Helping Authors Achieve Their Publishing Dreams

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 01 Apr 2026 04:23:00 +0000

Crafting a complete and compelling story is hard work. It's late night fights with uncooperative characters, bouts of crippling impostor syndrome, and the taunting blink of the cursor on the empty page as you struggle to pry those unwilling words from the deepest recesses of your mind.

Do not despair, dear author. Help is here.

Combat Con 2022 is Coming to Las Vegas. Are You Ready?

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sun, 19 Jun 2022 13:39:00 +0000

If you've never heard of CombatCon before, you've been missing out. If you've heard about it, but thought it was just some LARPing convention, you've been misinformed.

CombatCon is a celebration of Combat, Western Martial Arts, and various other methods and disciplines of fighting and their real-world applications.

Writer, Fighter, Stunt Actor, Filmmaker, Weapon Enthusiast, Fan of various time periods in history, etc... there is something for everyone.

During the convention weekend (July 21-24 2022), held at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, attendees will have the opportunity to try out a variety of fighting styles taught by masters of the craft. There is over 200 Hours of classes you can take throughout the event. You'll feel like a kid in a candy store with the seemingly endless classes to try out.

Having the ability to experiment with different fighting styles and weapons all weekend long. Um, yes please!

Long sword Yoga anyone? How about knife throwing? Maybe a little Tai Chi after lunch? Disarming? Bull Whip? Tomahawk? Light saber League? How about reenacting the scene from office space and taking out all that stress and aggression on some office equipment... with a battle axe!

Never picked up a weapon or taken a self-defense class before?

You're not alone. That's the beauty of this convention, they have classes for all skill levels. You have the opportunity to try different styles and disciplines out to see what works for you. And on top of that, you'll be learning real skills that could help you defend yourself if it ever came down to that.

And best of all, it is in Las Vegas. You can learn how to fight during the day and still have evenings free to go out and paint the town red! No compromises necessary.

Not really into fighting but you love to watch people swing swords at each other?

The HEMA and TSL tournaments go on all weekend. There will be plenty to see.

But I'm a writer, not a fighter. What can Combat Con do for me?

Glad you asked. We have a specially tailored intensive program aimed at writers. Learn the craft, work with martial arts masters to understand the mechanics of a fight, and see your scene take shape as it is acted out right before your eyes. We call that our Writing for Fighting Intensive.

What about actors? Isn't there a difference between real fighting and stage fighting?

Combat Con has you covered there too. We have a program just for the actors out there who want to improve their physical performance and learn special skills to really make their scenes pop.

Filmmakers, we didn't forget about you.

Learn the skills you need to get the best shots when filming those action scenes with our Filmmaking Intensive.

Okay, but can I really learn certifiable skills at this convention?

Yep! Our McLemore Intensive will put you through the paces with tomahawk, bowie knife, and tactical knife and teach you close quarters combat skills to earn the first level of certification. We've even got an extension Master Class available for those who want to take it to the next level.

How about I show you a little taste of some classes Combat Con has on offer for 2022. (This is only a partial list)

Is your interest piqued yet? What are you waiting for?

Get over to the Combat Con website and Register!!

Chapter 7 of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT (Reactions to the Finale

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 15 Feb 2022 10:35:00 +0000

#bookofbobafett #starwars #mandalorian

Bryan & Katie Salidas break down THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT's seventh chapter. Boba Fett finally makes another appearance in the show's final chapter, and so do other fan-favorite characters! How does the finale stack up against previous entries? Was anybody else disappointed that we have so much of our lives to this series only to have it end...like this?

Chapter 6 of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT (Reaction and Analysis)

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Tue, 08 Feb 2022 10:38:00 +0000

#bookofbobafett #starwars #mandalorian

Bryan & Katie break down THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT's sixth chapter. Boba Fett is still missing in action, and everyone's favorite CGI nightmare, Luke Skywalker is back to take Grogu to Jedi School. One guilt trip later, and we are wondering: what does ANY of this have to do with Boba Fett? I guess we will see next week in the finale. Until then, let's take wild and hopeful guesses at how Filoni and Favreau will tie this thing up.

Reacting to Chapter 5 of THE BOOK OF...THE MANDALORIAN?!?

#bookofbobafett #starwars #mandalorian

Bryan & Katie break down THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT's fifth chapter...or is it the seventeenth chapter of THE MANDALORIAN? Mando visits the Armorer, where there is no Boba Fett. Mando cuts open his leg to see if Boba Fett is hiding there. He's not! Boba couldn't even be bothered to show up for his own show? What's up with that? Let's speculate!

Just when newly minted ASSET agent Sage Cynwrig thought she was getting the hang of this whole magic thing, a smooth-talking Djinn named Luke moves in next door. And he's got more on his mind than making her wishes come true.

He'll have to take a number. Between her sharp-tongued, machete wielding partner, Grey, and Zack the flirtatious vampire-for-hire, Sage has enough magical men making her life hell.

And then there's the new job. It's all hands on deck at ASSET. Magical creatures are disappearing from the Las Vegas Strip. Rumor has it, the missing creatures are ingredients in a forbidden magical recipe. Someone's attempting to recreate the lost Amulet of Emmuri, and gain power to rival the gods.

Because of course Sage's first official assignment as an agent would require her to, you know, save the world!

To accomplish that, however, she'll have to cross enemy lines and break the very magical laws she just swore to uphold.
