The couple who bought these two drawings sent me a picture of how they look on their wall.   It's so nice to see them framed.

On the train to Norwich. At Stratford, I wandered around, pressing my Oyster card against any Oyster presser thing, but getting no reaction, and at last wandered up to platform 10a where the train to Norwich was about to depart, but I didn’t have a ticket, nor were there any ticket machines. A lady train worker poked her head out of the last door of the train, but the second she saw me, she

Let me bid you adieu.  I just got off the phone with a hysterical cat woman, who said she was coming over to my apartment right now. "Uh, but I'm at work.” "You're at work and your cat is missing??” "My aunt said she's probably just hiding.  I shouldn't have called you and said she went up the chimney, because my aunt says that's highly unlikely.” "I don't care what your aunt says.

Yesterday on the plane, the bare feet of my neighbour led me to ponder the bare feet of my ancestor, “Proud Man with No Boots” Julei. Growing up, my mom told me that we had an ancestor who’d gone AWOL from Napoleon’s army during the Russian invasion and wound up in Bukovina. I always felt this made me exotic. It also indicated a certain familial hardiness, which I hoped men would find

I am not a Rob Ford fan, but just felt like doing his portrait for some reason.  The nostrils were a bit of a challenge. I will go back to drawing cats now.

The bus driver stopped the bus and said, or rather, mumbled, "This bus is stopping for two minutes out of remembrance." "Bloody hell," a little girl said.  "I've got to do my shopping," said a woman. "Is it for an ambulance?" asked another. The little girl's mom, who'd been whoo'ing like an owl doing voice training ever since we got on at Crouch End Broadway, sang, "Why do we have to

When I got on the elevator, there was a little girl with her parents. The little girl stared at me, then whispered, "Mommy, there's a lady."  The mother didn't respond.  I kept staring at the doors.  The little girl, thinking her mother especially stupid, whispered again, "Mommy.  There's a lady in the elevator with us."   Silence.  "Mommy! Here's a pastel of a friend's dog -- in progress, but I think almost done except for the background.

I'm not sure I'll finish this drawing, as I ran out of room for this dog's back paws - darn it.  I'll start anew tomorrow.  But, anyway, it's of a dog I saw in Christiania that belonged to a begging guy.

July 31 Dear Mr. Vance, My best friend, Julia, visited during the last days of the school year.  She had been let out from her school-year early, actually kicked out.  Because of too many absences.  She had to take a public bus to school and claims she always missed it.  Her mother works nights and couldn't drive her.  Her sister was kicked out with her.
