When Sam Fuller, the Bassist for Venomous Rose hit me up with their new debut "The Devil is a Friend of Mine", my first thought was "Running With the Devil" by Van Halen and my pre-destined thought were correct. These guys bring Hair Metal back and they do it perfectly with this debut.

If you thought Hair/Glamour Metal was dead then think again. The lyrics to this song just take me back to my first concert my old man took me to when I was twelve, Ozzfest. The word flow is pristine. An amazing mixture of strong and simple words. They easily get their message across to the listener. What I pulled from these lyrics; Everyone has the devil to deal with in their lives in some shape or form so might as well embrace it, make friends with him/her, and roll n' roll with it. Take it to the max. Let your devil side come out and party on Garth.

Between the sick guitar solos, epic notes from the vocals, heavy and earthy bass, and the drums keeping the pulse, all I can do is see myself in a mosh pit throughout this whole song. I hope someday to see these guys live and make that happen. They are definitely a Year 2021 Twisted Sister. They brought sexy back from the 80's! The Lyric Video you can play below is a "South Park" style, a simple but creative future masterpiece in its works. The Devil is the cutest evil thing I've seen since binge-watching asshole cats attack owners just for petting them. Either way, I want to cuddle with both.

But then he states he is a little bit of everything including rap-core. By God he wasn't kidding. My description of Mad Maxs style would have to be this: Hollywood Undead had a baby with Bowling For Soup but was raised by the two uncles who refuse to come out of the closet but the whole family knows and doesn't care, but go by the names Tenacious D and Body Count. It may sound like a turn off to some but I'm telling you I LOVE IT! Check out Letz Get Crunk and tell me wrong.

Now, Mad Maxs stage name, Emerald Aquarium released a new single February 5, 2021 by the name Significance. This acoustic, soft but hurried melody had me from the beginning. I immediately felt like I was on some epic quest trying to find an artifact of some sort. After listening over and over this feeling never went away. My personal opinion, it was just that. A quest to find myself again. It tells a beautiful story of confusion, loneliness, jealousy, and misunderstanding of one's self. I know every song means something else to everybody but I'm positive we all can get close. It has straight to the point lyrics, but still leaves you questioning yourself. With light taps and fast strums this song can find a place in everybody's hearts and leave you trying to work yourself through a situation like this: Am I having regrets because I left her? Did she leave me and I'm jealous of her 1relationship now? Am I only missing the feeling of having somebody, a partner, someone to be there? If I am over this than what truly is the significance of these feelings?

The meat is seared, slow cooked and mop basted with sauce until the meat is tender and a nice crust has formed on the outside. Roll up your sleeves and get ready for sauce that you enjoy getting under your fingernails.

Kansas Citys first recorded barbequer was Henry Perry back in 1908. Perry become very well known for his succulent ribs and would serve them to customer who would come from miles away. Perry converted an old trolley barn into a restaurant and would serve is ribs on newspaper for 25 cents a slab. Old Man Perrys restaurant was located at 19th & Highland and was later sold to George Gates and Charlie Bryant. It become known as Arthur Bryants and is still today regarded as one of Americas greatest rib joints. Today Kansas City boast over 90 rib restaurants.

As with any rib, first start by removing the membrane on the back of the rib. This can prove to be difficult with wet finger. Dry hands and a paper towel work well for this. The paper towel will allow you to get a better grip on the membrane. Evenly coat the ribs with the dry rub, wrap with plastic wrap and then foil. Refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours but overnight is best. 30 minutes before you are ready to cook the ribs, remove them from the refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature. Continually mop the ribs with sauce until finished cooking.

Create video content rather it is short promotion videos, stories, "about us", etc. Put it up on your social media. Get other pages to post it. Ask bloggers, bloggers, and podcasts to view it. Forward me some content and we can work something out.

8. Pitch to radio stations

Send out your EPK to various radio stations, see if they'll spot you. Maybe get yourself an interview. Everybody likes the badass indie and underground bands. It doesn't have to be the most popular rock station in the city. Send it to the intern of the local colleges. The online radio streamers. Everybody's got followers and if you hear their voice on some kind of radio, you know they're passionate.

9. Work as a Team

All the band members need to get together to and assign roles. If you can hire out to achieve all this, then by all means do it. Most bands starting out cannot though. With all the work split up, the easier it will be.

10. Live Gigs

The most obvious. Live Gigs. Go on tour. Tour swap with other bands in other states and countries if you can. The further out you go, the better. Get out there and do what your passion is craving.

I know this is all easier to type and read than it is to actually do it but no one succeeded by sitting on their ass. (I guess I technically am. LOL) I am just starting out as well but I would love to get some bands, studio owners, venue managers, etc in for some interviews, merchandise promotion, and reviews. Like us on social media. Everyone gets mad.

Everyone gets upset.

Everyone has stressful, almost intolerable days...…

Everyone needs to just say F*** IT every once in a while.

But if you don't have time to have a "F*** IT!" day, then here are three songs I turn up to max volume. Preferably, through your headphones, in the car ride home, over the office's intercom system. I hope at least one of these three songs can help you get through the bullshit.....At least for the moment.

#1 Gasoline by I Prevail, Album: Trauma

In 2013, I Prevailed had been on my top favorite metal bands from New Baltimore, Michigan, since the first time I heard them. They became well known over the fantastic Taylor Swift cover of Blank Space. They have a variety of sounds in their songs, including pop-punk, post-hardcore, and emo-hardcore. This song can be viewed on my channel with a deep short story starring YouTuber Daz Black. It shows how abusive parents, bullying, and paranoia can affect your short and long-term life. In my opinion, it fits perfectly for the album, Trauma. It's definitely one of my personal favorites when I'm in a "F**** IT!" mood. #2 Everybody But Me by Tech N9ne Featuring Krizz Kaliko and Bizzy, Album: The Storm

Of course, not only an amazing "F*** IT!" song, but a hometown hero and star. Straight out of KCMO with Strange music, going by the stage name Tech N9ne, Aaron Yates spits it out with another Krizz Kaliko and Bizzy. Tech N9ne made a name for himself worldwide and has the fans and talent to prove his spot in history. Did I say prove it? My mistake. He doesn't have to prove anything after Elton John has gifted him his Flowers and dubbed him worldwide as one of "The Greatest." These hip hop/rap artists released Embody, But Me in 2016, and it peaked on Billboards top charts at number thirty-two (32). This song personally has come into play for me during work, after a hard day, at a party, many different occasions. Still, it is respectfully on my number two out of three on my "F*** IT!" days. #3 Ruffneck by Skrillex, Album: Single Release: More Monsters and Sprites

Coming from an emo-hardcore band I grew up with as a teen, From First to Last, Sonny Moore drops the bass over and over with killer Dubstep / EDM / Hip-hop mixes. As an American DJ, songwriter, producer, etc., Skrillex has helped me get through my bullshit time after time with this Christmas Themed music video time and time again. It had a London unofficial release in 2012 and has been in my heart since. There's a damn good reason Skrillex has been nominated for five Grammy Awards. Classical Melodies Put Into Heavy Metal Music.

There has always been this invisible, thick, black line between the two genres/sub-genres of Heavy Metal and Classical Music. I'm not sure about the rest of the U.S.A. but here in Kansas City, the collision of icons, underground music, and the next big break are a pissing distance away. Historically and today, Kansas City, Missouri has been known for raising and cataloging all music genres from all parts of this earth. So don’t sound surprised when I say there are more of us that have Beethovens No.3 and Bullet For My Valentine on the same leisure playlist.

Let’s start off with the definitions of each. Ya, I don’t know either. But here we go.

Classical Music: As in the case of the Renaissance, difficulties with terminology again arise with the label classical. Does it refer to a period of time, a distinctive musical style, an aesthetic attitude, an ideal standard, or an established norm?

In other words, is it referring to time, music, or love?! I’m going on all three. Why not? Beautifully expressed melodic tunes made to represent the feelings of heartbreak or love flutter were being composed in the Baroque era. Classical in this broad sense is still being used today in new screenplays and in metal music itself.

Now where the classical fans scream, “Extreme!” and the metal fans scream louder “Our Fathers Evil Church!” Turns out their both right.

Metal Music: a genre of rock music that includes a group of related styles that are intense, virtuosic, and powerful. Driven by the aggressive sounds of the distorted electric guitar, heavy metal is arguably the most commercially successful genre of rock music.

Heavy metal starting back in the 70s is known and the viscous, devil music, powerful, loud, but what everyone mistook is the technical skills needed to compose these perfectly melodic clashes.

Metal

No matter the argument of true definitions, we will all never agree upon one so let’s move on. Yo, you are a maniac thinking these are the same…….Wrong. The technical difficulty alone between a forte-piano and a perfect lead guitar rift in today’s metal we referenced earlier in almost exactly the same. Somebody had to dedicate not just childhood, but a powerful understanding of something we only view as a theory to this day. Music Theory. Let e know when you understand it because all the music majors have proven is jazz, metal, and EDM are not only the missing link to this planet but that they are really good at memorizing textbooks also. Both metal and classical were the devil, voracious, rebellious, and offensive. Paganini himself could not receive a proper burial from the church because his epic violinist skills were compared the Satan himself and only he could play so well. Fran Liszt has the first recorded mosh pit in a laughing sense. Not only a colorful, artistic era but booming with sound and romance and here comes this sexy composer comparable to Beethoven to put a crowd into a full-on frenzy. Note the title and disorder, Lisztomania. Rock on with your gregorian chant…..Rock on

Classical

Classical music, however, defined is the acidic base of the art of putting thought into sound. From a perfect vaulted ceiling bellowing a gregorian chant in latin to an orchestra explaining someones happiness and hardships through twelve minutes of glorious, robust melody. Classical in my opinion was the first punk rock. Love, hate, disregard, education, pain, true happiness. I cant get through the Moon Light Sonata without tearing up. I believe classical will still outlive and be the foundation for the basis of comprehensible and emotional sound for the rest of human existence. Classical music however was able to go outside its “genre” in a sense of speaking. As metal cannot go too much of a twist and throw some 50s swing into the middle of thrashing about drugs or a heartbreak, classical was able to hit all emotions and everyday activities to defining wars. It had a versatility that can never be matched.

The two most difficult genres to play to a live crowd and must play to perfection have some similarities along with the differences. We can move onto what we all can agree upon and my our own personal opinions.

Now, most of this is just my opinion so do not go yelling at a professor that I am right or wrong (or do it, fuck it) and take the most random blog page to randomly appear one day as gospel. One fact I did find was this though: Jazz fans are creative and extrovert with high self-esteem, researchers said. Fans of country music are, on the other hand, introverted but hard working. Rap fans are outgoing and occasionally rough, and soul lovers are creative, outgoing, gentle, confident and at ease with themselves. In other words, they sound like good lovers. Im not sure about the study, references, nor do i remember where i read it but there ya go. Metalheads suck at life with laziness and depression, r&b/hip hop fans know how to bang, country fans know how to work, jazz fans are actually conceded, bur classical fans actually only make more money. Go be miserable with your money I guess? Everybody stay sfe with this COVID and bless whomever you need blessed by. You cant have peace without violence but damnit we can try.

Half-time Show

The Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV for the second year in a year. Last year, the Red Kingdom defeated the 49ers and took the championship on the 50th year anniversary since a Super Bowl Title.

This years halftime show will be headlines by The Weeknd. A Canadian born artist favored heavily in the R&B style has quite the history and will make for an exceptional halftime presentation. With multiple grammys and awards, I cannot wait to this show.

The Weeknd

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye was born in Feb. 1990 and started his career uploading music on YouTube in 2010. Fast forward to today and The Weeknd has won three Grammys, five American Music Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Music Video Awards, nine Juno Awards, and one nomination for an Academy award. The Weeknd cites his influences as being Michael Jackson, Prince, and R. Kelly while having a strong similarity to Bruno Mars.

The Weeknds' "Blinding Lights" took the spot for most streamed of all time, and most popular in 2020 with 1.6 billion streams and downloads. Other popular songs would be "Cant Feel My Face" and " Star Boy". The Weeknd came in #4 as the most streamed artist of 2020, following closely behind the #1 Bad Bunny. With 59 songs, he has hit on a global scale, two No.1 hits, including "The Hills", and twenty one TOP 10 HITS and is sitting at a peak on Billboards at #2.

The halftime show became a huge, top performing artist show in 1993 after Michael Jackson performed along with Kriss Kross and Charlie Daniels. Ever since the NFL has brought some of the biggest names in entertainment to the stage such as Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, and last years Beyoncé

. Every year the halftime show is viewed more and more and never fails to entertain. The last 10 years have been truly amazing.

CBS will televise Super Bowl LV between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on February 7, 2021, from Tampa. The game broadcast will start at 6:30 PM E.T. It was originally supposed to be NBC but was switched so they could broadcast the 2022 championship and 2022 winter Olympics.
