A Little History

The Gunners, who acquired the nickname because they were originally formed by a group of cannon makers at the Woolwich Arsenal, have been in the top flight for 82 years and counting.

Their first golden age came in the 1930s first under the direction of manager Herbert Chapman, when they won three league titles in the space of four years. Chapman died suddenly of pneumonia in 1934, but Arsenal still took two more titles before the decade was out. That spell of dominance was interrupted by the onset of World War II.

The club sprang back briefly after the war, but the late 1950s and 1960s marked an extended dry spell. In 1971, though, it returned to the top of the English game by winning its first league and F.A. Cup double.

It was over the next two decades that the Gunners developed a reputation for boring, though often effective, style of soccer. Calling the club Boring, Boring Arsenal, away fans were often louder than the home crowd in the intimate confines of Highbury. The trophies still came and the reputation stayed, particularly under the direction of George Graham in the early 1990s. He molded a defense-first team, known for stealing games 1-0.
The Wenger Years

All that changed with the arrival of a relatively unknown Frenchman, Arsene Wenger, in 1996. Bringing an entirely new philosophy of football, based around proper fitness, athletic ability, and creative flair, he was responsible for changing the way the game is coached in England.

By 1998, Wenger had given the club another league and cup double, setting expectations at a new high. The most significant season of his tenure was 2004 when he led Arsenal through an entire season unbeaten. Arsenal went on to set the record for longest unbeaten run in English soccer at 49 (between May 2003 and October 2004).

Tomb Raider recently underwent both a renaissance (2006's Legend, an excellent return to form) and a redux (last year's Anniversary, which seems to be in everyone's backlog), so Underworld is effectively right where it needs to be. While it doesn't quite catch up to its competition (notably Naughty Dog's adventurous Uncharted: Drake's Fortune) -- or make the strides that Legend did -- Underworld is an excursion worth taking for fans of low-impact, low-commitment adventuring.

Underworld clings tightly to tradition -- big on exploration and treasure-hunting, with just enough enemy encounters to keep series heroine Lara Croft on her toes. The absolute best thing about Underworld is that it doesn't take exploration for granted: Whether you're swimming in a massive ocean expanse to find a few items scattered on the sea floor or scaling a forest temple looking for a way inside, it's on your shoulders to figure it out, with no hand-holding at all. Both in its solutions and exploration, Tomb Raider's never felt more organic. Sure, it's still a subtle breadcrumb trail of handholds and ledges woven through otherwise natural settings, but the sense of intuitive progression and visual navigation's expertly done.

More importantly, I never got stuck for more than a few minutes. Most of the puzzles involve figuring out how to get from point A to point B (with a few logic quandaries and reflex/timing-based puzzles in-between) in (thankfully) much less arcane ways than past Tomb Raiders. You're given plenty of additional tools to make sure things go smoothly, including sonar that can map out every area in 3D and an "Ask Lara" tips hotline of sorts, but I found these additions pretty useless. What I would like is a button to at least show you the general direction that you're supposed to head in (even if you have to figure out the "how" for yourself), since some of the larger rooms can be a bit confusing initially.

Here's something I find more confusing: how they've managed to make combat less interesting and less fun than ever. You'll battle a few random goons and several brands of endangered/fantastical species (tigers, a kraken, etc. -- all of which I felt a bit bad about killing), but it always feels like a chore that simply distracted from exploration. Battling against humans is simply a matter of emptying a ludicrous amount of bullets into them until they die, while dealing with animals is alternately stupidly simple (when it's bats or spiders) or a hectic mess of flipping around and locking on while suffering repeated knockdowns (when you're dealing with tigers and giant lizards). You can use Underworld's take on "bullet time" in an attempt to kill things in one hit, but the execution is poor and usually too annoying to bother with. Finally, you have five secondary guns to switch between if you feel like pausing the game to swap them around, but they're only marginally different in effectiveness, and none feel satisfying to fire.

Thankfully, the meat of Underworld lies in clambering around the gorgeous environments, which convey a wonderful contrast of tight construction and, at times, immense scale. I also really dig the way that Lara reacts to her surroundings -- she covers her face as she runs by fire or steam and brushes away foliage as she walks through it. And while she is still a bit too disproportionate and cartoony during cut-scenes, Lara's in-game animations are more graceful and expressive than ever. But it is a bit jarring every time the animation is "cheated" to force Lara into landing a slightly off-center jump or realign herself with a ledge, especially in contrast to the silky movement.

Shinnying around works about as well as ever when you're not dealing with the sometimes-malevolent camera. It's kind of ridiculous that we're still talking about camera problems 12 years after the original game. Blind jumps are common, simply because you can't rotate the view to get a look at potential landing spots...and though the risk is usually safe, it really pulls you out of the moment. Lara tends to let an arm hang off when an adjacent ledge is within jumping distance (in order to help instill confidence), but it's not reliable enough to bank on. The other big issue with simply moving around is that not every piece of the environment can handle your presence -- a 1-foot fall could kill you if the surface you land on is considered out-of-bounds. Some weirdness also exists when walking toward ledges, as you're usually stopped in your tracks by an invisible wall before you even get to the edge, requiring a few awkward steps to shuffle over it if that's your intention.

Despite these eye-rolling annoyances, Underworld's worth playing for anyone who's enjoyed a Tomb Raider adventure before. You know what you're getting into, and the silly story does a good job of breaking things up. That said, Underworld is an incredibly abrupt experience, so much so that it makes me question whether content was removed from the complete game to be made available later as the previously announced downloadable content. Six levels in (seven if you count the prologue), the game just...ends. Sure, the last level is a cool showpiece, but it lacks any sense of built-up narrative and even a final boss -- simply a closing cut-scene that wraps up most of the loose ends all too handily. Considering that most areas require copious backtracking (the game uses one brief stage twice in its entirety), it really just felt like half a game by the end. It's certainly worth playing, but after so many years without a decent Tomb Raider to tackle, now isn't the time to drip-feed new ideas and content.

Mau Mau is a classic card game of two to four players on your mobile phone screen. The game is played against three AI opponents, so that total four players participate in the game. The player may choose in menu also different number of players from two to four, and select which players should be present.

Player's cards are located at the bottom of screen. The game is turn-based, each time a player moves, (s)he either plays card from hands, or takes card from the base pile. The goal of the game is to get rid of all cards from the hand. (Note that this description doesn't supplement actual game rules, which are not described here, but are completely described in game's help screen).
After winning a round, the winner gets points, and the game continues with next turn, until one of players reaches such amount of points, that the game is over. The round winners are rewarded after each round, as well as the winner of the game is rewarded when the game is over. The reward is in a form of special item placed in front of winner, and satisfaction from seeing the opponents being deadly sad that they have not won.

The opponents have animated parts of face in order to show their emotions. This includes eyes, mouth, and some figures have special animations (e.g. the boy uses sticking out his tongue when making good turn).
