Jolly & I went to high school together eight years ago and hadn’t seen one another or been in touch since, dear Suzy got in touch with me in dire need of a photographer and luckily I was available. Joelle’s mum said it was strange to hear people calling her again Jolly but it’s a hard habit to break, especially when someone epitomises their nickname so perfectly. I may have had a few tears rolling down the back of my camera during the ceremony, out high-school chaplain, Mr Keatch [I still can't get my head around calling him Jim] officiated & ended the ceremony with my favourite Irish blessing, it always gets me a little choked up.

Joelle & Braydon have been together for 8 years now and they’re just perfect together. They fit together like two puzzle pieces. I wish them all the happiness in the world.

I met Petra & Bryan in Presence almost a year ago. Since then they’re become a huge part of my life & I’m very glad to have them around. I feel blessed to have been able to share their day.

Joelle & Braydon were married at Hentley Farm in the Barossa Valley just before Christmas, it was beautiful & such a special wedding to be a part of.

I hadn’t seen Jolly since we finished highschool eight years ago and it was a privilege to be asked to be a part of the day. More to come soon!

A bit of soul searching, some adventure planning, finishing some long-running life things and beginning others and some epic behind the scenes work.

I’ve finally been blasting out some personal projects that have been welling up in me for a long while & I’ll be taking my first holiday in three years in March!

What would you do if money was no object?

I think I’ve finally come to a place where I would probably still do just what I do.

Anyone who has been around Joan can attest to the inspirational qualities of this amazing lady who has a bounty of stories to share, of WWII England where she grew up, theatre studies in England, of her travels as a cast member with the British War Office to far flung places and eventually a posting to Vietnam, the Asia Pacific tour of Snow White and the circumstances which lead to Joan performing in this role, later life in Singapore and there’s even a Frank Sinatra story in there somewhere!

Joan is still a dynamo, she teaches theatre in High Schools through Adelaide, speaks about her life and the Little People she worked with during Snow White, teaches English to refugees, rescues dogs from shelters (even though she said ‘No more dogs’, I’ll admit Silver is a darling though!) and finds time to catch up with (and help out) former pupils and friends.

I’m proud as punch to have created some work for the eminent Adelaide Magazine, Collect in their Homegrown Heroes issue (#10 in fact, double digits, they’re getting old!). I had a lovely morning shooting with Julia Robinson in her epic warehouse studio full of lovely arts folks and tasty-pastry treats, it felt quite like being back at art school! Julia’s work is incredibly textural & ginormous, something intriguing to get your brain around.

Emma Hack, ‘Wallpaper Red Bird’ 2008

It’s been a couple of weeks of chaos, travelling, house moving, minor surgery and getting old but finally I feel like I’m over the hill & can relax again. It doesn’t quite feel like I’ve had the calming down-time I had hoped for but I think I’ve come out the other end feeling better than before and it should keep steadily warming up over then next few months.

If you haven’t had a look yet check out the Creative Spaces site, it’s severely lacking in Adelaide at the moment but I’m hoping it’ll take off rather soon.

With all the awesomeness of the SALA Festival I feel like I’ve hardly seen anything yet. I’m looking forward to SALA on Sale on King William Road this weekend, Sunday 10-4, we’re also having a closing for my exhibition in Presence from 2-4 the same day. I am very much looking forward to catching Emma Hack’s exhibition at the AP Bond Gallery she’s also doing a live painting at SALA on Sale. You probably already know Emma’s work from the film clip of Gotye’s ridiculously catchy ‘Somebody that I used to Know‘.
