Home improvement is all about efficiency and productivity and here at KERplant we can help. Read on to find out how a skip can help enhance your home project.

The post How Skip Hire Can Speed Up Your Home Improvement Project appeared first on KER Skip Hire.

If you are considering undergoing a drastic home improvement project, then you need to ensure that you have all of the necessary tools at your disposal. There are so many things that you will need to think about, and if you are not properly prepared before you get started on your project, then you are going to be heading for disaster.

One of the things that you are going to need is a skip, and this is one of the many things that people don’t usually think about. However, by hiring a skip you can actually drastically speed up your renovation and aid the process of clearing up and disposing of building waste. Here are a few of the ways in which you can benefit from hiring a skip for your project.

Less Time Traveling Back and Forth to Dump Rubbish

Unfortunately, one of the things that comes with home improvement projects is a lot of rubbish. A by-product of any building project is building waste, and offcuts of unused materials like brick and timber. We also often come across things that we forgot we had, and more often than not, it is simply junk that we don’t want or need.

This junk then needs to be dumped, and this means traveling back and forth to your local rubbish tip. However, by hiring a skip, you are eliminating the need to make these journeys, thus drastically speeding up the home improvement process.

No Need To Hire Somebody To Collect The Larger Rubbish For You

A lot of times, people who are undergoing a home improvement project will have to hire professionals removal companies in order to remove larger objects that are no longer needed. This can cost a lot more money than simply hiring a skip, as well as lengthen the time that it takes to complete the project.

This is because it can often take days at a time to wait for a professional to arrive. By hiring a skip, you can simply dump all of the things that you don’t want yourself, no matter how big or small.

As you can see, there are a lot of ways in which you can benefit from hiring a skip for your home improvement project. Although it can be a very stressful process, the end result will definitely be worth it.

However, it is better to get the process over with as fast as you possibly can.

If you want to make sure that your home looks great within no time at all, and with minimal time invested in clearing the site, then hiring a skip is definitely your best option. To hire your skip, contact us here at KERplant. We are happy to answer any questions that you have.

Here at KER Plant, our team is comprised of experienced professionals who’ve spent many years carrying all different types of work, from small how projects, to larger commercial developments, there’s nothing we haven’t helped complete, and thus learned a good deal from. Of course though, we want to help make your project run as smoothly as possible, and as such, we’ve put together a short guide on how to plan for your big home extension or renovation! Follow these steps below and you’ll get off to a flying start.

Whilst home extensions can be the ideal way to transform your house, and are increasingly popular at the moment with people choosing to renovate as opposed to move, it is of course important to make sure everything is done and planned properly.

Permission

Planning permission is required for most sizable jobs, especially something like a home extension. As such you’ll need to investigate how this is handled in your area, as it often differs from place to place. Local authorities will be able to tell you how to go about this, and you should have a local planning office who’ll supply you with all the information you need. It’s one of the first things to check in the preparation department so make sure this is done promptly.

One of the big things to consider in this case is how will it affect your neighbours. You don’t want to build a huge overbearing sun blocking obstruction in their way, so it’s always best to talk to them first.

Preparing the Area

Once you’ve secured permission to go ahead with the work, is there anything else you need to do the area? If you’re doing the work yourself, you’ll want to start preparing the ground, clearing out your back garden or room and making sure everything is kept in order. Think about space to put waste, building materials, tools and anything else you’ll need and arrange your environment accordingly.

Once you’re ready to go, give us here at KER Plant a call! We offer numerous services to help you out, from skip hire to keep your project organized and environmentally friendly, to aggregates, to groundworks – if you’re in Kettering or the surrounding area, give us a call today!

Here at KER Plant, we’re proud to be able to deliver one of the most comprehensive skip hire services around. No matter what your requirement, whether it’s a small domestic mini skip, or an entire fleet of huge skips for a sprawling commercial project, and everything in between, we’ve primed our stock and our service so that we can be of value you to you no matter who you are. It doesn’t simply end there though, as we aim to deliver for you ubiquitously, and as such, we’ve provided this short guide so you can better prepare your project! Here’s what you can’t put in your KER skip!

Of course, as our service is aimed at sustainability and environmental awareness, we place significant prominence on taking your waste and recycling as much of it as possible. This means though that we can’t take absolutely everything, so here’s what we need to not put in those skips!

Hazardous Materials

Naturally, we can’t deal with anything directly hazardous in this way, and as such asbestos is a no go, as are corrosive liquids, oils and solvents. The risk these substances pose both to our staff and the public, not to mention the environmental detriment they can have means they are a definite no for the skip!

This also includes anything else that could be considered a health risk, so human or animal faecal waste, medical waste or food!

Electronics

Due to their sensitive innards, electronics have specific methods by which we must dispose of them. As this must always be handled delicately and precisely, televisions, batteries, paints, florescent tubes and other such material should be kept away from your skip.

Plasterboard

Here’s a little known one for the factbook – plasterboard, whilst not actually hazardous itself, must be broken down and reclaimed in such a manner that it can often cause a health risk for those undertaking the task! As such, it cannot be placed in your ordinary skip.

Lastly, size and weight and physical restrictions are obvious elements to look out for, however here at KERplant, we supply a whole range of skips, ideal for any size project! Give us a call today and find out how exactly we can help you, and if you’d like any more advice on what can and can’t go in your skip, our friendly team will be happy to assist!

It might not be a startling revelation, but sturdy foundations make for successful projects. There’s simply no two ways about it. If you want to build the best, you need to make sure you’re making the strongest, sturdiest foundations right from the off. Not doing so, in fact, can be incomparably disastrous; it can ruin your work, your reputation and your livelihood. It’s simply not worth it, when the answer to great foundations is just around the corner. Utilizing only the best materials is an absolute necessity, and a way to help guarantee that your project is of the highest standard from foundation to finishing touch. So then, where on Earth do you source the best materials? If you haven’t already guessed, the answer is KER Plant.

And by extension, the answer is aggregates. So how do you know KER Plant provide only the best? With our range of services, we know, understand and appreciate how integral the use of the right materials is to your business. We’ve been there, we’ve experienced the throes of trying to find a reliable source, and as such, we see your situation from your perspective.

Aggregates are used throughout the construction industry and in a huge array of construction processes, often being the integral elements involved in making everything stay together. They’re the most mined materials in the world, reportedly, and the name encompasses a wide range of unendingly useful candidates; including sand, crushed stone, slag and gravel. Composite materials such as concrete also come directly from the use of aggregates.

Simply put, there is no element quite as important as the quality of the materials your expert hands utilize to create pin-point precise projects. That in mind, we aim to deliver you the best in aggregates, and the best in service. We strive to make sure you’ll only ever want to come to KER, and with that in mind we offer a friendly, tailored level of customer care, and aggregates that we know, through our experience out there, doing the jobs ourselves, are the best about.

Whatever you’re looking for in terms of aggregates, give us a call today, and we’ll come up with a solution that fits the needs of your project, with minimal fuss, and maximum quality!

It’s definitely January. You’ll likely already be aware, if not by a general ability to read calendars then by the unending barrage of snow that demanded the country grind to a halt the other week. Only the British eh. Still, January is a time for planning, a time for deciding exactly what 2013 is going to bring you, and a time for making those goals and looking forward to accomplishing them. That in mind then, if you’re thinking about DIY or a bit of home construction to get the year off to a flying start, KER Plant have something that will help!

Yes, the New Year is a time, if not for clear outs and clean ups, then for deciding it really is time to get that bedroom wall knocked through, or that conservatory built, or that kitchen done up. With all the potential to have the home renovated, it’s good to get a plan in place that will smoothen proceedings and help you streamline the workflow of the job. Here then are a few tips for doing just that!

1) Decide exactly what you’ll need. Whether this is materials, tools or anything else; take an objective look at your project and think about what you’re going to require, how everything will be taken care of and how many spares you might need. There’s nothing quite as project-halting as running out of kit.

2) Call in help if required. There’s no point beating around the bush and making the work last longer than necessary. If you can rope a family member or the neighbour into helping out, even if they’re only carting material around for you, it’ll help out no end. Make sure they’re free and available well in advance!

3) Know your limits. We like to promote safety here at KER Plant and as such, don’t strain yourself or put yourself in a dangerous situation. Ensure you have ladders prepared and know beforehand exactly what physical extremities you’ll need to be attempting.

4) Finally, be environmentally minded. If you can do something extra to make your project eco-friendly, then do it. There’re plenty of green methods, so look them up and see how you can help!

Of course, one integral component of any DIY project is the skip. It can help speed up your work, make tidying easier, and be a tick in the environmental box as well! KER Plant can deliver 2 and 7 cubic yard skips, ideal for those smaller projects and domestic DIY! Give us a call today for a quote and make sure your start to 2013 goes just how you planned!

Garden design is a hobby that is currently rocketing in popularity all across the UK. With many people taking to their gardens and treating them like a blank canvas upon which the most introverted brush strokes of their personality may be applied with increasing abandon. Once the designer was bound by their living room or their kitchen, but the hobbyist has most certainly taken to the outdoors of late.

But why? Why now? The chief hinge upon which so many are taking to their gardens is simply that the best equipment is now available and to hand; ready to allow any domestic plot of land to be turned into a beautiful, sculpted work of art; stunning to look at, practical to entertain in.

So how has equipment made such a significant difference? Whilst the idea of garden design is nothing new, now is the first time we can get involved at home in a host of new ways. Landscaping, of course, often requires altering the landscape to suit ones needs, and this is no easy task; at least, not with a spade alone. To be able to make a grassy knoll, or quaint bridge and stream or any type of significant land modification, you’re going to need something substantial.

Introducing, of course, the Kubota KX-36, the star of our mini digger hire service, that we here at KERplant have ready to come to the rescue of your home projects. Whether it is indeed garden design you require of its services, or if you’re attempting some other extravagant DIY project, this machine is the pinnacle of home excavation; small enough to get into the tightest spaces, whilst powerful enough to literally move the Earth.

Naturally, a DIY project can’t simply involve a single piece of equipment, and we’re excited to be able to bring you the full set, the comprehensive tool kit that you’ll need to get your work really moving, and as such, hire a skip to go with the KX-36 and we’ll deliver it for free! With site clearance and aggregates available as well, one phone call could be the answer to transforming your garden from banality to beauty. That number is 01604 780 180!

Mini Skips

We have a handy 2 cubic yard skip available for hire which is ideal for DIY and domestic projects. Although it may seem small you can expect to fit the equivalent of 35 black sacks so it may be the ideal choice. If you need something a bit bigger we also have a 4 cubic yard skip and our most commonly requested 7 cubic yard skips with a drop end for easy use. In order to actually complete your project, you have no choice but to dispose of your waste regularly, which means your project is constantly interrupted by trips back and forth to the local tip. As you’re moments away from embarking upon your next project, take the time to put a stop to those infuriating rubbish runs and come to us at KER Plant to hire a skip; you’ll only have to go as far as your front garden to rid yourself of construction waste.

We can deliver your skip to you at a convenient time; you don’t have to worry about waiting around all day for a delivery that will never appear. Furthermore, our experienced team can advise you through the hiring process, obtain permits and as much as possible we aim to recycle your waste at our transfer station.

From the mammoth commercial tasks undertaken by construction professionals, to the independent, clear-out jobs of the home, hiring a skip can make your life easier and your work more productive. Providing a comprehensive service that caters for all aspects of your skip hire Corby necessities, KER Plant’s range of commercial and domestic skip hire solutions can supply you with a quick-response and convenient delivery that meets all your requirements.

Naturally, the line between the two different types of skip hire can blur and as such, we here at KER Plant are on hand to advise you on the best solution. Our team of experienced professionals are fully versed in the range of available skips and how they are applicable for a variety of tasks, so after a short discussion with a team member, we can derive the best skip hire option for you and dispatch it at a time that is most suitable.

The chief difference between these two services is simply the variety in sizes. We have a range that will suit the domestic uses, with small and large variations, as well as the much larger options aimed at commercial customers.

The two options that make up our domestic service are mini-skip; a handy, 2-cubic-yard skip ideal for small D.I.Y jobs, and midi-skip; a larger 4 cubic-yard option. Both of these are tailored to the home, perfect for whatever your domestic task may entail, from landscaping maintenance to simply clearing out that back room.

The builder’s skip sits squarely in the middle at 7 cubic yards, and can be used in larger domestic application, or, as the name suggests, for minor construction work and as such, is the most commonly requested type of skip hire. Lastly, we have the large 10-12 cubic yard commercial skip, or the huge 15-35 cubic yard roll on/roll off option, for which we can even obtain situational road permits on your behalf.

No matter how large or small your task is, or in what capacity you need it and when it can be delivered, KER Plant have a skip hire service that caters for your every requirement. Our friendly and professional team are available for consultation today so get in touch via our website contact page or give us a call on 01604 780 180.
