If there is one place in London that really epitomises the rush hour and the hectic city, its London Bridge. The commuters and the traffic pours across the bridge at a relentless pace, in the morning going north from London Bridge station, and in the evening the opposite direction.

This Time Lapse clip was taken from the North end of the bridge in the morning. What amazes me looking at the clip is the cyclists, they seem almost suicidal. This clip took the best take of an hour to take, and that the time I was more concentrated on photography, and hoping it was not going to start raining. I appreciated that there were cyclist and the rest of the traffic, but when I viewed this timelapse clip and I see the cyclist jostling with the buses and the rest of the traffic it looks really scary.

This is an Iconic clip of London the Tube Train traveling from left to right. Use this clip as a transition between scenes in a video, particularly relevant in relation to Urban and city scenes, and of course London.

Transitions like this help set the background tone and impression, its instantly recognizable as London and urban. So as a transition its a way of informing an audience that the next scene is located in London.

So initially what might seem by itself something of an odd clip, has a lot of relevance when viewed in the context as a transitional introduction to following scene.

   

Whenever I’m abroad and I tell people I live in the UK and in particular London, there will inevitably come a comment about the rain. Its true does rain a lot here, but I try to example to people that its not as wet as they think. All that said that this April ( 2012 ) is about the wettest I can remember.

But I also recall long spells of long barmy hot summers days, and in June and July the days are very long. It can still be day light at 10pm in the evening. But the thing with the rain and the wet in the UK is that its never really reliable.

Anyway, here is a short video clip I did some time ago, on another wet day. This one is a time lapse clip taken on London bridge, I like the speeding Umbrellas the single mindedness of the city workers making for London Bridge station.

   

The dance of slow motion umbrellas as city commuters head for home on a Friday evening. This clips was taken of people crossing London Bridge on a rainy and windy day. I always kind of thought of umbrellas a being black and boring until I made this video. Some of the umbrellas are brightly coloured and that helps brighten up what is general a miserable day. Its interesting to see the movement the umbrellas in slow motion as they bob up and down.

   

A Time Lapse video of people crossing the Tate Modern foot bridge in London. In the background in St Paul Cathedral. The Bridge is sometimes called the Wobbly Bridge due to the fact that is had a tendency to move in an unexpected way. It took 2 years to fixed the wobbly feature, but its still called the wobbly bridge.
The walk across the river is very popular with Tourists, at one end is the Tate Modern Art gallery and Globe Theatre, and at the other is St Paul Cathedral.

   

A time lapse video clip of the London Eye as night falls, the wheel is illuminated with purple lights. The clip was taken over a period of approx 1 hour, and cover the transition from day to night as the London Eye rotates. Included in the clip ate a number of boats speeding along the Thames. Above the London Eye the clouds moving quickly across the sky. As night fall the clouds take on an orange glow with the reflected light of the street lights. In the background the lights in the Shell building behind the London Eye get turned on in sequence.
