Ian turned 9 a few weeks ago. Here are a few random things about Ian now that he is nine.

• He is in third grade in Mrs. Dahlkamp’s class.
• He loves video games, especially Minecraft.
• He still loves karate. He is currently a Chan Ban Bu and 2 belts away from a black belt.
• Legos, Bakugans, and Pokemon cards are some if his favorite toys.
• He does well in school and scores above grade level for reading and math, but everyday tasks at school are a struggle for him.
• He is still sweet and likes to hug and snuggle his mama.

She loves it! She has been asking me to join the Black Belt Club for quite a while now. What it means is that she has made the commitment to stay in karate until she earns her black belt. She had to write a paper about why she wants to be a black belt. I wrote it out for her and then she copied it down. After that she had a meeting where she sat down with Mr. Klekas and went over all the belts she must earn on her way to black belt. For Nora, it will probably take around 2 1/2 years, depending on how hard she works. She was so excited she was just beaming. I’m proud of her and happy that she decided to make such a big commitment!

What could be more perfect than a video game party? A big trailer pulled up outside of our house and parked. All the kids piled in and played video games. Ian and I had a mother son date at Color Me Mine on Monday night. I used his feet to make the “mistletoes” plate. I helped him with the handprint on the snowman plate and then he did all the decorating. We had a fun time spending some one-on-one time together. I can’t wait to see the results when the plates are fired.

We bought a fishing trip with a guide at a fundraising event for a good friend of ours. We waited until the very last minute to use it, but we finally did. Every time I go to the Green River I wonder why we always wait so long between trips. It is truly one of my favorite places to be in the world. I just feel so at peace and happy when we are there. This trip was no exception. It came at a perfect time. Scott and I needed a couple days away by ourselves. The weather was perfect and the fishing was amazing. I think I caught the most fish I ever have in one day. I can’t wait to go back!

I picked up the turkey plate that Nora and I made. I LOVE how it turned out. It was definitely a mommy daughter date that we will have to repeat!

On Saturday after Thanksgiving, we all made the trek to the North Pole. The North Pole in Colorado, that is. The North Pole is a Christmas themed amusement park with an ice-covered pole that never melts. The kids had a great time going on all the rides. Since I get so motion sick, I had fun watching them ;-) I nearly got sick just watching some of them–especially the tea cups. I thought some of the adults might get sick on that one! It was a fun way to spend the last day of our Thanksgiving vacation.
