After a total of 935,884 online votes, Kapamilya Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo emerged as the hottest/brightest star in the country under 20 years old. Her on-screen partner--Daniel Padilla--came forth as her runner up.

Kathryn garnered a whopping 203,736 total number of votes in the online poll conducted by Starmometer which lasted for 14 days (two weeks). The Kapamilya Primetime Princess bested 49 other nominees from August 4 to 8 when the online voting began, until the poll was trimmed down to the final 20 and voting continued with integration of Twitter votes from August 8 to 18, 2013.

Kathryn's on-screen partner, Daniel Padilla, occupied the no. 2 slot by getting a total number of 148,415 votes. It's interesting to note that Kathryn and Daniel also captured the no. 1 and 2 slots in the first edition of our "Hottest 20 Under 20" poll in 2011. Kathryn and Daniel are set to star in the new Kapamilya primetime series "Got to Believe."

The new lead stars of the youth-oriented sitcom "Luv U" made an impressive debut in our #Hottest20Under20 poll. Nash Aguas bagged the bronze position (#3) with 143,265 votes. His co-stars Jairus Aquino and Sharlene San Pedro finished 5th and 6th, respectively.

Meanwhile, two artists from the latest batch of Star Magic Circle--Jerome Ponce and Jane Oineza--made it to the Top 10. Jerome, who is a cast-member of "Be Careful With My Heart," placed 4th while Jane, a New York Festivals Best Actress nominee for her 'MMK' performance, ranked 8th.

GMA Network brings back the award-winning and high-rating drama anthology Magpakailanman to mesmerize the hearts of the Kapuso viewers once more. It will be hosted by multi-awarded broadcast journalist Ms. Mel Tiangco.

Magpakailanman, an original concept and creation of the GMA Entertainment TV Group, initially ran from 2002 to 2007 and has twice been awarded the Best Drama Series category at the Catholic Mass Media Awards. During its five-year run, the program, which was a consistent top-rater, inspired the lives of many Filipinos and promoted good family values to its viewers.

After 1 Year with TV5, Lorna Tolentino Returns to GMA-7

Veteran and grandslam actress Lorna Tolentino today signed an exclusive contract with media giant GMA Network and is set to star in an upcoming drama series with Dingdong Dantes and Kylie Padilla.

In a contract signing held this morning at the GMA Network Center, GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. and Entertainment TV OIC Lilybeth G. Rasonable formally welcomed Tolentino back to her home network. In an interview after the signing, Tolentino said she feels blessed to be back in GMA-7 and that she is thankful to the Network for always opening its doors to her. "I'm happy to be back. As always naman, kung sino yung magbibigay sa atin ng mas magandang offer o mas magandang show, as an actress, yun ang pipiliin natin. Pero I am happy kasi [GMA] is my home na rin, home naman nating lahat ito," says Tolentino.

Atty. Gozon, on the other hand, said that Tolentino is "very, very welcome" in GMA. "Si Lorna ay very very welcome sa atin dito sa GMA-7 sapagkat siya ay isa sa pinakamagagaling na artista na kilala natin. At nung maghiwalay naman tayo noong nakaraan ay naging maganda naman ang ating usapan," he said. "Lorna is not only a fine and versatile actress, she is also extremely talented and very professional. At tayo ay natutuwa na maski nawala siya sa atin for a while ay bumalik na siya," said Duavit.

Tolentino's last project in GMA before she left was the showbiz-oriented talk show "StarTalk," which is celebrating its 17th anniversary this month. She will guest in the show's anniversary special on October 20. She clarified, however, that she won't be back in the show as co-host, although she is open to hosting a non-showbiz talk show. Her original comeback project was the primetime series, "Haram," which the management of the network decided to shelve several weeks ago due to its highly sensitive topic. She and the rest of the cast of the series, however, will be starring in another family drama. Asked about the possibility of being paired with Dingdong Dantes in a sort of "May-December" love story, Tolentino has no hesitations about the idea except for its possible time slot. "Ok lang, kaya lang delikado ang konti ng tema, baka hindi pupuwede sa early na timeslot if it's going to be a May-December love story," she said.

Voting for the Top 3 ‘Makulay Ang Buhay Photo’ begins Monday

Beginning Monday (September 17), netizens may participate in selecting the three grand winners of GMA Network’s “Makulay Ang Buhay” photo submission promo.

To highlight the Network’s latest station ID -- “Makulay Ang Buhay” -- GMA launched the “Makulay Ang Buhay Promo,” a photo submission contest wherein participants submitted original photographs depicting the “colorful” moments in their lives.

This week, ten (10) finalists were chosen from more than a thousand submissions based on creativity, adherence to the theme and technical complexity. The entries which made it to the top 10 will be posted beginning Monday (September 17) via a web application on GMA’s Official Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/gmanetwork) and will be subjected to an online voting, which will run from September 17-21.

'Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay Na Kuwento' Pilots this Sunday

The sequel of the reality-sitcom "Pepito Manaloto" will air its pilot episode on Sunday night, September 16 on GMA-7.

"Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay na Kuwento" picks up from that point in the first season's story wherein the lead character Pepito (portrayed by Michael V) wins the jackpot in a lottery. After his luck changed his and his family's life from rags to riches, a television network executive approaches Pepito and comes up with the idea of retelling their story in a TV series. However, Pepito won't like the treatment of the TV show. He thinks that much of the story has been played up or exaggerated. He wanted a more realistic portrayal of his family's story. The TV executive will draw up an alternative proposal: the TV show will be redone but this time, it will be a reality show. The cameras will be documenting Pepito and his family's every day life.

The "reality show" treatment of the new season of Pepito Manaloto is what sets it apart from the previous one, which was basically more of a situation comedy (SitCom). As Michael V himself describes it, Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay na Kuwento is a "real-life documentary of a fictional family."

The show also stars Manilyn Reynes as Elsa Manaloto, Angel Satsumi as Clarissa Manaloto and Jake Vargas as Chito Manaloto.

Playing equally important roles are John Feir as Patrick, Ronnie Henares as Tommy, Mosang as Baby, Janna Dominguez as Maria, and Arthur Solinap as Robert. After making audiences cry during her stint in GMA's top-rating teledrama,Munting Heredera and Luna Blanca, Mona Louise Rey is back on primetime to portray the role of Fatima --a blind girl with a good heart, who is the daughter of a mortal man to a mythical creature called “manananggal.” Behind Fatima's persona is a prophecy that is said to end the life of all evil creatures on earth.

Joining Mona in her magical adventures is Anghel, a golden retriever who will guide her through her quests and battles to defeat the evil forces.

The Roman Catholic Church, the largest single religious body in the world with over 1.1 billion members just commemorated the death of one of its saints, St. Roch (better known in the Philippines and in Hispanic countries as San Roque), the patron saint of plagues, pestilence and AIDS.

In case you are not familiar with who San Roque is, he is the saint usually depicted in statue form in Catholic churches as the one with a walking stick on the left hand, while the other hand is pointing on to a wound on one of his knees with a dog sitting by his right side. This portrait of San Roque is usually mistaken as that of San Isidore the Laborer (San Isidro de Labrador) probably because of the term “Labrador,” which is also a term associated with a breed of canines.

Although historical accounts of his exact birth date and place, and details about his younger years are quite blurry, various sources have it that San Roque was born in the European city of Montpellier, which according to Wikipedia was at the time along the border of France.

When his parents died when he was twenty (his father was said to be a governor of Montpellier), San Roque relinquished all his properties to the poor, just like St. Francis of Assisi, and went on a pilgrimage to Rome. There he attended to those who were sick with various diseases at a time when Italy was badly hit by plagues.

Due to his constant contact with the plague victims, San Roque became ill himself. Fearing that he might spread his disease, he was driven out of the town and was forced to live in the forest. Isolated from the populace, San Roque would not have survived had it not for a dog who constantly brought him food and licked his wounds, eventually healing them.

He returned to his home city of Montpellier where he was arrested (he was accused of being a spy). Ironically, the orders came from his uncle who was then a governor of the city. It was said that his uncle did not recognize him and San Roque had failed to introduce himself to his uncle, which could have averted his imprisonment. San Roque died in prison on August 16, 1327.

Because of his life’s story, the Catholic Church named him patron of Dogs, Plague, Pestilence and AIDS.

Drawing inspiration from San Roque and his dog’s moving story, media giant GMA Network is set to launch a television fantasy-drama series this September with a powerful story that will surely touch the hearts of adults and children alike.

The series, entitled “Aso ni San Roque,” will be top-billed by LJ Reyes and TJ Trinidad, Mona Louise Rey and Eddie Garcia with guest appearance by new kapuso Rafael Rossel.
