A few years ago I made an alphabet. Yes, it’s true. My reason for making it changed and I never used it. But you may remember seeing it on these pages.

So it’s been sitting here on my computer for some time and now I’ve finally made it into a cuttable set of files! I wanted to call it something representative of me and what I love and of course my mind went to our family farm. I thought about how things get weathered and worn there an decided to call it Weathered Door (thinking of the old yellow house). And, oddly enough, when I asked Kassidy what I should call it–what it made her think of to look at it–she said chipped paint. Perfect!

You can get it in of two ways. If you’re just fancying the ruggedness of the letter and that’s really all you want, you can buy just that.

But if you like a layered look, with a solid underside and an outlined top–or if you want to mix and match your letters, you just may want the whole enchilada. Plus, you do save buy buying all three together.

Now while there are distressed fonts out there, this was made with the intention of having it cut on a machine, so it’ll give you the look of a roughed-up letter without so many jigs and jags that a distressed font may have–sometimes shredding your paper.

And just to be clear, these are cuttable files, not a font in its technical term. But they do come in PNG format, so you can add them to a digital page or project as well. If you purchase the three-style version, each letter–upper and lower–in those three styles are saved in one file together. If you buy just the single style, both letters–upper and lower–are saved in one file. It also has numbers and characters. Ya just gotta have those too. :)

Woooooweeeee….. It’s been a crazy past few days (well couple weeks, really. :)). This morning my eyes are swollen and my feet are swollen and all I want to do is just lay around.

We left for HSN on Monday and if you follow me on Facebook, that started off with a bang when I lost my crown late the night before. So I had to go get that fixed before noon…along with all the other errands and packing that needed attending to.

Lots of ‘behind the scenes’ craziness and mayhem that always seems to accompany the HSN shows. But Lisa was super happy to see her new set, which included her new logo. Looks awesome, eh?

Lisa brought Collin to enjoy some Florida sunshine with her before he leaves for his mission in a few short weeks.

Lisa was really sweet to accommodate my desire to see Jordan’s very last choir concert last night. To do that, I had to fly out of Orlando–rather than Tampa–to catch an early afternoon flight. Lisa and Collin were going there anyway for an extra few days, but it is an hour and a half away, so we had to book it after her 9:00 show to get to the airport on time.

All was well and I made it an hour before take off.

All I wanted to do was sleep on the plane because I was soooo tired, but it was not in the cards for me as a toddler was crying and screaming just behind me….for two hours. I usually try to have patience and understanding, but it was really difficult yesterday. All I wanted was some sleep. Headphones didn’t help either. Oh, and before the crying occurred, I had just drifted off for maybe ten minutes when the person next to me needed to get up and use the bathroom. Oy.

Then I reached Denver for my layover.

The 4:25 boarding time didn’t occur until almost 5:00–which was the take off time. While waiting, I see the lightening occurring out the window.

We got on the plane and there’s no air blowing because apparently there’s something being fixed and they are trying to keep the noise down where they are working. Ugh.

After about 15 minutes or so we pull back away from the gate . . . and then sit.

Another 15 minutes go by and we hear word that we can finally go out and taxi. That they had closed down all but one runway because of the weather and that all the planes that were circling were landing.

More time goes by as we sit on the tarmac and slowly roll here and there. Eventually I get to the spot where I can see (because I’ve got a window seat) the majorly long line of airplanes! I started counting, one, two, three ,four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten…. and that was where I couldn’t see anymore but there were more in front of us and more behind the structures that I couldn’t see.

Then the captain comes on and says, ‘Folks, we’re about 20th in line for takeoff…..’

Oh my gosh!

So yeah, needless to say, our 5:00 takeoff time turned to 6:30, which resulted in me getting to my car by about 7:45 and only making it to the last two songs of the choir concert. We live 40 minutes away from the airport too.

I did see this on the way in though.

This is the Kennecott (or Bingham) Copper mine that they had to close down recently because of a landslide (in the middle-right of photo). Kind of cool to see a live birds-eye view of it.

So now I’m dragging and thinking about everything I need to start doing. Working and getting organized. Can’t wait to get rid of that pile in my front room! Pretty darn excited about that.

I love how she used the brand new ‘You Are Here’ in a sort of block form on the layout! It looks awesome!

Here’s what she has to say:

The ‘You Are Here’ symbol is so iconic – it’s amazing how something created not long ago to show people where they were on a map has now evolved into something instantly recognizable by the majority of the population, especially scrapbookers! I was so happy to see Kerri create one for us to play with :)

Rather than use it in it’s traditional sense, I thought it would be fun to use it to draw attention to the fact that my youngest son was sandwiched between two of his (kissing) (girl) friends! I tied my journaling in with the symbol – ‘Sam – judging by the looks of things, ‘here’ was a pretty darn good place for you to be!’ In addition to the ‘you are here’ file, I also used the word ‘lucky’ from the This+That Lucky kit along with some letter stickers to create the title ‘Lucky Duck’. I don’t know about you, but HE sure looks like a lucky duck to me :)

Today is a lovely day. It’s also bittersweet. While I have so many great women in my life like my mother-in-law and my stepmom–and I love them dearly, a girl would still just like to call and wish her own mom a happy mother’s day. It’s been…gosh…almost nine years since my mom passed away. And while every year is easier, there are some days, like today, when you just wish she were around.

One of my girls were asking me about missing my mom a few weeks ago. And I told her that it’s not that I think about her every day in the whole ‘missing’ factor, but rather, I often think, ‘Mom would have gotten a kick out of this’, like when I got to go to London with Lisa to do QVC. Or she would have loved seeing Zach give his homecoming talk. Or she would have loved taking photos with Kassidy. Or to hear that Jordan got to sing in Carnegie Hall.

It’s those moments she’s missing with us physically, although I’m sure she’s probably watching spiritually.

Still not quite the same though. ;)

Anyway, I just wanted to wish all you wonderful women, no matter what stage you are in life, a wonderful day today. And if you have children or a mother, be sure to hug or call them today and tell them just how much you love them. I love my kids very much and regardless of the bickering that occurs (lol), I thank my heavenly father–and my kids–for giving me such wonderful kids. I love them and am happy to be their mom.

And now I just thought I’d leave you with this little collage of my mom–a little memorial, if you will, on Mother’s Day. Love you mom.

p.s. I know I must have photos of Kass with my mom, but the only one I could find at the time is the one of her, Jordan and their cousin walking down the path at Heceta Head Lighthouse in Oregon. One of my mom’s favorite places to be. And it’s one of my favorite photos.

p.p.s. this is a collage from storyboard #8. :)

I can’t believe it.

After just about three months of this whole remodeling process,
I finally have my cabinets and desk.

The biggest part of the remodel has been done for a month, and we’ve just been waiting and waiting for the furniture since then. We still want new windows and blinds, and still need to swap out the light fixtures, but these have been what I’ve been waiting for…and not very patiently, I might add. ;)

So here’s a picture of them when they first got dropped off at 11:00.

The guys dropped them off and then left for like three hours before coming back to install them. I’ve been without internet for most of the day. The cabinets on the right have roll-out drawers and will hold both my printers and all my modem and stuff like that. There are outlets in there too.

And this is a closeup of my desk. I got the idea from the web, but I had them add shallow drawers for all my scrapping essentials. Excited about that.

The cabinet will hold two shelves of 12×12 cardstock, so it’s higher than the usual cabinet.
They are maybe 4 feet tall.

I want simplification.

I’m scaling way back. There will be another set of rustic type drawers against the wall on the left eventually–whenever I find just what I’m looking for…or have made. I’m also going to be using old–or old looking–luggage and trunks that will look cool and decorative and yet hold some of those supplies that I won’t use often.

It’s still a work in progress and I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to get to the office pile in the middle of my front room before I leave for Florida on Monday, but it’s progress. And I will show more pics as I put stuff in and show the organization of it all.

I’m happy. :)

With this new venture comes a new part to my website. And unfortunately, the timing of the creation process did not turn out like I’d planned. I understand we’re ‘in the home stretch’, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a ‘very soon’ for reals.

And you know I’ve got stuff up my sleeve, so to answer probably the second most asked question,

Yes, there will be more classes. :)

Hello everyone and welcome to National Scrapbook Day! We’ve got a big day here at KBS…BIG, I tell ya!

Hopefully you’ve been enjoying the week so far with all the freebies, sales, new kits, giveaways, and ideas. Well, believe it or not, we’ve got one more fun-filled day of NSD craziness!

First, I just want to mention that this is officially launched today!

So what is Everyday Storyteller Vol. 2 you say?

Everyday Storyteller: 33 Practical Ideas from Real World Scrapbookers is an 81 page idea book from the owner of Simple Scrapper, Jennifer Wilson. It was first released in 2012 and is available in digital download and print versions. It is a brand new idea book offering more than 100 tips, tricks and techniques for scrapbooking. You’ll go behind the scenes with 33 of your favorite memory keepers to see how they capture moments, tell stories and document their best memories.

And if you purchase the book using this link from my site, you will receive a $10 gift card to use on my website. You can use it towards the purchase of The History Project (speaking of storytelling), get yourself some photo templates, or have some fun with some digital cut shapes!

To qualify, after purchasing the book (using the link on my site) send me an email at kerri@kerribradford.com with the URL for e-Junkie, which has your order number in it, and I’ll get you on your merry way!

This year it is my purpose in life to record my own history and those are some of the tips I share. But if you want to do do more and become part of this purpose as well, you can sign up for my History Project class, which happens to be on sale for 10% off. Details of the class can be found HERE. And just so you know, there is no such word as ‘behind’ in this class. The important thing is to start now. Get that history out of your head and onto paper. It’s just soooo important.

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for (okay, maybe it’s just me ;) ), with the graciousness of Becky Higgins and American Crafts, I have one of these to give away today!

That’s right boys and girls, it’s a Project Life: Cinnamon Edition!

As you know this one is very near and dear to me on account-a…I like…kind-a designed it and all. :)

So to be entered to win this bad boy, leave a comment with your name and where you are from and I’ll draw a winner tomorrow. (US residents only please.)

Have you seen this in action on AC Digitals?
I think you should go take a gander HERE!
Just click on the different images and it’ll show you what’s been done.

This is just happiness to see…if you ask me…not that I’m partial to it or anything.

oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.

Oh, and it is May….wonder when it’ll be hitting stores!

And now I thought I’d just leave you with a couple reminders
that many titles and backgrounds are on sale through today for NSD.
That includes some wonderful Project Life elements too!

Additionally, this lovely little freebie goes into the store after today so you’ll wanna pick that up too.
<del>You can do that by clicking on the image or click HERE.

</del>This is no longer available as a free file, but you can still pick it up in the store.

Woooooo-weeeee! What a day!
I hope you have the most splendiferous of National Scrapbook Days!

[ Shapes | More Background Basics ]

That’s just totally amazing! Fabulous Miss Laura, just fabulous!
You are my decorating hero!

Here’s what Laura has to say…c’mon….tell us all about this project!

A while back, I was watching the Rachael Ray show and they were doing a segment on “quick fixes” for the home that would normally cost a lot of money. One of the areas they mentioned was tile counters and backsplashes. They showed these vinyl squares that you could purchase online and place directly over your existing tiles. I loved the idea, seeing that I am not a fan of my tile backsplash in the kitchen and have become quite bored with it over the years. I looked around online and the choices out there were limited and not at all my style. It dawned on me that I could cut my own designs using my Silhouette and some vinyl. And after months and months of thinking about it, I finally got around to doing it.

I looked through Kerri’s background shapes and decided on the circle pattern for my design. I happen to have a ton of black 12″ x 12″ vinyl sheets from Making Memories (which worked perfectly fine in my Cameo) from when I designed for them, so that’s what I used. If I was purchasing vinyl for this project from the Silhouette site, I probably would have still went with the black, although there’s lots of fun colors to choose from. My tiles are 6″ squares, so I sized my circle background shape to 5.8″ x 5.8″ and arranged four on the cutting mat. I ended up needing roughly 120 squares to cover my backsplash, which used 30 sheets of the 12″ x 12″ vinyl sheets. There were some tiles here and there that were smaller (the rounded edges by the window and the turns in the corner of the counter), so I simply used my trimmer to cut the pieces to fit. They were super easy to adhere to the tiles, taking only seconds to line it up and stick each one down. I love the huge impact it made in my kitchen and that I can easily change it down the road if desired. While I used vinyl that I had on hand already, if I had purchased the Silhouette Premium Vinyl for this project, the cost would have only been $50 total. And don’t forget, I know have thirty sheets of the negative part of the design left over. This means I have ONE THOUSAND polka dots that I can use for something. I’ll let you know if I figure out what to do with them!

And I am dying to know what you’re gonna do with all those dots Laura! ;)

Oh, oh…did you say freebie?
Okay. Here ya go!

<del>To download it for free, click on the image or click HERE.
It’s only free through Saturday–National Scrapbook Day, so you’ll wanna be sure to get it now.</del>

This is no longer available as a freebie, but you can get it in the store.

And now….let’s announce the three winners of the $25 gift cards!

They are:

GWEN LORDS – MAY 2, 2013 – 9:27 AM
I don’t really have any plans. I will probably work on some mother’s day projects. Would love to win, I love your stuff. Have all of your silhouette classes and have learned so much!!! Thank you!

DIANE – MAY 2, 2013 – 12:53 PM
Diane here. I will be leading demos at a make n take at a local scrapbook store on NSD. As an employee we can’t take advantage of sale prices there so would really love to win your giveaway.

TERESA BEG – MAY 2, 2013 – 4:03 PM
I have been saving a scrapbook kit. Hopefully I will get it all done!!!

Congratulations! Email me at kerri@kerribradford.com and I will get you all squared away!

And we can’t forget about what’s on sale today!

Yep. All backgrounds and titles…the foundations for all your pages…are on sale for 20% off today!
Just take a gander through the store and look for the Sale tags. (Excludes the most recent Say What 4.)

Oh, but wait, there’s one more thing!

It’s a brand new kit!

I’ve always been a fan of negatives and polaroids. In fact, not too long ago, the kids brought home a metal tin full of slides from their grandfather from the 40s. They were soooo cool! And when little Miss Nichol said she needed some new KBS frames? It was kismet…and this was born.

Lots of fun things to use here. You can use them with or without the heart/chevrons/photo or you can even mix it up and put them on a different frame or add your own accent to it.

Lot’s of possibilities . . . . Oooh, and the square ones would be so fun for Instagram=-style photos!

Whew! What a day!

But there’s gonna be something you won’t want to miss tomorrow too!
