I wish American fashion glossies would put MODELS back on the cover of their magazines. Europeans still do, and that's why I love them so much better. Models belong on the cover of magazine. Actors belong on television, stage, or movies. Models should model. Actors should act. Okay?

The Art Of Cinema

I love a good, brainless popcorn movie just as much as the masses. But, I also deeply appreciate a movie that is made not only to entertain, but also to elevate. When a movie becomes a work of art, instead of just a mindless medium for escapism I rejoice, and thank the heavens. One of those rare movies is Terrance Malick's new film "The Tree of Life."

The movie, like all Malick films is visually arresting. His love and admiration for nature, and the way he captures the world both on a micro and macro level is awe inspiring. The images alone are a work of art--but like all great art, it provokes and makes us think. This time he takes it to the next level and explores the CREATION of the universe. Then he takes it a step further and moves the film to the meaning of life, god, and our existence. The division of the film is fluctuates between cruelty and love--both in the natural world, and in human experiences.

The universe was created was extreme violence, but out of that violence emerged extreme beauty and life. Humans are often cruel to each other, but love and grace is always there to balance our existence. If there is a god--cruel of loving, it is in the end what we as humans create. We are all children of the universe and of nature; and inside each and every one of us lives the atoms of the stars, sun, and moon.

I wish, wish, wish Lindsay Lohan would get her hot mess of a life together. The artist Richard Phillips recently shot her for his very short video to show at the 54th Venice Biennale. The video proves many things about Lindsay and why she's a star: she's fucking gorgeous AND she can act.

Her personal life has basically ruined her career, but I really hope she finds her way, because Hollywood is a very, very forgiving place-- and if her talent is wasted it would really be a shame.

State Of Mind (Rich Or Poor)

How do we measure the "value" of our lives. Or more specifically how are we TAUGHT to value our life? In our culture today, in the 21st century, we measure "success" through money, class, youth, and, status. Really nothing much has changed in like 2,000 years. I guess it's human nature to think that a successful life includes loads of money, a wrinkle free face, and high social standing. I have a problem with all three of those things. I say fuck those things.

I don't have a lot of money, and I have no "status" in the corporate, class obsessed world--although what I do have is a wrinkle free face and the appearance of youth (maybe I'm immortal? No, it's just good genetics.) Looking at my life on a monetary level I don't have much money, but I realize that to measure a life through your money or job is really not the point. Yes, we need money for the basic necessities of life: food and shelter, but beyond that....

Instead of asking someone what they do for a living, how many times do we ask them, where they are SPIRITUALLY. How do you measure a human life? In the end it's not through money; it's through your soul, and how well you treat yourself and others. Yes, this is coming from a person with no money and no status, but that's the beauty of it. I've come to this understanding--this realization, this gradual epiphany through looking inside myself. I'm not distracted by the bullshit of how much money or my position in society. It makes total sense that a person who is free from these THINGS is more likely to reach a certain sense of enlightenment, a certain freedom. I've met some really, really AWFUL "rich" people--like beyond douchbag, and it's not pretty. I can only imagine their "poor" state of soul and mind. They are literally weighed down by their own conception of money and status. They are trapped in the EGO of money. Don't get me wrong, I KNOW that money affords many comforts in life, but still...

How rich are you? I once told a person money isn't everything. And her response was "only poor people say that."

Okay, so I'm "poor" I have no shame in that, but I'm gaining other riches that is boundless, that is expansive, that makes me want to create, love, and be free. In the end we all up in the same place and believe me you can't take dollar bills or real estate with you to the grave. If you put value on a person through a person's bank account or social status I don't want to know you or be around you. If you value love, life, liberty, freedom, and knowledge, you are welcomed into my world. Please, come into my world.

I had a dream or a vision, same thing. It was dream/vision from last Sunday. I was exhausted and sick with a cold. I went to bed and slept for twelve hours, and I dreamed about a box. It was just an ordinary box, but it did extraordinary things. The box in my dream collapsed into itself and then it resurrected itself; over and over and over again.

At first I was scared I tried to wake myself up, I wanted to wake myself up, I struggled, but I stayed in my dream and the box kept "dying" and then "coming back to life." I thought it was a nightmare. I wanted to scream. I wanted it to stop. When I finally woke up, my fever had broken and I felt better, but still a little shaken by my visions.

Then I started to think about it, and it all came together after my Vinyasa Yoga class. The dream/vision was about many things that led to the same thing. My dream/vision was about the impermanence of the things in life, of evolution, of reincarnation, of growth, of learning of letting go, of rebirth and death. My dream was about change and the immense fear that can come with change. I had a vision of change. Let it be.
