We will be having a Mother’s Day brunch full of amazing, home made food that we are confident everyone will enjoy.  Following, Pastor Ben will say a few words and lead the men in taking a few minutes to pray for and bless the women in the church.

This is sure to be a fun and encouraging time for everyone, so don’t miss it!

We will have more than enough food for everyone, so bring a friend and enjoy yourselves this Mothers Day.

This year our way of doing that is through a church-wide fast. You may fast whatever you like, the important thing is to deny your “flesh” something that it wants as an act of worship, self- discipline, and faith as you inquire of God concerning this coming year.

Specifically, I would like us to focus as a faith family on being transformed by the holy love of God so completely that we refuse to withhold it from others any longer. This, I believe, is the journey we are embarking on together as a church.

So let’s take this week, January 2 – 8 and press in closer to Jesus asking Him to define us.  That we might know who we are not because we have searched our hearts and found the answers, or because the world has constrained us.  But rather that we would be defined by the love of our great God poured out on us through Jesus.

We will be having a Christmas Eve service that will be a family friendly, intimate, and worshipful time together to celebrate the birth Jesus – God come among us to rescue us. The service will be short: less than one hour and will be traditional with a creative flair.

If you are in town this year for Christmas Eve, stop by at 6pm. Following the service the Elswick family has opened their home for a laid back time to eat good treats and hang out. Everyone, including children, are invited!

If your schedule will not allow you to be in a small group, try joining one of our discipleship groups instead.  They typically meet on a different schedule.

Getting Started

We use an online group management tool called MemberHub.  One of the things we use MemberHub for is joining a small group.

Below you will find a current list of all the small groups we offer. Click on the group(s) you are interested in and it will take you to the memberhub page for that group.  In the process, you will be asked to create a free account on our MemberHub site.  The leader of that group will then contact you with meeting time/location details.

But the story doesn’t end there!  Jesus rose again, conquering our enemies of Satan, sin, and hell.  He gave us His life, His righteous place in the family of God.

He brought us into the story. Whether Rebel or Redeemed, each one of us is living in this story of redemption.  Jesus has written us into the plot.

On Easter 2011, we will be sharing our stories.  We will have testimonies, testimonies, and more testimonies.  We will worship our King Jesus for who He is and what He has done.  We will celebrate His miraculous resurrection and the redemption that it wrought.

Join us on Sunday, April 24 2011 to enter the story and celebrate the hope that we have in Christ.

We want to build KCC in such a way that everyone is able to easily find a connection to the community.  We want to make it simple and easy for you to get involved, meet people, and get the information that you need to stay that way.

That is what MemberHub is all about.

MemberHub is not a Christian Facebook.  It’s not Twitter for Jesus.  There are no status updates, friend lists, follower counts, etc.  MemberHub is a group communication tool.  As a member of a hub you will benefit from having a single place where you can connect with other members of your church groups (hubs) in a private and secure online environment.

Benefits to You

• Easy, opt-in email. If you are a member of a hub, you will be able to receive emails concerning that hub.  This will allow KCC to only email you if it pertains to a hub you are a member of.  No more email blasts from the church about things that you are not interested in!
• Combined Calendar. If you are a member of multiple groups, you are going to love this feature!  Your personal calendar in MemberHub will pull in all of the events from all of the groups you are associated with into one calendar.  This means that all of your serving schedules and group events across the entire church will show on one calendar, in one convenient place.  If you already use a calendaring program, you can import your MemberHub calendar in WebCAL format easily.
• Text Messaging. If you include your mobile number in your profile, the Admin of your hubs will be able to send text messages with short announcements and important updates, just like the emails.  This means that you can stay in the loop, even with last minute updates and schedule changes.  (If you do not want this feature, you can easily turn it off.)
• Discussion Boards. Your hub can carry on discussions online that are private and secure.  This is a great way to keep the relationships going between small group meetings and Sunday services as well as a great forum for asking questions about your ministry and sharing ideas with your fellow group members.
• Photo Gallery.  Have pictures from a recent group activity that you’d like to share?  You can do that privately in your hub.  You can also post pictures of yourself and your family in your profile so that people can put a face to the name.  A great way for guests and new members to get acquainted!
• Member Directory. Right now, our church directory gets updated about once a year.  It’s also expensive to print all those hard copies.  Not to mention all the work that goes into getting updated contact info from everyone.  Now it’s all in MemberHub and easily printable for those that still like to keep a hard copy stuck to their fridge.
• Newcomers Connected. Now it will be easy for a newcomer to get a look at what’s happening in KCC and how to get involved.  Want to join a small group?  Click a button and you are immediately in touch.  Want to get in on the next KCC 101 class?  It’s a click away.
• Ministry Opportunities. Instead of waiting to be asked, or going through the church office, now you can get connected to every ministry in the church directly.  No more bottlenecks!

Getting Started

If you want to know more before taking a test drive, visit this Getting Started User Guide.  There is a walkthrough video and detailed instructions if you need them.  One of the reasons we chose MemberHub is it’s simplicity and intuitive interface.  We don’t think you will have any trouble, but if you do there is plenty of help to be had.

If you’re ready to jump in, here’s how:

1. Create a MemberHub account and become a member of the “Everyone” hub.  Click here to do that. (If this is your first time logging in, you will need to enter your email address, leave the password field blank, and check the “I need a MemberHub account” button.)
2. Once you are in, make sure that you are a member of the “Everyone” hub by looking for it under the Hub Listing in your Dashboard. (Here is a screenshot if you’re lost).  If you are not a member of that hub yet, do that here.
3. Check your profile and make sure that the mailing address, phone, email, and mobile numbers are correct.  Make sure that you have enabled text messaging, unless you don’t want to make use of that feature.
4. That’s it!  Feel free to explore and join any other hubs that represent groups you are currently in, or would like to be.

We remember. We remember we belong to God, our Father in heaven. We remember that He cares. We remember Jesus, who died to cast off our guilt, our shame, and the weight we have carried of running our own lives. We remember that since He cut Himself, we donʼt have to. We remember that His death has given us the ability to hope again. Belonging to God means we are going to be ok. It means safety, it means promise, it means security, it means family. Life may bruise us, but we live on through Christ, our debt-payer, our soul-restorer. We remember that He has given us the ability to choose – today, tomorrow, every day – to believe Him or to ignore Him. But when we think of His kindness, how can we ignore Him?

And so the hesitancy in the air starts to dissipate. We lift our eyes and our voices up, up, up and off of ourselves and onto our Savior. We pour out our songs. They are full of grief, full of thanks, full of brokenness, full of joy and hope, full of reverence, full of need. We donʼt hold back, because we remember that we can be real with Him.

The music is the backdrop for our conversation with God. We hurt, but we desire Him. We have questions, but we need Him. So we pour it all out to Him. He loves it. He answers with gentleness and with strength.

And we remember… Worship is for the needy, the broken, the forgiven sons and daughters to their Maker and Sustainer. We have seen Him. And He loves us. How can we not sing to Him?

We don’t have an agenda for Overflow, except that we’re all coming with faith, expecting God to meet with us and empower us to be His people on the earth.

So what can you expect if you’ve never been to an Overflow? You can expect loud, rocking and passionate worship led by the KCC worship team, singing alongside other Jesus followers from around the Triad.  You can also expect some kind of prayer time during the service.  Beyond that, we’ll trust God to lead us.  We don’t list an end time because we never know how long the Overflow will last.

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. 7:30pm until – at the KCC building.

This year’s conference is shaping up to be a great one. The theme is simple: “Expand: not living safe”. This is not a time to pull back, hedge our bets to wait for a better day to come. We need to expand, take faith risks, in our churches, in our individual ministries and in our families.

We are encouraging everyone to consider attending this year. You will not regret it. If you have never attended the annual conference, make this your year! Make this a time to get away with friends and recharge.

The Bible is full of people that had doubts.  What made them heroes of the faith is what they did with their doubts.  We’ve been studying the book of Luke for some time now.  One of the unique things about Luke’s gospel is that it was written to convince skeptics and answer their doubts about Jesus.

Everyone has questions. Questions about the Bible, the nature and character of God, why things in this life are sometimes so hard and questions about what God says about how to live our lives.  We have questions about how the Bible applies to the nitty gritty of life.

The questions are all in, but the fun is just beginning!  Be sure to come on Sunday as well as listen online or get the podcast to stay up to date.
