I'm the worst blogger ever! I know. It's not my fault. Life gets in the way sometimes. Anyway, thought that the good weather would bring me out of my cocoon and help me to take more pics with the help of Instagram.

The NeatDesk. It scans all your papers, receipts, business cards! I already have a super fantastic scanner/printer, but this one is so compact and much more functional in terms of what I want it for; paperless living, or at least paper reduced living.

My (soon-to-be) New Living Room

I'm moving so I've been obsessing over my new house. I need new furniture. I've been clipping everything to Evernote, which makes it so much easier to shop online and match items. Also enables my obsessive behaviour. (>_<)

Here's what I've put together.

I'm doing a living room / working space combination, where I can watch tv and work, but still make it cozy enough that it doesn't seem too officey.

I couldn't find the rug that is in the picture with the couch, but I found something that works a bit better.

Nail polish remover gets melted crayon out of the dryer. Who knew?!? Certainly not I. Here's the before and after. I actually went over it again with the nail polish remover to get more than just the crayon out.

I'm so cheap. I don't think I've paid more than $40 for an item (except for my winter coat...). My whole outfit today probably cost no more than $60.

My Natural Hair: The Ressurection

I decided to start blogging about my hair again at My Natural Hair, after nearly a year of not doing so consistently or productively. It's not that big of a deal, really. I just want to share some of the things that I do and some of the products I love but I don't want to make my online life all about hair. I am not my hair. I really am not.

But I love my hair and I'm glad there are more and more women who are wearing it natural, so I'm going to continue to share.

I'm not solely concerned about natural ingredients anymore. I realized that I don't have to be. There are so many products out there now that have what I'm looking for without me having to special order things at ridiculous prices. It's just not sustainable.

So, there you have it. Hopefully I'll get a chance to take more pictures too. I'm looking forward to the next year of my life. I really am.

Butter Shrimp Recipe

Olivia asked for the recipe so here it is. It's very simple and since I love love love shrimp, I make it often.

1 pack of rice pasta
1 bunch of green onions
20-25 shrimp
3 tablespoons of margarine or salted butter
1 teaspoon of Mrs. Dash
Adobo seasoning or garlic powder
A pinch of salt
A pinch of potato starch

In a sauce pan, combine cooked shrimp with butter and let it melt. Add your adobo or garlic powder or both, salt, Mrs. Dash and starch to the pan. Thicken the sauce until you reach the desired thickness. Add a little water if you don't want to use so much butter. Serve over rice pasta and add tons and tons of green onions.

Voila! A quick and easy way to have shrimp for dinner.

I've been away. Life got in the way. Life does that sometimes.

Fundraising Event for Amnesty International

Last weekend I had a wonderful conversation with a friend, Simmy, about a fundraising effort she has joined. I couldn't resist taking pics while we talked. Hehehe.

It's Amnesty International's 50th anniversary and in celebration of this milestone, she's participating in the Taste for Justice event.

Over 5 decades, Amnesty members have:

• Helped release tens of thousands who’ve been imprisoned for their beliefs or way of life
• Ended the death penalty in dozens of countries
• Spoken out to bring human rights abusers to account
• Changed laws and lives

We want to continue on with that tradition and I'm hoping you'll join us in making even a donation to this event. You can visit Simmy's page here.

I'm getting back into photography. I've been overwhelmed by a busy schedule this summer so the camera was neglected. I hope to change that. I just need a tripod and some time to drive into the city to add some character in my backgrounds. Another lens would do me good too.

Last Weekend

Last weekend I went to Chicago to attend WordCamp. It was tons of fun and the perfect excuse to see one of my fave cities.

Gosh, it was bright and sunny.

I took the train everywhere and walked more than I have in years.

Had tons of these:

By far, the best margarita I've had. It was guava. Yummm...

I know her from 'Jar of Hearts'. Why is it that the song's been on the radio for a while but I'm now just listening to the lyrics? That happens sometimes. She is a very talented woman with a very solid album, so while her first single was a hit, the other songs do not disappoint. Artists like these restore my faith in music as an art.
