But first I want to reply to more of your Comments questions:

1. Did I design my blog, change the look of the blog or do any customization?

The answer is NO. I downloaded all 3 ProSense themes and chose the brown color, but in the Dashboard which is your Admin “control panel”, if I go to Themes under the heading Appearance, I can Activate the blue or grey color and Deactivate the brown color. It just takes a few seconds. Once you are logged in of course, your Dashboard with all the major and minor headings, can be seen on the left side of your screen.

Apart from the Header and Footer graphics which we’ll talk about next article, I didn’t add anything else but plugins and widgets. I did play around a bit with the Sidebars. I chose to have 2. The sidebar in the middle is Sidebar 1 and the sidebar on the right side of screen is Sidebar 2.

2. Do you have to have knowledge or experience  with HTML, coding, programming or WYSIWYG editors?

The answer is a definite NO! I’ll show you illustrations later, but take a banner ad for example. There might be 4 lines of coding for this banner but all you need is cut-n-paste. You substitute your Affiliate ID where you see ‘xxxxxxxxx”. Most of the time you will “Select All” then save in Notepad until you’re ready to insert this banner in your blog post. We’ll talk about this in more detail later, because you can’t select a banner which won’t fit your post. Mostly they’re too wide.

So what I’m saying here is you need Notepad and will use it a lot, not just for banners. I love Notepad!

3. Can I use part or all of your blog articles on my blog or website?

You certainly can and I’m very happy to help. Just acknowledge me and my blog as the source. And no violence, porn, sex, racism etc. This is a family blog.

4. Can I write and submit articles for your blog?

You certainly can and you are most welcome. Same proviso as above. I will make sure your name/site is advertised. 400 words minimum and email draft copy first to Kevin Johnston, giddaymate@hotmail.com.au

5. Your blog is slow to load or I can only see parts of it.

Make sure you clear your cookies. I remember once, I could not see my blog and was panicking. I contacted D9 Hosting who host my blog and they checked at their end…..no problem..all OK. After I cleared my cookies, my blog was now visible to me. I never thought deleting cookies was so important.

Even if you have the best ISP in the world we all know that at various times, maybe peak periods, loading any web pages can slow down sometimes. For every 2 of you finding slow loading, 5 of you find the loading extremely fast. If this was a constant problem I would reduce the number of posts visible to you at one time.

6. Your blog is great but I’m having trouble with IE8 or Opera or other browsers.

The comments are saying my blog is awesome and very helpful, but can I fix this browser problem, as if the problem is at my end. There are hundreds of browsers, I think the count is around 900. Now we all know the browsers want to make money but basically they provide the same service. That doesn’t mean they are all equal.

Suppose you have 900 fast food/hamburger outlets in your town. That doesn’t mean all 900 hamburgers will look and taste the same.

7. Next we have to talk more about my blog, my niche, how did I start and what developed after that, did I have help, and what was the sequence of what came first, second, third etc. Do I advertize etc?

Apart from porn, sex, racism, violence….I can and will write articles on any topic. A lot of stuff I know already and some I don’t, so the information comes from researching the topic and/or speaking with my mentors plus friends and colleagues who are very knowledgeable and highly qualified in certain areas. This includes many Doctors, Medical Specialists, Scientists and Researchers……….don’t worry about this, they’re easy to find and I will tell you whatever you need.

I chose to have a blog about everything BUT the penalty for me is the time factor. I have put in hundreds of hours building and maintaining this blog. I know exactly what I could add or improve, such as adding classified ads or banner ads, but it comes down to time and priorities. The bottom line is dedication and hard work

You can do exactly the same and I will help you all the way. But you would need to accept the time commitment. Myself, I would love to spend more time building up my Facebook, Twitter pages as an example, plus Mobile Marketing, Gaming and YouTube.

So, just to repeat my advice of yesterday, your blog should be on ONE main topic! Stick to this concept.

If you choose to build and own a ONE TOPIC blog, then you will have a lot more time to do this well, plus have multiple blogs and websites maybe. Also the cost of your software and plugins may be cheaper because you are “single user”. The list of merits goes on.

BUT there are various good ways to have a ONE TOPIC blog. They are all possible, extremely interesting and exciting. If you follow my lead, you can have your own finished blog before the end of this month!

I’ll explain everything as we go along and will keep things simple. Don’t forget what I’ve said a few times and that is, there are always exceptions to most rules, and often more than one good way to complete a task. But I will tell you what worked best for me because I didn’t know anything about blogging when I started 3 years ago.

Also I’m writing a series of articles/posts not a book so I can’t cover and explain every little thing. But I will use these articles to answer questions you have been asking me in your Comments.

I know for sure that many of you would love to be creative, inspirational and have your own blog, but you’re worried about how to get started and after that, does blogging take up a lot of your time. I will cover this in detail soon, but the answer is no it doesn’t. Let me rephrase that. It can take up hours per day, like my blog does, but it doesn’t have to because of new plugins, PLR niche blogs and availability of good articles. I know that’s vague but hang in there, and all will become clear  very soon. The bottom line is just DO IT! My articles will show you the way.

There have been many wonderful and even amazing new products such as themes, plugins and graphics, released in the last 18 months, which make blogging so much easier, faster and cheaper. You don’t have to spend big bucks to have a good blog you are proud of. As far as learning is concerned, there are some excellent eBooks, sets of videos, and a broad range of good tutorials, training courses and workshops. We will be discussing all of these as we progress.

You are all encouraged to have your own blog and possibly multiple blogs as long as you maintain a high standard and don’t get tempted to use short cuts such as computer generated articles. Search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo hate duplicated or recycled stuff but they love popular blogs which are interesting and topical ith fresh and updated content. After all, the Internet is an information highway is it not, enhanced by social networking.

Blogging is just so much fun and so rewarding, plus I get to meet wonderful people like YOU! You can put your heart and soul into your blog…it isn’t just posting articles with empty words!

Your choice is to have either or both, a personal and business blog but never to mix them together unless you are using a personal experience or family issue to illustrate or emphasize a point. This could easily happen for instance if you’re discussing health or self help topics.

The gap between “what is a blog” and “what is a website” is closing, such that many people, even experienced marketers, in general discussion refer to them as being equal.

A website can be as simple as 1 or 2 pages, 3 or 4 is usually better. It doesn’t require much updating except for maybe a new product, a review, an image or a price alteration. So, overall the site appearance plus content looks and remains much the same.

This is changing, but presently blogs do look like blogs especially with their layout and sidebars. Blogs have unlimited posts and pages, so 200 pages or more is achievable. A good blog has new or updated articles/posts, maybe even daily. Because of better quality themes and graphics now available, the blog owner can change the appearance and colors, add images or videos (even audio and music). And don’t forget the popular and amazing YouTube videos can be installed on blogs.

So let’s get started:

1. Everyone wants to know what theme my blog is using and did I customize it or change the design around. The answer is my theme is ProSense Brown. You can also have blue or grey and switch these around like changing your shirt.

Obviously I’ve got plugins and widgets (sidebars). The header and footer graphics cost about US$30 together and were outsourced. There is nothing else I have outsourced except for the domain name and D9 hosting…..More details later.

All you need do is enter prosense theme in your browser search bar, click on the first or second search result and then you can access the 3 themes to download. Don’t forget to first create a new folder in Documents called Blog Themes or ProSense Themes or something similar. This will keep your 3 downloaded themes together. Upper case and lower case letters don’t matter with browser searches.

AdSense refers to Google ads you can have on your blog if you want to later on, after you join Google AdSense, you can apply for and receive your Publisher ID which looks like this: pub-5623846423971094.

Google pays you money when their clients’ ads on your site, are clicked. These ads do change automatically, depending on what your articles are about.

ProSense: An Adsense Ready SEO WordPress Theme

Over the past week I’ve been working with Maki from Dosh Dosh on a new WordPress theme we have named ProSense. Our goal was to create a fast loading theme that was easy to customize, with well blended AdSense units included by default. It can be a pain trying to find the optimal position for AdSense units, so to trying to get them to blend seamlessly. This theme removes that tedious task and allows you to focus on what’s most important: your content.

Over the coming week we’ll be releasing some variations on this theme to give users a greater choice when it comes to colour schemes. There has already been some requests and we will try to address them all.

*** I should explain that choosing your theme is NOT your first task. I’ve got it at Number 1 because so many of you have asked me about my blog theme so I thought if I put it at Number 1, you will see it better.

Also we have to discuss later, the procedure for uploading your chosen theme to your web space which is your “home” on the Internet. This procedure is called FTP (File Transfer Protocol).

2. Your first task is to decide what your blog is going to be about, and to give your blog a name. Take your time with this and try to get it right. Too many new bloggers race to get started and regret their haste later. The same problem happens when new Affiliate Marketers first look at the Clickbank Marketplace to choose one or more product/s to promote from a list of at least 12,000 products.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes and we all do dumb things.

I made mistakes and it can waste your time AND MONEY because you end up buying domain names you don’t really want for a single or group of products, or topics you thought were OK, but you decided later, they weren’t.

What your blog is about is the same thing as deciding your niche. It’s not essential that you have experience with your niche but your readers will sense your enthusiasm when your on familiar ground especially when you can quote a couple of examples or tell a story. Also it will be much easier for you when it comes to writing articles for your blog, both in terms of “writer’s block” and filling out your articles to a reasonable length. But no padding please.

You should aim for at least 500 words per article with 400 words the absolute minimum.

I want you to stop here and have a really good think about whether your goal is to provide just information OR to sell a product or service OR maybe a bit of both. You could also provide article reviews about certain products and /or services. This is a good selling technique as well.

Review sites whether they be a blog or website, are usually quite popular because you are helping people to judge and decide. Another big plus for you is the perception of your readers that you are an expert and your opinion is valuable. Furthermore, if they value your opinion they are more likely to decide/choose more quickly. Maybe they’ll buy your product. Possibly you have saved them 3 days of searching the Web. What a wonderful person you are! LOL.

*** I need to clarify some thing here. There are some experts who claim that your first task is to choose and purchase a suitable domain name. I don’t see how you can do this because your chosen domain name is supposed to describe as closely as possible your website business or the guts of what your blog is all about. And at this point in time, you haven’t done that yet.

3. This is the fun part where you get down and dirty, and actually get to do something important….which is choosing your niche. Remember we said that the niche is the information and products that people want to read about. They are already searching for this info on the Internet and if they have an urgent and desperate need they are more likely to buy even if the price is a bit high. So, YOU want these people to find YOU meaning your blog!

Now the next section is really really important and you must understand the concepts.

You will own the blog….it’s yours….. so you can do what you like with it. BUT blogs are supposed to be about only ONE subject. Your blog might be about learning to play golf but you can include and sell on your blog, lots of golf products and accessories. These golf bits and pieces may have become available to you as an Affiliate Marketer with Clickbank or one of the many other sources we’ll talk about soon.

Or your blog might be about learning to play the guitar, but it gives you the opportunity to sell certain types of guitars and accessories. Now in both examples….golf and guitars, you most likely don’t need lots of articles, maybe only 10 or 20. After all, the world of golf and guitars shouldn’t change much day to day? You decide….you’re the boss!

So blogs like these, article wise, should not require much maintenance and time from you, except that you will need good illustrations and images.

If you decide to have a self-help blog, such a subject could be very interesting but self-help might include 200 topics or more. So you would be extremely busy researching and writing. Maybe you should choose a popular topic such as yoga or essential oils, except that now you have lots of opposition and 100′s, maybe 1000′s of sites competing. In this example you would need extensive research and possibly drill down to a sub-topic as discussed recently.

Have a close look at the charts below. For this exercise, I used the Google AdWords Keyword Tool so search for this. Then I entered 4 keywords on separate lines…..these keywords were….cellulite, cosmetic surgery, skin care and weight loss. I clicked on Search and got about 100 results which are shown below. Keywords are actual words and phrases that Internet users search on.

It’s pretty obvious from the results below, which subject areas would be safe to build your blog on, but you must never follow everyone else like sheep. Some of the most successful marketers, and I do this myself, are successful from doing the opposite to everyone else. If you  are blogging about weight loss, it’s safe ground, but you would have to try a unique approach because of huge opposition from so many other blogs/sites.

 Search results for these keywords: skin care, cosmetic surgery, weight loss and cellulite.

The high numbers are for Global Monthly Searches while the smaller numbers are for Local Monthly Searches.
