Tax Payer Funding of Horse Slaughter goes to Vote this Week!

On May 30^th, the House Appropriations Committee approved an amendment to the FY2012 Agriculture Appropriations bill that prevents your tax dollars from being used to fund inspections of horse slaughter facilities. This bipartisan language has been included in every Agriculture Appropriations bill since 2005. Without this important provision, foreign investors will be able to reestablish horse slaughter in the U.S. at the expense of taxpayers, our own food safety, and the welfare of horses.

The full House of Representatives will vote on the FY12 Agriculture Appropriations bill this Wednesday, June 15. An amendment may be offered to remove the Committee-approved language prohibiting the USDA from spending your tax dollars to inspect horse slaughter facilities. Maintaining the USDA language defunding inspections of horse slaughter facilities as currently included is vital to protecting our horses. It is critical that you call TODAY and urge your legislator to strongly OPPOSE ANY amendment to restore horse slaughter.

Please call your Representative immediately, urging opposition to any attempt to restore horse slaughter.

WFLF’s film label, Humanion Films goes public with the title for their documentary feature film SAVING AMERICA’S HORSES which is in part inspired by the successful documentary audio program produced under WFLF’s radio label, WFL Endangered Stream Live. The production began earlier this year and was previously known as FOR THE BENEFIT OF HORSES.

Production announced that this festival bound film follows the life stories of a few horses in a journey through time while taking a focused look into the business of horse slaughter. This movie seeks to advance compassion for horses, raise awareness for their suffering, and expose the corrupt driving forces behind the cruelty.

“Healthy vibrant horses are disappearing, never to be seen again. Find out where they are going, how they're getting there, what's really happening to them.

"...This feature film will help raise much needed awareness of the plight of the many American horses that face a brutal and inhumane end of life. The film’s most recent expert to join in as an advisory board member is Julie Caramante, an equine cruelty investigator. She was responsible for obtaining the FOIA documentation that brought to light the horrific cruelty of horse slaughter practices which had previously been completely hidden behind closed doors.

Production also announced the official launching of the film’s new website, blog and social network pages. An expert guest panel will spotlight the serious risk/health factors involved for elephants confined to zoos and circuses with a look at how how wild capture, poaching and habitat destruction is impacting the world's population of elephants. . There's lots of exciting news to report about Wild for Life Foundation!

We just launched our brand new page at Facebook. Visit Us! ..And we just launched our brand new group at LinkedIn! Join us!

Through our education and advocacy programs, we recently established the "Activist New Network", which will feature news on special events, campaigns and activists having to do with animals and nature.

We just launched our own internet social platform, the WFLF Network. We will be adding new features and enhancements over the next few weeks and months. Our new social network is a complete grassroots effort toward joining together animal and nature supporters under one umbrella. Having our own network allows us the freedom to campaign for our causes without the restrictions we face when using other social platforms. The WFLF Network is a social network for you to communicate, collaborate and have fun while supporting the causes closest to your hearts.

We recently added downloadable Banners to our members which are available at the WFLF official website and on our new page at Facebook.

Production was recently completed on two films for Lilyan Chauvin. Ms Louise Produced and Directed both films under the label Innovative Media Arts (IMA) Films. The the Premier of "Celebration of Life" an original feature documentary was screened by fans and supporters at the DGA during Lilyan Chauvin's Memorial on Aug. 16th, 2008. The the full length version including exclusive interviews and footage from the Day of Tribute has recently been released to DVD.

The film "Take" with Minnie Driver inwhich Katia played a supoorting role was recently released.

A theatrical student of Katia's booked a role on Criminal Minds.

Katia is currently working on two documentaries; one centers on the issues of animal welfare and the protection of wildlife, and the other centers on breast cancer.
