The Audio Fires boys have been buys of late and off the back of the full single release of All Of The Way, they got together as a three-piece in the Heritage Council in Kilkenny to record this acoustic version of said single.

They’re up next this coming Saturday in Captain America’s in Dublin, then it’s back on home soil for a show at Billy Byrne’s in Kilkenny on 24 May. They’ll be back in Dublin in June with a gig at the Button Factory on 13 June before playing The Grand Social three days later.

Mark Dougherty, Shawn Smith, Andy Foster, Chris Micca and Owen Burd are Lake Isle, the band borrowing their name from the WB Yeats poem, The Lake Isle of Innisfree. This track (gorgeous track with a somewhat crazy video) marks the opening of their debut full player, Winter Lights, which is due for release on 30 June.

The new single from Neon Wolf drops in a few hours and I Can’t Speak For You ticks so many boxes with a very Arcade Fire-type feel to the whole thing. Leo Pearson is the man again behind the recording. I’ve seen each of the band play in various guises over the years but they’ve hit a real mark and quality of sound with Neon Wolf. Long may it continue.

The 16th annual Kilkenny Roots Festival gets underway today. There’s a whole host of big names coming to town including Hurray For The Riff Raff, John Grant, Ha Ha Tonka, Chuck Prophet & The Mission Express, The Deep Dark Woods, Dead Flamingoes, John Murry, Ed Romanoff, Phosphorescent, The Lost Brothers and more.

And that’s just the ticketed shows.

There’s over 60 free gigs in some of Kilkenny’s finest venues and bars and you’ll get the full listings at KilkennyRoots.com.

Hurray For The Riff Raff have sold out all of their shows ahead of the opening of the festival, but if you haven’t a ticket for them, break out the beers and take in the full live session above.

The summer is seemingly upon us, time to get back in the swing of things and a grand way to do just that is this summer-sounding indie-pop gem from New York-based Hey Anna. The band comprises three sisters Kaite, Anna and Erin Rauch-Sasseen crossing vocals / keys / guitar and bass with friends Andrew Smolin (lead guitar) and Matthew Langner (drums) completing the lineup.

The EP has been released and now there’s a video to match. Filmed and edited only last week, Wait For You is the accompanying visual track to the audio delight of the same name from Kilkenny’s REPLETE (aka Pete Lawlor).

The video features local actors Eddie Murphy who relives a car crash of a night with fellow reveller Connie Walsh. Filmed on location in Kilkenny, the video was produced by Mycrofilms, with John Morton directing, Alan Slattery editing and Ross Costigan on camera.

A day later than planned and a dollar shorter in the week (or something like that), Stereo Mixtape Podcast #004 has landed with another helping of fresh tunes from Ireland, the US, Australia and more countries inbetween. When I started podcasting solo in 2007, Playlist Mix ran for four editions before parking for near on six months, Indie Switch (2011) made it to the third podcast, so I consider the fourth show a pretty strong marker.

Hand On My Heart is one of 12 tracks you’ll find on Leave Your Love At The Door, the new album from John Blek & The Rats, due out this coming May bank holiday weekend. If you haven’t seen or heard of this Cork-based six-piece before, you’re in for a real treat.

They return to Kilkenny on Sunday 5 May as part of the 2013 Kilkenny Roots Festival (Rhythm & Roots Festival), playing Sunday afternoon in Billy Byrne’s at 3.30pm and Sunday night in Cleere’s at 10pm. Both gigs are free of charge.

Check out the video for Kellies, the opening track from Tape Deck Mountain‘s latest EP release, Slow Salvation.

The band released their first album, Ghost, back in 2009 and having been touring around the US since. Slow Salvation got a release back in March of this year but it’s expected that the band will release a second full-length album later this year.

Slow Salvation is available via Lefse in the US and MOUCA in Europe.

Chances Glide is the new single by Brooklyn-based dream-pop band Monocle, taken from their forthcoming sophomore album Transpacific Sound Paradise.

Just because you need a bit of strange in your Thursday. This is White Mountain Return, taken from Master Musicians of Bukkake‘s new album, Far West, due out in June via Important Records. The video was created by Logan Owlbeemoth. The band kick off a string of dates around Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Switzerland with a show in Zeche Carl, Essen, Germany on 15 May. The Scenes have announced a few more gig dates following their European Finalist placing in the International Songwriting Competition for 2013 (they’re one of two European finalists).

The quintent spanning Kilkenny, Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford can be found in DCU with The Strypes on Thursday, the Dandelion Club (Dublin) on Friday and D’Bar in Enniscorthy this Saturday. On the May bank holiday weekend they play Crane Lane in Cork on 1 May and they’ve added a Galway date, playing Monroe’s in Galway on 13 June.

Black And White is the new video from Alias Empire who are set to release their second album, Safety In Numbers, next week. It’s been nearly six years since their debut release, Unexpected Falls, and this track / video is lifted from the new album, parking itself in the middle of a ten-track running order. With the album out on the 12th, the band take to De Baras (Clonakilty) on 19 9April, the Roisin Dubh (Galway) on 25 April, McGarrigles (Sligo) on 26 April and round out the weekend with a show at the Twisted Pepper in Dublin on 27 April.

The Thomas Donoghue Band (featured on Stereo Mixtape 001) have released their latest music video, this time for Railway, recorded during studio sessions at Broderick’s Music Warehouse in Kilkenny. The track was recorded and mixed by Thomas Donoghue with Darragh Byrne the man behind the camera.

The band have recently been confirmed for a show at the 2013 Happy Valley Festival (June bank holiday weekend, Thomastown, Kilkenny) alongside I Draw Slow, The Hot Sprockets, Neon Wolf, Solar Taxi, Oddsocks Revival and more. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for gig updates.

More new music for the weekend, this time from Vipership. About two weeks back they released this video to go along with their From Another Time EP. This is the band’s second EP and is a precursor to their full length debut album due out in May this year. The EP features the equally tasty Thanks 4 Keeping The Wolves Off. The video itself (above) was filmed on location in London, is directed by Elena Lopez-Brea, produced with cinematographer Maeve O’Connell.
