people, no matter who they are, have a story. and the people whose stories are the most similar, bond together like links in red rover. it’s an unspoken: “i feel ya. i got your back.”

some bonds are so strong, a look can be exchanged that is only fully understood by those two people.

this is the best way to describe the invisible grip that happens when kellie and brad look at each other. it’s beautiful to watch. so i took every opportunity i could during my time with them to try and show you the glow the mere presence of the other creates in them.

when i was getting ready to post emilee + brandon’s engagement session on friday, i tried to find the words to explain the kind of love they had for one another. when sharing their link and photo on my facebook page, i decided to use the lyrics to a song by train.

fast-forward to yesterday about 6:05pm. with their closest friends and family sitting lakeside to watch them say their vows, a familiar song began to play for emilee’s walk toward her soon-to-be husband. i couldn’t believe it. the song was none other than the song i had chosen one day earlier…

“forever can never be long enough for me
to feel like i’ve had long enough with you
forget the world now, we won’t let them see
but there’s one thing left to do.”

until i can share more, here are a few of emilee + brandon’s unbelievable laid-back, lakeside, vintage, handmade wedding.

once upon a time, we were told to believe in fairy tales.

we were told that there is a perfect man out there waiting for us and we just had to believe.

and then life happened.

heart break happened.

because what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, we powered through.

and we became cynical and scared. and we stopped believing.

so we also stopped looking for him.

and then you met someone and the kid you are at heart starts jumping up and down inside your chest.

all of the sudden the lines in your life are drawn with bolder brushes and the colors are more vibrant.

and the man of your dreams appears with a guitar and starts to write your love song.

i met emilee and brandon, like i meet so many couples, right as they decided to take hold and go get their happily ever after. i’m in love with their love. i could not think of a better way to spend my first saturday in may, than to photograph their beautiful wedding. cannot wait for tomorrow!

in less than two weeks, emilee will marry the love of her life, brandon.

i get to be there. i get to be part of their amazing love story. here’s a few images that should explain how excited i am, better than any words can.

From the moment I met Emily and Andrew I knew they were special. We met over a cup of coffee. I got to hear about how they met in an accounting class and about getting their masters degrees. And as they sat there telling me their story they continued to look at one another and smile as they told it. I loved every minute of it. I waited on pins and needles to hear back from them. I wanted to not only capture their story – I wanted to be part of it. I wanted to witness this awesome chapter. I can’t wait to watch them say their vows and kiss at the alter and have their first dance. I. can’t. wait.

We planned to meet in Raleigh for their engagement shoot. I won’t lie, I did not Google the directions until after I agreed to drive there. So once I realized the distance, I asked my sister to come along to be my assistant for the day. I had just had a baby about 6 weeks prior to their shoot so to say I was sleep deprived was an understatement. So I thought it might be best to have a buddy for my road trip.

Off we went and it was the perfect day. It was warmer than I anticipated. There were more leaves lingering on the ground than I could have hoped for and Emily and Andrew weren’t afraid to get them involved.

I always say one of my favorites parts of meeting new couples is hearing their engagement story. Some are funny, some are traditional and some are awesomely creative. Well, Adam was the latter. It involved a baseball game, a ring and a puzzle. That’s all I’ll say. I got to see the personalized puzzle and it was so cool. Kudos, Adam… kudos!

Lauren, Adam and Tilley met me in the park in uptown Charlotte. It wasn’t quite as cold as it could have been for November. The leaves were amazing and everything came together perfectly. I kept saying, just one more spot and then we’ll be good to go. Then I would see another amazing spot and have another idea. Luckily, they were the best sports and gave in to my many requests for “just one more photo”. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding next summer! It’s going to be amazing. You can tell just from the moss letters Lauren created and brought for our shoot.

Just a stroll through NoDa by the Neighborhood Theatre, grabbing a beer at Dolce Vita and hangin out on the tracks. Ya know, your typical little Thursday – only better. Laid back, fun, a southern girl all the way. She would marry her best friend, the love of her life at the beach on September 22 of 2012 in Hilton Head. So where better to do her bridal portraits than barefoot by the water. We almost didn’t get to do these portraits because the weather was not our friend. And then one afternoon, after many texts we decided to bite the bullet and go for it. If we got rained out early that was ok, but at least we would try. Rain, it did. We (Jennifer, her mom, her sister and I) ended up having to run from the last spot on the beach to our cars as it began to pour down raining. BUT, look what we captured first…

Yesterday was spent hiking all over the park, up and down hills photographing this beautiful couple. More to come. Until then…
