brakes done and very happy no more leaver travel

as i have said in other post's the brakes on my 12r have been poor to say the least.

problem's have been mainly excessive lever travel 50mm at first and poor feel:thumbdown:

so i sold the 6pot's and fitted 4pot's which improved the leaver 35mm travel but still no real feel.

then i fitted a brembo mc off an RSVR aprilia which improved the lever 25mm and a bit more feel.

ive now fitted the nissin 6 pot's and new discs FANTASTIC

i cant believe the difference the lever is perfect (instant and no travel) and the feel is as i hoped to achieve with these calipers brilliant:clap:

i think the OE discs are the main reason for the lever travel as they must have dished a little as they were true and had a thickness4.7mm so can't think of any other reason other than they were causing a springing action as the brakes were applied.

hi guys, anyone know how to disable the odometer?. wife says she will leave if i carry on riding the 12 all the time. used to be able to pop out and just disconnect cable on my blade, she aint daft and knows how to turn ignition on. might seem like shes a right bitch, but i agreed not to ride much after last big off(old sod in a camper pulled out) but cant leave my 12 parked up all week. can i just pull a fuse?. ta:rant:

Now, did anyone ever decide if the ZX14 mirrors will bolt on? Looks like the pigspotters are listed to cover both models, so it would seem the mirrors should as well.

Next.....

Anyone know what brand hugger this is on my 00? Got it in trade and no idea...

It is heavy fiberglass and fits perfect... I can't seem to find a pic of a Targa brand...

Plan to put the Helibars and some braided lines on the front, a Corbin seat, and upgrade the suspension once I sell the Bandit.

Intermittent Engine Noises.

Need some help here..This one has me baffled..Bike runs strong no mechanical issues. The thing is when ever i hit bumps or manhole covers i hear an intermittent rapping sound kinda like stickin your finger in a fan briefley. Bigger the bumps in the road the louder it is..Other than that no noises when shifting and steady cruising or hard accelleration..Tried pullin in the clutch when i hit the bumps and its still there. It almost sounded like the drive chain when u have a worn sprocket and the chain gets overstretched or tight spots.chain and sprockets are good..The sound is coming directly under the seat it seems. the sound closeley resembles pullin the trigger on a air hammer or chisel briefly............

can you guys let me know where your taping into for the Tach and the TPS,, are you doing in the rear of the bike on the wires coming out of the ECU OR right at the units themselves? the power and ground are not a problem just thought i would ask,, Hey Pudsky you hooked up yet? this weekend is gonna be nice so the subframe and Wego Harness are going on and i should be able to log! still waiting for the Pilot Jet in the mail..

i wana put a big bore/block kit on my 12 (2000). but i still want driveability. i do have a powercommander that will be dyno tuned after. what kit would you guys recomend? and what other upgrades to go with it?

Does all ZX12R front wheel shake while going down the road without hands on both handle bars? Mine has been doing this since I got it, took it in to the dealer where I bought it and they said that's normal and for me to get Steering Damper to eliminate that....how true is this? :puzzled:

How often should I have my front forks serviced or what else do I need to service on ZX12R front end aside from front brakes & tire?

I ordered a set of reproduction oem decals for my 1983 KZ750-L3 from RD Decals in Canada. They were the only place I found them. Actually, they showed them on their site, but they weren't a shelf item and they're having to produce them for me because "we've had very little call for that model." But... I hope to get them in about a week.

Ron had me order him a set of 1982 GPz decals to use on the 750 custom he's doing. They were in the Sale Items at $18 off, and I used a coupon code and got $11 more off!

They have some Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki models. If you didn't already know about them, check 'em out. Could be a lifesaver for your restoration as they are for mine. Just wanted to pass along a little known source.
