalWright!)

We had a backyard celebration with friends & family in early October. Thank you for celebrating with us!

Gift Ideas

As many of you know, Brad and I have lived together for over three years. We're lucky enough to already have everything we could need! We'd really appreciate your help with a special experience on our honeymoon (click here):

We've been wanting to redo our windows and doors for the longest time! We'll be putting monetary gifts towards home renovations and our honeymoon.

We do most of our shopping at Aldi, Amazon, Kroger, Target, and Trader Joe's; gift cards to any of these places would be great!

We like to eat out once a week and occasionally try new places - a gift card to your favorite restaurant (in the Memphis area) would be appreciated.

Since we have four (sometimes stinky) cats, we can never have enough candles (or wax melts); we both really like clean or woodsy scents. Voluspa Moso Bamboo is one of our latest favorites - you can find it at Merry Magnolia.

I finished up 32 products in August & September. Most of the products I have "meh"/indifferent feelings about.

I finished up a lot of staples (like Tom's Mouthwash and Plackers Dental Flossers - great for Invisalign) and have already repurchased them. I do want to mention a few favorites, that I've also already repurchased or will soon.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution
This is the best makeup remover! I especially like how you don't have to rinse it off; it doesn't leave any residue. I'm pretty sure I'm on my 6th bottle now.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
Sometimes, I feel like products do not match their name. This one is 100% accurate. I loved the texture and how clean my skin felt. It isn't your typical soap/cleanser - there are no suds, and nothing to burn your eyes! This bottle lasted forever. I have a stockpile of cleansers from beauty boxes I need to get through right now. But I will definitely repurchase this.

Maybelline New York Volum' Express The Rocket Mascara
This is my favorite mascara; I always go back to it. It provides great volume and length.

Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment
I also always go back to this hair oil. Their signature scent smells amazing. It makes my hair so shiny and smooth.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
I love Oribe's products for the scent alone. I use this spray as both a dry shampoo and a styling spray. I've emptied a few sample and purses sizes. I haven't bought the full-size can yet - the price makes me hesitate - but I know it's worth it.

In my last empties post, I finished most of the Candlecopia zen sampler wax melts. I ended up purchasing the Fresh Sampler, too. I divided each sample into four diagonals to really maximize use. I did enjoy most of these. However, I prefer the zen fragrances more.

I still can't believe I'm raving about a $28 candle... This Voluspa Moso Bamboo candle was worth every penny. I tried hard to ration it out and only let it burn for an hour or two each day. Don't worry, the fragrance throw is definitely there - as it should be, for the price. I'll definitely repurchase another.

DHC Lip Cream
I finally realized fragranced lip balms were only making my chapped lips worse. My lips respond really well to Lanolin - aka Nipple Cream. While you can get a large bottle for under $10, it just isn't ideal to tote around and apply on-the-go. I'm loving this lip cream - or balm, rather. I really appreciate the lipstick-like packaging and no fragrance. It leaves a nice sheen behind; my chapped lips have improved a lot. I hope this works well in the winter, too!

LUSH Plum Rain Shower Gel
I'll admit I feel a little silly mentioning this tiny $12 shower gel. As a whole, the product isn't amazing. I'm mentioning this for the scent alone - I can't get enough of it. It's advertised as citrus, but it smells much more herbal to me - almost like a tomato vine. I really like that scent. When I found it in a bottle, I had to purchase it. It does lather well, but I don't find this super moisturizing.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream
I've been raving about this cream for fours months in a row now - it's that good. My skin feels amazing and glowy when I use it; I get dry patches when I don't. I can't recommend this product enough. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the rest of the Hydro Boost line!

It's been a long time since I missed a monthly favorites post! The first week of August was pretty hectic for me; I never got around to sharing my July Favorites. I hope you don't mind this two-in-one! I've been really into minimal makeup lately. I'm sure it's a mixture of the heat and working from home.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care Stick SPF 15
I was looking for a really moisturizing lip balm with SPF to take on my vacation to Florida. This lip balm had glowing reviews. My lips have responded really well to this - probably because it doesn't have any fragrance additives! It doesn't taste or smell great, but I like the moisture it provides.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara
I'm late to the party on this one. I received a sample in my Sephora Play! July Box. I understand the hype now! This mascara does an excellent job at both volumizing and lengthening. My only complaint is it does make my lashes feel kind of tacky - but it doesn't transfer.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream
I raved about this cream back in June; I'm still using it nightly! My skin responds so well to hyaluronic acid. I really like how this cream feels.

Pixi Brow Powder Palette Shades of Brows
I've gotten so much use out of this little palette. The multiple brown matte shades are great for both brows and eyeshadow.

The Wet Brush Paddle
I've had an oval Wet Brush for years; the green metallic paint was flaking off and getting everywhere. I finally decided to replace it with this sleek black paddle brush. I'm so glad I did! With my long, thick, hair this paddle brush makes brushing my wet hair even easier than the smaller oval one.

I discovered a few new-to-me products this month, and I've been really pleased with all of them.

Lancome Juicy Shaker in Piece of Cake
I purchased a few items from Sephora early in the month; this was the only item I ended up keeping. I thought this product was really gimmicky when I first saw it on social media. Not to mention, $22 seemed a bit steep for a glorified Lip Smackers product.

I'm not a lip gloss fan; this is more of a lip oil. The soft, cushion application feels really good. The my-lips-but-better shade was exactly what I was looking for. It provides a nice sheen but my hair (and pet hair) doesn't get stuck to my lips. It smells and tastes a little weird, but that's my only complaint!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream
I've been really impressed with this cream. I apply it every night before bed and my face looks and feels amazing the next morning. I wanted something with hyaluronic acid and this fit the bill. It's pricey for a drugstore product - $15-20 for a 1.7oz jar, but's it's so worth it!

OPI Infinite Shine Nail Polish
I'm not over-the-moon with either of these shades (OPI Taupe-less Beach & Dutch Tulips shown). But I am very impressed with the new formulation and shine these polishes provide. It seems this formulation lasts an extra day or two!

This month, I've been content with minimal makeup - so my favorites are really lacking.

I've been trying to find the perfect brow powder for awhile now. Most shades are always too red and I end up returning them. I discovered the Pixi By Petra Brow Powder Palette at the first of the month and I've been using it almost daily. I've been a huge fan of brow pencils for the longest time but powder looks so much more natural. I especially like how I can mix multiple shades to get the perfect match. Some days, this palette also doubles as an eyeshadow for me.

I've tried out a few highlighters over the past few months, but I always go back to BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Moonstone and wonder why I ever strayed away!

Dove Dry Spray Invisible Solid Antiperspirant in Clear Finish
When I was a teenager, I remember trying a lot of spray-on deodorants. They never dried and I walked around the house with my arms in weird position. Sometimes, I even resorted to using a blow dryer on my armpits so I could put a shirt faster.

I eventually just gave up on deodorant sprays. Over the past months, I've seen a lot of commercials and beauty gurus raving about the new Dove Invisible Spray line. I finally decided to try it out in the month of April and I'm glad I did! This dries almost instantly and has yet to leave any residue on my clothing. I really like the scent. It works great for me - but I don't lead a super active lifestyle.

GHD Smooth & Finish Serum
Something Navy raved about this serum quite a few times on her Instagram. We have completely different hair types, but I'm always impressed with her frizz-free hair. I'm really happy with this product. It smells great, tames most of my frizz, and adds just the right amount of shine. On the downside, I feel like it makes my curls fall faster if I use it as a finishing touch product.

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Light Sand
I raved about this back in February. It's still very much a favorite and currently the only concealer I use. I'm still really impressed with this and can't believe how much product is in the packaging! The wand is huge, nearly twice the size of other wand packaging. So it makes sense it's lasting twice as long!

(Birchbox Sample) I really liked this product but didn't love it enough to repurchase the full size. I prefer pencils to actually fill in my brows. If you already have fluffy brows, this tinted brow gel is for you!

Benefit They're Real! Mascara
(Sephora Play! Sample) This mascara is just okay to me. I've been through countless samples. I doubt I'll ever purchase the full size.

(Birchbox Sample) This moisturizer was nice and effective, it wasn't amazing - I don't see myself repurchasing the full size.

I originally purchased and tested three different shades. This was the closest shade to my skin tone. I sort-of liked it at first. Eventually, I realized it was too pink and sort of oxidizing throughout the day.

Makeup Forever Step 1 Smoothing Primer
(Sephora Play! Sample) I didn't find this effective. The scent was too overwhelming for my face.

Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara
This did nothing for my lashes.

Sensodyne Deep Clean Toothpaste*
This toothpaste did help with sensitivity but I didn't like the taste. I'm sort-of a toothpaste snob and only like really minty flavors. This had little to no mint flavor. (This product was sent to me complimentary for testing purposes.)

Bath & Body Works White Tea & Ginger Scented 3-Wick Candle
I really liked this scent. It's so fresh and light.

Bella Island Moonlight Scented Soy Candle
I really liked this scent. It's supposedly a dupe for Anthropologie's Capri Blue Volcano. This was my third candle. I think I got a dud this time around; the wick kept falling in on itself.

Better Homes & Gardens Tranquil Garden Spa Value Pack (12ct)
This is both a staple and an HG product for me.

DW Candle Soothing Crystal Large Double Wick Candle
I loved this scent in the store. It's so fresh and relaxing. Unfortunately, the throw just wasn't there. I could barely smell this while burning.

Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner
This toner has been on my wishlist for over a year. I saw it was in the Whole Foods Beauty Bag and I was super excited to finally try it out! I like how clean and refreshed it my makes my face feel.

NUXE Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm
This is my second pot of this balm. I've been using it for years. I usually slather it on before bed. My lips have been feeling really dry lately and this has helped a ton!

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist
I've been a huge fan of Glow Tonic for the past few months. I decided to try out another Pixi skincare product; I picked up this mist based on Estée's recommendation. This bottle has the perfect spray nozzle - it's the lightest mist I've ever tried. I've been using it under and over my makeup - just anytime I feel like my skin needs a drink. I love how it smells and it's really helped clear up some dry patches.

Revlon Crazy Shine Nail Buffer
My Trim nail buffer was looking pretty sad; it was a few years old. I picked up this on a whim at Kroger. It claimed "30% more shine", I ending up paying up for this just because it had more surface area compared to a regular nail block. I think their claim was right about the shine - my nails are SO shiny. It looks like I have a high-gloss clear coat on because of this.

Soap & Glory Face Soap And Clarity 3 In 1 Daily Detox Facial Wash
I'm a big fan of all things Soap & Glory. I received this in my Target Beauty Box last month. I've been using this face cleanser whenever I take a shower. Surprisingly, it doesn't have the typical Soap & Glory scent; I'm really liking this clean, spa-like scent. I love how it tingles and makes my face feel so clean. I usually like more abrasive cleansers with beads. This only has a few beads but it gets the job done!

Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick
I raved about this last month. I'm still using this sheer, beautiful berry shade almost daily.

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Light Sand
Is this product worth the hype? Absolutely! It was one of the most raved about products and out of stock for the longest time. I finally got my hands on one of the new shades. It's nearly a perfect match! Finding a yellow-toned concealer has always been a challenge for me. This concealer is full coverage and finishes beautifully. The size of this is nearly double drugstore wands - which definitely helps justify the higher price.

Using 2 Eyebrow Colors
I've recently discovered using two eyebrow pencil shades for a more natural look. These are very similar but one is lighter than the other. I've been using NYX Mirco Brow Pencil in Ash Brown and Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Pencil together most of the month.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips
I totally bought this just because of the packaging. (I think it was limited edition for Valentine's Day.) I really like the minimal tint and moisture this supplies.

7 Wonders Himalayan Camellia Pore Minimizing Sheet Mask
(Birchbox) Sheet masks are becoming my go-to for convenience. I didn't notice a major improvement in my skin after using this one.

Acure Organics Pore Minimizing Facial Scrub
(Birchbox Sample) This scrub was really weird. It was very fragrant, in a natural way. It was almost the color of coffee. I ended up using this on my body instead of my face - the smell and color was just too much for me to handle. I prefer more abrasive scrubs. I wasn't really a fan of this one.

AHAVA Dead Sea Plants Body Sorbet in Mandarin and Cedarwood*
(GWP Deluxe Sample) I just recently discovered AHAVA products. I liked this lotion and the scent too. The small bottle was great for on-the-go. I just prefer coconut oil.

Almay Clear Complexion Concealer in Light
This worked really well at covering blemishes and redness. I might repurchase this in the future.

Assured Cotton Rounds (80ct)
Compared to Swisspers Premium rounds, these are terrible. They fall apart so easily. I won't be cheaping out again.

Aveeno Positively Nourishing Comforting Whipped Soufflé
At first, I was disappointed in this product. For some reason, I thought I was purchasing a body butter. "Whipped soufflé" is an accurate name. This lotion grew on me. I liked the scent, I just prefer richer creams or coconut oil.

belif Hungarian Water Essence*
(GWP Deluxe Sample) I cashed in some of my Sephora points a belif set. This was one of the products included. I felt like it did help with putting moisture back into my face. I used this with other creams. On its on, it didn't feel like much. I don't see myself repurchasing this product.

Benefit They're Real! Tinted Lash Primer*
(GWP Deluxe Sample) I only used this a few times. It just seemed like an unnecessary extra step that added more time. I wasn't happy with the outcome - sticky, droopy lashes. Mascara on its own works just fine for me.

Bikini Zone Medicated After Shave Gel
This is great at stopping razor burn and ingrown hairs. I just purchased another brand, but I'm sure I'll come back to this one again.

Christophe Robin Regenerating Hair Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil
(Sephora Play! Deluxe Sample) My hair felt amazing after using this mascara. However, I didn't care for the smell at all. It smells like a grandma wearing too much powdery perfume. Luckily, the scent only lingered for a few hours.

DenTek Complete Clean Easy Reach Floss Picks (75ct)
I picked these up at Kroger on a whim. I like how they are angled and featured a nice pick on the opposite end. They were a little annoying to store in comparison to the regular floss pickers. I'll probably repurchase these.

This is a staple and an HG product for me.

Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Hemp Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Soap
I wanted to try this soap for a while. It was great for my sensitive skin. I primarily used this as a shaving gel. It worked okay but I really prefer richer, buttery soaps.

Etude House My Lash Serum
I got this for under $5. I read it was supposed to make your eyebrows grow faster. I don't have any issues in the lash department but my eyebrows are another story! I'm not if this was effective or not. I used it every day for a month or two. I ending up switching to castor oil & vitamin E.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
(Deluxe Sample) This is probably my favorite primer. I like the silicon feel and find it effective. I have a lot of samples to get through, but I'll probably repurchase this.

Suave Essential Daily Clarifying Shampoo
This was a very effective shampoo for under $2! It really got rid of all the product buildup in my hair. I'll definitely repurchase this.

Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick
I received this in my Sephora Play! Box this month. I was really afraid this was going to be a very dark, vampy shade. But it's actually more of a tinted balm. It's a beautiful berry shade. It's really easy to apply on-the-go. I've been wearing this almost every day since I received it!

DERMA E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub
I received this my Birchbox months ago, it's been in my "to-try" pile for awhile. I finally got around to trying it this month and I'm loving it. I use it once or twice a week. I don't care for the scent - PineSol? But I do love how clean my skin feels after using this. It's a neat silver color with small, scrubbing beads. It tingles in the best way.

Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Big Shot Mascara
I'm sure you've seen the ads for this EVERYWHERE; I fell for the endless ads on this one. I didn't read any reviews before purchasing it. First impression: I loved it. The huge brush took a few applications to get used to but I really liked how my lashes looked for the first few weeks wearing this. I'm now on week 5, I'm finding it's becoming more messy lately. I do really like this mascara, but it isn't replacing my HG - The Rocket Volum' Express.

2016 Beauty Favorites

I'm excited to bring you my annual favorites for the seventh year in a row! It was neat to look back on my favorites from 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. In years past, I did a long list of favorites featuring one product from every category. This year, I want to change it up a bit and feature a handful of products I truly loved and used most of the year.

Top 10 Most-Used Products in 2016:

Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed
This is my favorite highlighter, hands down. I love that's subtle and not super glittery, but it still provides a beautiful glow.

This sponge blends out concealer and foundation beautifully. Every now and then, I try using my fingers or a brush instead - it just doesn't compare!

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution
This is the best makeup remover I've ever tried. It gets off super stubborn mascara and lipstick. It doesn't irritate my eyes or skin. I like that rinsing it off isn't absolutely necessary.

ColourPop Lumière Pencil
I have mixed feelings about this pencil. It's one of my most-used lip products so I had to include it. I love the color - a mauve, my-lips-but-better shade. However, I really dislike the packaging. I typically don't buy liners unless they twist-up; I made an exception for this.

Coconut Oil
Any brand will do. I usually buy mine off Amazon but I just recently picked up this jar from Target. Whichever brand you buy, make sure it's unrefined (virgin/pure). I primarily use this as a lotion; it's an excellent moisturizer. After I take a shower, I slather myself in this from neck to toe. (It broke out my face badly.) It's also great for healing cuts and scratches.

e.l.f. Shape & Stay Brow Pencil
I've been letting my brows grow out the entire year. This wax is great for mornings when I don't feel like wearing makeup but just want to tame my brows. It's also great under or over brow makeup, too.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
I don't think I've ever liked a cleanser this much. The name is spot-on; this cleanser is milky & jelly. I love that it doesn't sting my eyes or ever turn into a sudsy/foamy mess. It's very effective combined with Bioderma.

Maybelline Volum' Express The Rocket Mascara
I've mentioned this mascara a few years in a row now. It's probably my most-purchased makeup item. I love how it makes my lashes look with just a few coats. It really lengthens, volumizes, and defines.

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones
I feel like I'm sort of cheating because I didn't discover this product until towards the end of the year. I mentioned this in my monthly favorites three months in a row. This dry shampoo smells wonderful and absorbs every bit of oil. I love how it's tinted - I never have to worry about a white cast or rubbing it in perfectly.

Moroccanoil Treatment Original
I apply this to my damp hair only once or twice a week. It makes my hair so soft and shiny. I have to mention the signature scent again - I can't get enough.

ColourPop Smoke n Whistles Cheek Shock Highlighter
I've owned this for awhile but I recently started reaching for it more around the holidays. This highlighter is SO shimmery. It's beautiful but I feel like it's too much for everyday wear. I like wearing it for night outings and special occasions. The texture is really neat - a bouncy cream that dries to a shimmery powder. If you want an extra shimmery highlighter, this is for you!

Hair Tamers Alligator Clips
These are technically salon blow dry clips. They're not attractive but just ONE of these can hold all of my (ridiculously thick, long, layered) hair into a bun for hours! I'm really impressed with these! I've always had to avoid clips in the past because they fall out in five minutes. Luckily, these grippy/claw clips work!

Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones
I've raved about this three months in a row. I finally purchased the full-size. This formula works really well. I love that I don't have to worry about completely blending it in. Moroccanoil's signature scent is amazing!

Almay Makeup Eraser Sticks (24ct)
These are super convenient to clean-up mascara mishaps. I'm hoping these aren't becoming discontinued; I can't find them in-store. I purchased a few packages on eBay!

Assured Cotton Rounds (100ct)
These were very thin and left a lot of lint/cotton behind. I'll stick with Swisspers!

Bath & Body Works Sunflower Citrus Anti-bacterial Hand Gel
This product was effective. I liked the very very-citrus scent.

Batiste Strength & Shine Dry Shampoo
This product was effective. I liked the clean and refreshing scent. Unfortunately, I didn't notice much shine. I'll probably repurchase another bottle, anyway!

This makeup sponge has become a must-have for me. I got a new one months (a year?) ago but never made the switch. I noticed this old one was starting to get moldy - ew! I've finally switched to the new one.

This is a great layering mascara, I don't care for it on its own.

Belief The True Cream Aqua Bomb (GWP sample)
I bought a few things from Sephora and received this as a freebie. It ended up being my favorite thing in the whole order! The watery-gel like consistency felt really awesome and moisturizing. I received another sample, but I'm sure I'll consider purchasing the full-size.

This is a staple and a HG product for me.

I was so excited when I saw I would be receiving a mini travel-friendly Bioderma bottle in my Birchbox... I was wrong. The product itself is great. But this sample packaging was terrible and the complete opposite of travel-friendly!

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiant Serum (foil packet)
I'm obsessed with Vinosource Sorbet, so I decided to give this a try. I wasn't impressed with this product at all. The consistency was very watery. The single-use packet didn't do anything magical for my skin.

Colgate Sparkling White Mint Zing Toothpaste
This toothpaste was just okay. It tasted weird mixed with mouthwash.

Coola Radical Recovery After-sun Lotion (Birchbox sample)
I really liked applying this to sunburned areas. It helped cool the red areas and I didn't peel!

Crest 3D White Radiant Mint Toothpaste (sample)
I really like the 3D white line, but I didn't care for this flavor.

Davines SU Hair & Body Wash (Birchbox sample)
This shampoo was just okay. I liked the scent and the utilitarian bottle, but the product itself didn't do much for my hair.

Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash (sample)
I really liked this body wash. It had tiny beads to scrub away dead skin, it smelled great, and was very thick and luxurious. I'll probably repurchase the full-size!

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Exfoliator (Birchbox sample)
I really like this face scrub. It makes my skin feel and look good. I've finished up quite a few samples but can't bring myself to spend $79 on the full size.

Farmacy Skin Dew Hydrating Mist & Setting Spray (Sephora Play! sample)
The spray nozzle on this sample sucked; it came out as hard as water hose. I was hoping for more of a light mist. I used this as a toner. I really like it at first, but later it started irritating my skin.

Kopari Coconut Oil Coconut Crush Scrub (Birchbox sample)
I really liked this body scrub. The product itself wasn't attractive. However, it smelled like coconut cake and did a great job at removing dead skin. Part of me wishes this was packaged in a tub - towards the end of the tube, it was so hard to get any product out.

Jane Iredale HandDrink Hand Cream (Birchbox sample)
This hand cream was too lightweight - it almost felt like water. It didn't do much for skin. I prefer thicker creams.

Joico K-Pak Conditioner (1L)
This is a staple and a HG product for me. Another liter finished! This has to be my 4th or 5th bottle. I already repurchased another.

Lancome Energie De Vie Serum (Sephora Play! sample)
This serum was way too watery. I didn't notice any difference in my skin.

Macadamia Professional Weightless Moisture Leave-in Conditioning Mist (Birchbox sample)
This has to be the largest "sample" I've ever received - it lasted nearly a year! I really enjoyed this product, the scent and the results were great. I'll probably purchase the full-size.

OPI Nail Polish in Ali's Big Break (Mini)
I liked this glittery-red shade, the bottle was a few years old and time to be tossed!

I think this is one of my oldest nail polishes. I've added nail thinner to it one too many times. I really like this shade. It's just time for a new bottle.

Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo (Birchbox sample)
I love all-things Oribe. I was really excited when they released a new dry shampoo. The scent is wonderful, but this absorbed almost none of my hair oil. I was super disappointed with this product.

NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Nude
This lip liner was just okay. The color was nice but slightly too orange for me. The past few times I attempted to apply it, the tip would break off. I'm finally giving up and tossing it.

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner
I've been through quite a few bottles of this toner. I felt like it was really effective but eventually became to abrasive. I just purchased a gentler option.

This is a staple and a HG product for me.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes (7ct)
These weren't very effective - they left behind a lot of makeup.

Smashbox 24HR Photo Finish Shadow Primer (sample)
This primer worked well but doesn't outshine any others.

Smashbox Photo Finish Color Adjusting Primer
I've been working on this tube for years. The primer itself worked great, but I didn't really notice it "color adjusting" or fixing any redness.

Soap & Glory Clean on Me Shower Gel
I really enjoyed this shower gel. The scent is amazing. It lathered really well and lingered for just the right amount of time.

Swisspers Cotton Rounds (100ct)
This is a staple and a HG product for me.

Tarte Tarteguard SPF 30 (Sephora Play! sample)
I really liked this sunscreen. Unfortunately, this sample packaging design was really bad. The pump only went halfway into the tube. It was impossible to get half the product out. I gave up and ending up wasting half the product.

Tom's Of Maine Wicked Fresh! Cool Mountain Mint Mouthwash (4)
This is a staple and a HG product for me. I really like this mouthwash since it's dye free and not totally obnoxious/strong. Target had these on sale for under $3, so naturally, I cleared the shelf...

Vichy 4-in-1 Micellar Solution (sample)
This micellar water was effective but I still prefer Bioderma.

Viva Labs Organic Coconut Oil (16oz)
Coconut oil is a staple and a HG product for me. This was my first time purchasing Viva Labs brand, it was cheaper and just as effective as the other brands. I primarily use coconut oil as a lotion. After every shower, I slather myself in it. I rarely suffer from dry skin anymore.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color in Bare It All
I liked this lipstick a lot at first, but it dried out pretty quickly. I'm tossing more than 80% of the tube.

YSL Mon Paris Perfume (Sephora Play! sample)
It's hard to explain this scent. The notes are all over the place: "Strawberry, Raspberry, Bergamot, Calone, Pear, Orange Flower, Jasmin Sambac, White Peony, Datura, Patchouli, White Musk, Ambrox, Cedarwood, Crystal Moss" It's floral, fruity, and clean all at the same time. This typically isn't a scent I go for but Brad really liked it. I liked wearing it when I wanted a change from my regular perfume (Stella). I might purchase a mini-size, but I doubt I would ever finish a full bottle.

Bath & Body Works Autumn Three-Wick Candle
I usually purchase this scent every fall. I like how this scent is both girly and clean. The apple notes really stand out to me.

Bath & Body Works Leaves Three-Wick Candle
I also purchase this scent every fall. It smells like spiced fall in a jar. The cinnamon notes stand out the most to me.

Better Homes & Gardens Fall into Autumn Candle
I really enjoyed the wax cubes in this scent last month, so I purchased the candle. The candle really disappointed me - the throw was just not there. It smelled great in the jar, but when lit, it lost a lot of its potency.

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Pencil
I received this in my Birchbox. I assumed this was a sample - but it's actually full size; the product size is equivalent to ABH Brow Wiz. This taupe color matches me surprisingly well. The tiny, precise point is so easy to work with. I've been reaching for this over NYX Microbrow and ABH Brow Wiz.

CocoLuxe Organic Coconut Oil Squeeze Tube
I went on a cruise the week of Thanksgiving. I knew coconut oil had to come with me, but I had no idea how to safely travel with it. After a quick Google search, I discovered CocoLuxe. I'll admit $11.99 for 3.4oz is a total rip-off; (I'm used to purchasing 16oz for under $9.) The convenience of the squeeze tube and knowing it wasn't going to leak all in my suitcase was totally worth the price. (You can buy it here.)
Kleenex Fresh & Go Wipes
When I'm in a rush in the morning, I've really been liking these wipes to remove makeup off my hands and quickly spot-clean my brushes. I like how soft and not soaking-wet these wipes are. These aren't a must-have, but they're super convenient.

MoroccanOil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones
I raved about this dry shampoo last month. I'm still really adoring this product. It works extremely well at absorbing oil. The signature MoroccanOil scent is a plus, too. I'm expecting the full-size in the mail any day now!

ColourPop Smoke N Whistles Super Shock Cheek
This formula is so unique - it's sort of bouncy; it's somewhat cream-like but dries to a powder. I really like how shimmery this highlight is. On the downside, the color is slightly too dark for me, I'll probably be back for a few more colors soon.

Maybelline Volum'Express The Rocket Mascara
This is hands-down my favorite mascara of all-time. I strayed away from it for awhile (to use up some high-end beauty box samples). Every time I open a new tube, I can't believe I took a break from it.
MoroccanOil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones
This is my first tinted dry shampoo. I used up my remaining Birchbox points to purchase this. The dry shampoo itself is nice. I really adore the fact I don't have to spend minutes rubbing in the powder-white residue. This dark tones formula blends really nicely with my brunette hair.

ProfilePRO Ultra Nourishing Oil
I got this in my Birchbox months ago. I put it to the side because I love my MoroccanOil treatment. I started using this on dry hair to tame frizz. It works really well and I like the clean scent. It's not a MoroccanOil replacement, but it's nice to change things up!

These were incredibly flimsy and difficult to work with. Not a fan.

I liked this at first but it just became way too chemically for me. I prefer coconut oil or other natural solutions.

This toothpaste was a Dollar Tree find. It had a nice taste and was effective.

I love the toothpaste (mentioned next), so I wanted to try the mouthwash. I can't stand the texture of foaming mouth wash. Since it's whitening, I should've known better. I finished the bottle anyway.

I've only heard raving reviews about Harry's razors. I tried to use this razor for nearly two months. No matter what type of shaving cream or soap I used, I always had razor burn. Unfortunately, this razor just didn't get along with my sensitive skin; I always had irritation everywhere after using this razor. I've switched back to my beloved Venus + Olay.

(Birchbox Sample) I couldn't get passed the weird brush. I tried to use this mascara for about two weeks, it always resulted in a huge mess. I gave up.

Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser
(Birchbox Sample) This cleanser was okay. The smell and results weren't wonderful.

Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes (25 ct)
This was my old HG, I've been much more into micellar water and cleansers for a deeper clean.

NYX HD Concealer in 02
I've been through a few of these concealers. For the price, it's an excellent concealer. Unfortunately, I felt like the undertones no longer matched me.

I mixed this with the shade mentioned above. It's great a concealer, just not my shade.

OPI French Quarter for your Thoughts Nail Lacquer
This is probably one of the oldest nail polishes I owned. (I'm thinking it was at least 6 years old!) I decided to toss it because it was separating badly and not applying well. This is one of the best gray nail polishes I've seen. I'll repurchase a new bottle in the near future.

The Organic Pharmacy Purifying Seaweed Clay Mask
(Birchbox Sample) This mask was nice; it made my skin feel really soft. I don't think it's worth the price tag, though.

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner
This a staple and a HG product for me. I'm now on my 4th bottle!

These cheapie flossers make flossing so much easier! This brand was much more sturdy than the AIM brand mentioned above. These are becoming a staple for me.

Plus White 5 Minute Speed Whitening Gel
This was my old HG. With starting Invisalign, I don't have the time (or need) to whitening my teeth. This product was pretty old and about 80% empty.

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
Seche Vite is the best top coat there is. On the downside, it gets incredibly thick and unusable half-way through the bottle. I've already repurchased another - my 5th bottle.

Trying to find a dye-free mouthwash was pretty difficult. I went with this one because it was natural and dye-free. I wish it was slightly more minty but I like it because it's not super abrasive. I've already purchased a few more bottles!

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
(Sephora Play! sample) This mascara just didn't work for me. It didn't provide voluminous lashes; nor did it layer well with others.

VitaCoco Coconut Oil
(sample) Traveling with coconut oil is a pain-in-the-behind. I received a few samples of this just before a weekend trip and it made travel and application so easy!

Fall into Autumn is a cheesy and perfect name for this scent. It smells exactly like Fall to me. It's sort of perfumey but still very pleasant. I've already purchased a few more packages!

This is my favorite all-time favorite BH&G scent!

Better Homes & Gardens Warm Rustic Woods Scented Wax Cubes (6 ct)
I like this scent when I want a change from the two mentioned above, it's very woodsy.

Almay Clear Complexion Concealer in Light
I've been using NYX HD Concealer for months. I felt like it was no longer the right shade. I purchased this because MakeupbyTiffanyD mentioned it. I've really been liking this concealer. The shade range is minimal, but the shade 'Light' works pretty well for me. This concealer contains salicylic acid, so it heals blemishes in additional to concealing them. The aloe and chamomile soothe redness, too.

belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb
I purchased a few things from Sephora.com; I received this as a bonus freebie. This cream ended up being my favorite thing in the whole order! This cream is so light and gel-like; it's full of hydration. It leaves my face smooth and refreshed - like it just drank many cups of water.

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara
I've used this mascara a few times in the past. I received another sample and fell in love with it all over again. It's a great lifting and curling mascara, just as it claims!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
I raved about this cleanser back in May. It's still a favorite! This cleanser is so gentle and makes my face incredibly soft.

Manna Kadar Fantasy 3-in-1 Blush Highlighter Eyeshadow
I had mixed feelings when I received this in my August Birchbox. I didn't really need another brown eyeshadow, but I was happy it wasn't a vibrant purple or some color I'd never wear. This grew on me more and more each day; it's currently all I wear on my eyelids and cheeks. The color is soft and glowy. When wearing this on my cheeks, I don't feel like I need to also add a highlighter. I especially like how it's a multitasking product; it makes getting ready that much easier.

Marcelle Xtension Plus Curl Mascara
I mentioned this last month. I'm still really liking this mascara. I seem to like mascaras even more after a month when they've dried up some - this one is no exception.

NYX Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil (Ash Brown)
I've tried a few different brow products lately - pomades, gels, and thick pencils. I keep coming back to this ultra thin pencil. It's perfect for filling in patchy brows.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
I originally tried this mascara in the Naked on the Run Palette over a year ago; I wasn't a fan. I received this mascara in my August Sephora Play! box and I decided to give it a try again. I'm really liking it layered over the Marcelle mascara mentioned above. Combined together, they almost look like false lashes. →

Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo
After trying so many texturizing sprays and hair oils lately, I could feel so much product buildup in my hair. I don't like spending a lot on shampoos; I purchased this on a whim from Walgreens for under $2. My hair finally feels squeaky clean again. I've been using this clarifying shampoo every other wash.

ACT Advanced Care Clean Mint Mouthwash
I received samples of this in my Pinch Me box and Walmart Beauty Box, I liked it so much I purchased the HUGE bottle. If you're looking for a mouthwash that's effective but doesn't sting - this one is for you!

Almay Oil-Free Eraser Sticks (24 ct)
I really like these for the convenient factor. They're great at fixing mascara mishaps. The price seems to keep increasing. I'm going to wait it out for a 40% off sale then stock up.

Assured Cotton Swabs (200 ct)
A basic staple.

Band-Aid Friction Block Stick
This stick saved me from blisters so many times. I used to keep this in my bag at all-times; it was great to have for long, busy work days.

Bath & Body Works Anti-bacterial Handibac Hand Spray Fresh Lemon
I kept this in my car. I liked the lemon scent. I guess it was a effective. I'm not sure I would repurchase it - I prefer gels.

Bath & Body Works Iced Pear Margarita Sugarcane Scrub
I purchased this on a total whim. I needed a new scrub. I typically don't go for fruity scents but I liked this one, for some reason. The sugar scrub was very effective and melted away in the water - no product build-up in the shower/drain. Win-win.

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara
(Birchbox sample) I really like this mascara, though I'm not sure I want to purchase it for $24. Samples always seem to be available.

Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
(Birchbox sample) This mask was just meh to me. I don't understand the hype. The smell was whatever and the results were nothing compared to my HG hair mask - Macadamia Professional Moisture Mask.

Caudalie Lip Conditioner
I've finished up a few of these. While I wouldn't purchase it on it's own. It does seem to come in gift sets often. I like it but cheaper drugstore alternatives are just as effective.

Clarins Gentle Care Roll-On Deodorant
I really liked this deodorant, but compared to other brands, I flew through this Clarins one. Spending $20 on deodorant each month isn't feasible for me.

Clear Scalp and Hair Strong Lengths Nourishing Shampoo
I'm a big fan of drugstore shampoos - this is one of the better ones I've tried. I like the scent. It does a good job at getting my hair squeaky-clean; I'll probably repurchase it soon.

Crest 3D White Luxe Glamorous White Toothpaste in Vibrant Mint
This is my favorite toothpaste. I love the flavor - minty but not overwhelming.

Derma e Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask
(Birchbox sample) I used this once. It was just too messy for me. The results didn't seem worth the hassle.

Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash
I've finished a few of these. I like the scent and lather. I'll repurchase it again.

Dove Gentle Exfoliating Beauty Bar
I wasn't a fan of this. The micro-beads were too scratchy at times and non-existent at others.

ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
This primer worked well, and you can't beat the price!

Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo
(Target Beauty Box sample) I was surprisingly happy with this dry shampoo. It went on clear, smelled decent, and absorbed most oil.

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor Cartridge (3)
This is both a staple and a holy grail product for me; I won't continue to rave.

Harvey Prince Ageless Body Cream
(Birchbox sample) I'm not a fan of perfume scented lotions. I've had this on my desk for a year, I finally finished it. The lotion itself was nice but the scent was overwhelming. Not a fan.

It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Mascara
Another meh product. I didn't really like this mascara on it's own. 5-in-1? It hardly made an impact on my lashes. I layered it with other mascaras.

MAC Cosmetics Cleanse Off Oil
This was my old HG, I'm more into micellar waters now.

MAC Cosmetics False Lashes Mascara
(GWP sample) This was one of the messiest mascaras I've ever used. The formulation was very wet and the sample wand was hard to work with.

Macadamia Professional Healing Oil Spray
(Birchbox sample) This spray was nice when I was on-the-go and needed some hair moisture. I liked the scent. I prefer regular oil - Moroccanoil Treatment Original is my HG.

Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Masque
(Birchbox sample) I've been through quite a few full sized tubs of this. It's my HG!

MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant Mascara
(GWP sample) This mascara wasn't anything special on its own, nor did it layer well. Not a fan.

Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunscreen SPF 50
I only used about half of this - the expiration was a month a way. I thought it would be okay to use, I applied it constantly and still got sun-burned badly. I haven't had this issue with Neutrogena sunscreens in the past. Lesson learned: make sure the expiration date is months out.

Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Aging Wet Cleansing Cloths (30 ct)
I purchased these just because they were on sale. They were nice but I prefer the Regenerist ones.

Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray
(Birchbox sample) I love the way Oribe products smell. Honestly, I didn't notice much difference between this and the Dry Texture Spray. Both add texture and make your hair smell divine. I choose this as my August sample choice. I liked it enough to want another mini bottle!

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner
I've been really impressed with this toner. It's done a good job at cleaning my skin and evening out my skin tone. Unfortunately, I flew the bottle pretty quickly. I already repurchased another.

Skinfix Ultra Rich Body Butter
(Target Beauty Box sample) This body butter was rich and effective.

Clearly, I liked this scent so much I bought three, and I'm currently burning the last one I have. It's described as fresh water and sea salt - which is actually a perfect description. It smells like sunscreen and salty, sweaty, beachy skin. While that probably isn't appealing to some - when you're dreaming of a vacation... it is!

ScentSationals Zen Scented Wax Cubes (6 ct)
I'm happy I found a new-to-me, cheap, Wal-Mart scent! I'm really liking this scent. It smells clean and spa-like. I already went back and purchased the 12 count value pack.

ELF Shape & Stay Brow Pencil
I mentioned this back in my March Favorites. I've still been really liking this product and using it almost daily. I've been growing out my brows, so instead of constantly plucking them, I've been relying on this to shape my brows.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator
I've been wanting a cream highlighter for awhile. When I found this in my PO box, I was over the moon. Most highlighters have a pink or orange undertone that doesn't really work for me. Luckily, this one is more of a pearly-yellow. I finally discovered the best way to apply this is just with your fingers; it melts onto the skin and gives a beautiful glow that stays almost all day long. (Disclaimer: I received this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster.)

Marcelle Xtension Plus Curl Mascara
I received this in my July Birchbox. "Great, another mascara sample." was my first thought. But come to find out, I really like this mascara. It lengthens and curls, as it claims. If you're a fan of Benefit's Rollerlash, you'll really like this, as well.

Nivea A Kiss of Milk & Honey Lip Balm
In July, I started Invisalign - which means I had to say goodbye to most of my (tinted & glossy) lip products. (The clear trays stain really easily.) I resorted to an oldy but goody - this balm. I went and purchased a few more. This balm is now everywhere I need it: my purse, desk, and nightstand.

Ouai Wave Spray
I received this in my July Sephora Play! box. (For whatever reason, it arrived without a label.) This spray is great - it's lightweight and adds a lot of texture to get the beachy waves look. I really like the fresh scent, as well.
