The stunning beauty Shriya was the lead heroine of the biggest hit of this year ‘Pokkiri Raja’ and now, she has bagged yet another plum offer. News is that Shriya has been roped in as the heroine for the much talked about film ‘Casanova’. This has superstar Mohanlal in the lead and it is directed by Roshan Andrews. Sources say that the shooting will commence on September 4th. Way to go Shriya!!!

Ashraf to remake avalude ravukal !

As a raging controversy is going on about remaking yesteryear IV Sasi’s path breaking super hit Avalude Ravukal, Shwetha Menon to do the role made memorable by Seema, the original was re-released last week in Kerala theatres.
Avalude Ravukal (1978), is a trendsetter and the debut movie of Seema. Later Sasi married Seema and the couple is living happily in Chennai. It was one of the strongest portrayals of women in Malayalam cinema. Later in the 1980’Seema became the number one heroine
After the success of last year’s Neelathamara, talks had been going on about remaking Avalude Ravukal. Buzz was that director Alleppey Ashraf would remake the film and Shwetha Menon would essay the role of Raji, the commercial sex worker portrayed by Seema in the original.
But then Shwetha denied the news saying that she is not aware of any such project and has no plans to do the remake. While controversies are raging, the original has been re-released.

Kaithapram turns to a Director

Following many other prominent personalities who turned directors in the recent years, Poet and lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri is the new name who will be seen in this new avatar. His debut movie as a director will be titled ‘Mazhavillin Attamvare’. Apart from calling the shots Kaithapram will also pen the story, script, dialogues and songs for the movie.
The present reports are that Pakistan cricketer Mohammed Asif will fly down to play the lead character of the movie. He will don the role of a Pakistan cricketer who arrives as a bowling coach at a cricket academy at Kannur. To be produced by M Mukundan under the banner of Valluvan Kadavu Creations, the movie will start its shoot by this September.

Who is Elsamma….??

Director Lal Jose, extensively known for introducing some of finest talents in Malayalam movies like Kavya Madhavan (Chandranuddikunna Dikkil), Jyothirmayi (Meesa Madhavan), Samvrutha Sunil (Rasikan), Meera Nandan (Mulla) and Archana Kavi (Neelathamara) only to name a few, is back once again to launch a new face in the industry.
His next celluloid venture is entitled Elsamma Enna Aankutty. The film stars Indrajith and Kunchacko Boban in the lead roles. Jose would launch, Ann, who happens to be the daughter of popular character actor Augustine. Co-incidentally, Ann is the first heroine of Lal Jose who has a film industry background.
The film also has a host of other popular stars. Elsamma Enna Aankutty also includes Nedumudi Venu, Janardhanan, Manianpillai Raju, Jagathy Sreekumar, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu, Vijayaraghavan and K.P.A.C. Lalitha in many supporting roles.
Ex-journalist Sindhu Raj, is the scriptwriter for the movie. He earlier had scripted Lal Jose’s Mulla. The film’s producer is M. Ranjith and the music is composed by Rajamani.

Yakshiyum Njanum may be another hit of Vinayan !

The big question being asked in trade circles is whether the Yakshi will save Vinayan once again? His new movie Yakshiyum Njanum with newcomer’s is ready for release on July 30.
There is a huge silent sympathy wave within the industry for Vinayan who lost his war against AMMA and FEFKA. Some years back when Vinayan was facing a financial crisis he made Vellinakshatram with Prithviraj and Karthika, then virtually newcomers.
The Yakshi in Vellinakshatram and Akasaganga saved Vinayan as the films turned out to be a box office hits. Now he is hoping history will repeat again with Yakshiyum Njanum, a new age horror thriller.
The film has newcomers in the lead, Gowtham, Shyam, Meghna Nair and late actor Rajan P. Dev’s son Jubin Raj is also debuting as the villain in the movie. Jubin has been acting in theatres earlier and had been a child artiste.
Sajan Madhav, son of late music director Raveendran, has also made his debut as a music director with some haunting numbers. by scoring music for the movie.
Veteran actor Thilakan, Vinayan’s best friend plays an important role in the movie as an oracle. Vinayan has also produced the movie under his home banner ‘Aakasha Ganga’. Nawaz had done the cinematography and shot the film in exotic locations at Athirapilli, Ernakulam, Kulathoopuzha, and Kutalam.

Shafi joins with Dileep

Shafi will start calling the shots for his new Dileep movie by the tenth of September. Earlier planned in the title ‘Harry Porter’, the makers are planning to change this title for a more appealing name. Produced by Vyshakha films, the movie will be a humourous family affair.

Shafi is currently giving the final touches of his Jayaram movie ‘Makeup Man’ which also features Prithviraj, Sheela Kaul and Kunchakko Boban in important roles.

The director had earlier been with Dileep for the super hit movie ‘Kalyana Raman’, which came out six years ago.

Sequel to ‘Kannur’

Kannur, the political thriller that created waves in the Malayalam movie industry in the year 1997, might have its sequel soon.
The film was directed by Haridas Kesavan. It had Manoj K Jayan along with Vani Viswanath in the leading roles. Manoj essayed the role of a Kannur based comrade named Karivallur Sivankutty.
Presently, news has streamed in that Haridas Kesavan and Robin Thirumala are planning to work on the sequel of this movie. It would be entitled Kannur Veendum. The movie would again have Manoj K Jayan in the main role. It’s planned to be shot in a variety of locations at New Delhi, Trivandrum, and finally at Kannur. The film cast further includes, Vijayakumar, Vijayaraghavan, Bheeman Raghu and Mamukkoya, in addition to Vijayakumar and Risabava. The makers of the film including the cast hope that the sequel would also taste sweet success just like its predecessor.
