Chandni + Michael : Engagement

When she told me that Mike proposed, I was a complete puddle of mush. Not many are able to do that to me, but she certainly can. Chandni, the girl I’ve known since grade 10, the fun outgoing one, the one I always looked up too, and hoped that her coolness would somehow rub off on me (um, it didn’t). Yeap, THAT girl, is getting married to an amazing man, who is just as cool, fun, and outgoing as she is. And that makes me ridiculously happy. Well done, you two! Can’t wait to photograph your wedding in Vancouver next year. I will try my best not to bring albums of embarrassing photos from the past 15 years with me.

Huge kudos to Jena for helping out with the photoshoot. Thanks for capturing great moments that day.

Jena + Ashkan: Day After

As promised, here are more photos from Jena + Ash’s amazing destination wedding. Jena brought this adorable ‘trash-the-dress’ dress, which I actually felt bad ‘trashing’ but it was all worth it! Looking at these sure make me want to go back to sunny Mexico. Enjoy.

Jena + Ashkan: Wedding

When I close my eyes, I can still hear the ocean waves, see the pelicans fly overhead, and feel the warmth on my skin. Ahhh, Mexico… the perfect spot for a destination wedding, and that’s exactly where Jena and Ashkan chose to be married, at Grand Palladium Resort.

The day of the wedding opened up with a beautiful sunrise. I met up with Ash in the morning for his haircut, and that man was beaming! I can honestly say that I have never seen any guy being that happy, EVER! Ash opened the ring box, and talked about how his dad hand wove his wedding band; how he woke up at 4am and laid there grinning at the ceiling, thinking about the gorgeous girl he was about to marry. “Did you see Ashkan? How is he?” were the first words Jena said when I joined the girls later that morning. Her eyes sparkled with excitement. These two seriously melt me. They are ridiculously adorable together, and their personalized vows made me tear up, which, being a professional, I quickly blamed on the bright sunlight 0_o.

Their day was just perfect, filled with family and friends, laughter, good food, amazing music, hilarious speeches, and love, lots and lots of love. Jena and Ash, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your wedding day, and making me feel like part of the family. You’re just awesome!

Home…sweet home!

I love being home! That is all! Don’t get me wrong, I love to travel, see new places, enjoy the sun, skip the winter, but it feels like I haven’t been home in a while. I missed my oatmeal in the morning, endless cups of tea, my chair, laptop and most of all, my work! Shhhh I know… I’m a total nerd, but I truly love what I do, and when I can’t sit down and work for a while, I get all antsy and have withdrawals. Soooo, long story short, I’m home and super excited to get back into the swing of things, and start sharing all the projects from the past couple of months.

Not going to lie, I was very excited to find this tumbleweed in the middle of Arizona!

Salva + Vimal : Engagement

“A chance of rain” that’s what the forecast said a day prior to the photoshoot. Fine, I’ll take my chances…but did it ever rain! They wanted a winter wonderland with fluffy snow, we got +8 and rain. Vimal and Salva, the awesome couple that they are, came with a great attitude, gorgeous outfits, and geared up with an umbrella! What more can I ask for?!? LOVE THEM! These two are up for anything, and are hilarious together. They met in university and were friends for a while. But by the time Vimal gathered some courage to ask Salva on a date, she already knew all about his plans. She cut his wordy proposition short and said yes to a date. Everything else followed. They are getting married in July and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding. It will be fabulous!

WedLuxe Wedding Show

This past Sunday, the best of the best in the Canadian wedding industry came out to play at the first ever WedLuxe wedding show at the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto. It was an exquisite showcase of amazing decor, cakes, florals, stationary and everything that has to do with weddings. It was jaw dropping spectacular (and I’m very hard to impress) with pages of magazines coming to life on the displays. Nothing makes me more giddy than pretty designs and amazing workmanship. The trends for this season seem to be Louis Ghost chairs (clear acrylic), light and airy chiffon linens, pink and fuchsia florals, combinations of elegant white and cream decor, whimsical cakes, colour matched macarons, and very personalized stationary. If you missed this event, don’t fret, The Wedding Co. is holding their high-end wedding show in Carlu next weekend, with many of the same vendors in attendance. Here are some iPhone photos to get you planning, or wishing for a larger bank account.

Butter Avenue – New Store!

There is no better way to end off the year and ring in the new one than with the grand opening of the much anticipated Butter Avenue pâtisserie & café. I’m sure that by now you all know how much I LOVE macarons. They are bite sized little pieces of heaven. The lovely people at Butter Avenue have got it down to perfection, and I’m not just saying that because the owners are good friends of mine. Tina along with her brother Calvin have opened up a this little pastry shop by Yonge and Lawrence area (3467 Yonge St. Toronto ON. M4N 2N3). I had the pleasure to attend their grand opening where macarons were flying off the shelves, especially sea salt caramel ones. Drop by if you are in the area or if you’re looking for a different, yet classy dessert to bring to a dinner party. Oh, and they also would make perfect ‘guest favours’ for a wedding. Just saying… In the meantime, here are some photos I took of the new café and their glorious desserts.

I’m not sure how Christmas always sneaks up on me each year, but it does! It’s here, and I even have a tree. Taaa- daaa!
