Image #1 of the Fox Creek link shows the area we used to capture Rachael’s entire portrait session. The shoot was such a success it even drew the interest of the Fox Creek locals who came out for a mid evening snack. A special thanks to Fox Creek for allowing us carte blanche in using their facility.

As with many of our graduates we are asked to shoot in repeat locations. The challenge for us, how do we use similar locations in new ways. That being said, we were pleased with the new angles and spots we were able to utilize in Hines Park. One of our personal favorites is the sepia toned series among the long grass and wild flowers. Hard to believe it was against a dirt road and a handle full of parked cars!

After some family pics in the backyard we headed to mill race park and captured some breath taking images of Chelsey against the trademark bridge and lake. Despite the torrent of mosquitoes that plagued late summer in Michigan, Chelsey braved the tall grasses and cat tails in fields of Hines Park for some gorgeous images in a vintage western style outfit. We loved the way the setting sun created contrasting colors against Chelsey’s outfits.

As we shifted to something more casual, Jordan again brought his “A” game – wearing a fleece lined red checked flannel, which helped him stand out against the foliage of the Ann Arbor Arboretum.

Before wrapping up the shoot Jordan made time to gear up into full game regalia, giving us a glimpse of what it takes to be an All-State caliber athlete.

An excellent example is the series with Sam sitting in an open field. Included is a series of four images where adjusting the intensity of our strobes or aperture creates an entirely different effect using the sun.

Aside from the wonderful afternoon, it was also nice having the opportunity to shoot some buddy pics with Sams sister, Maddy. We loved her stylish braids and look forward to capturing more of Maddy in 2015!

As the evening drew to a close, an ash grey open cardigan and some distressed capri length jeans seemed to go hand in hand with Abby’s weathered wooden Adirondack chair.

To illustrate the point, I included a side by side to showcase the major difference natural sun light creates. Both images were shot at identical camera settings, only seconds apart, yet notice the different level of dimension and warmth the sun provides.

We were excited Katie did her homework and came prepared to make her shoot a fun experience. We especially loved all the little extras Katie brought: necklaces, hair bows, a vintage selection in clothes, crayons, markers, instruments and an eclectic collection of owl jewelry. Despite the rush to beat the rain and the fading sun we were pleased with how many different poses we were able to squeeze in.

To wrap up the session, Ally wanted to get some pics at her home away from home, the Stevenson Varsity Pool, where she spends her time on the dive team. Although, it took mom some elbow grease trying to secure a time slot we managed to close the session having some fun and challenging Ally to a new dive or two!

She moved quickly to a more elegant and stunning display of trendsetting dresses that captured both her casual and classy approach to life. From an organic and flowing sun dress with a kerchief hemline to a more tailored black dress with a distinguishing red sash, Rachel clearly showcased her diverse style.

As we made our way downtown, Rachel transitioned into the street smart diva complete with sassitude and flair. We fell in love with Rachel’s take on the classic white tee shirt and blue jean look. The vintage leather jacket and brown leather boots created the perfect head to toe look. And, if that wasn’t enough her stunning and captivating eyes completed the ensemble.  We hope you enjoy perusing Rachel’s gallery as much as we enjoyed capturing her spirit.

And, I just couldn’t resist, but had to do this for my good friend, Mike…move over buddy, you’ve got some competition!
