I call myself a DIY musician for good reason!!! - I am in Australia visiting family and painting the house and we decided to do a house concert but I have none of my instruments with me! And so I borrowed a kick pedal and constructed a drum out of one of the paint tins!!! This is instead of a a cajon. I borrowed my nieces ukekele instead of a mandolin! (Had to learn how to play it!!) I borrowed my brother in laws acoustic guitar, and I borrowed an electric guitar instead of the resonator (dobro)!! Tomorrow is the concert!! I made a video!! See it on YouTube ‘karlscott, still small voice’ - filmed while creating i ages using a home made pin hole camera. My friend , @k.thleen_k created the whole session at her uni (Folkwang Universität Der Künste) in Essen, Germany on the 15th feb 2019. She opened the camera, I played a whole song, she closed the camera! The image is at the end of the video - and this is the song! So I have been home and cleaned up and it seems that most of the things taken were to do with recording. I dont really have anything of value apart from this stuff, so nothing has affected my day-to-day life thankfully. As a response to the lovely kind request to know what has gone I post a list of the things now:

Decided I needed a distraction! NOT MY CAR!! - and I am ok! I started a 3 day Freebirds27 mini tour - well we tried. Christoph was to drive me a first for me in 7 years but 30 mins down the road we veered skittle to the right where unluckily a huge truck was broken down on the hard shoulder. We kind of dragged along the side of it. Airbags go woosh and 4 hours later we are back where we started!!! Little bruise here and there but all fine. Hard to see fully but My little house was broken into. I started my tour almost a week ago, and I got a call yesterday from a friend who had gone to my house to work in the garden - I had been broken into! They forced open the kitchen window and took anything they thought might be valuable. Mostly it was recording stuff and my very old and broken MacBook Pro. I feel they must have known I was gone, which means I was targeted. I try to live differently and simply and and trying to go against a lot of what I feel the engine we call society dictates. This means I live in a little tiny garden house with no running water illegally, so I can’t tell the police. And also I live hand to mouth believing and living in a ‘gift economy’ -so I am hand to mouth and do not have insurance (also it is a scam!!) so I think times like this really test what you believe and the choices you make for your life! I know it is only stuff, it pains me to think of the work and years of saving that went into it. it is also difficult that so much of what I need to be a D.I.Y. Traveling singer songwriter has gone. However. I still have my instruments so I keep goi g on the tour giving myself, my songs to those that want to hear.
