Lindsey and Matthew are an amazing couple that we had the joy of photographing their wedding and before that, we had the awesome pleasure of photographing their engagement session (e-session)!  We had a wonderful day with them at their engagement shoot and enjoyed seeing and capturing their playful side with each other as well as their sweet loving natures!  We found some great spots around the Ironwoods Lodge in Leawood, KS and captured their K-State Spirit and beautiful love for each other!  We can’t wait to share Lindsey and Matthew’s wedding photos soon!  Until then, here are a few of our favorites from their e-session (engagement session) Check back soon to see their wedding photos!  They are incredibly sweet because they are an incredible couple!!

We have discovered an awesome resource for photographers and photography enthusiasts!  ”Creative Live” is an amazing tool for anyone who is wanting to learn and grow their photography skills!  From posing and composition all the way to having a successful photography business, ‘Creative Live’ has FREE 3 Day Photography Workshops that are broadcasted live on the internet with some of the photography industries best and well known photographers!  We have really enjoyed the ones we have watched and are excited to share this with you!

The next free online workshop is going to be on April 5-7th.  Don Giannatti will be teaching the workshop all about “Lighting Essentials.”  You can see more info and view a promo on the ‘Creative Live‘ website…

The workshops are free for everyone to watch and learn from while they are broadcasted live across the world.  They also record the workshops and sell them after the live broadcast in case you miss it or if you want to purchase it to have a reference for the info.

We were so sad to hear of the unexpected passing of Davy Jones today!  Davy was the lead singer of the iconic band, The Monkees… “Hey, hey, we’re the Monkees!”  We had the pleasure of photographing Davy Jones when he came to Kansas City as a celebrity for the Shadow Buddies Foundation charity event.  He was so lively and full of energy.  He was telling stories about his horses and his wife to all of his fans and having a great time.  I remember thinking to myself “I hope I look that young and have that much energy when I am in my 60s!”  It is so hard to believe that he is gone.  Peace be with him and his family!  These photos were taken at the Caeman Castle the night before the Shadow Buddies event where they had a special VIP dinner for a few of Davy’s select fans…

When we arrived at Drexel Hall, all the wedding party was bustling around in preparations for the day ahead!  We always love capturing the bride as she gets her makeup and dress on!   Amy was absolutely stunning with her beautiful skin and deep auburn hair as the window light lit up her face!  Wow!

Once they were ready, Tim and Amy had their ‘first look’ and it was priceless!  We love the photos we get from the ‘first looks’ at weddings!  They are always so filled with emotion and joy and it is beautiful in so many ways!  We not only got some great photos of Tim and Amy, but we also got some awesome photos of the bridal party standing inside the doors peering out the windows eagerly watching as they saw each other for the first time!  (We have some awesome shots of that, so be sure to scroll down )  It was so cute!

It was incredibly hot day that day but the wedding party were all troopers and we got some gorgeous photos at the Kauffman Rose Gardens.  The colors of all the plants and flowers couldn’t have been any more beautiful than they were that day!

After their ceremony and bubble exit at Countryside Christian Church, guests enjoyed a wonderful reception at Drexel Hall; complete with dancing, great food, and an immensely yummy wedding cake by The Dreamery Bakery and an awesome Canon Camera Grooms cake (like the one we had at our wedding)!  Katherine Gamon is SO talented!  Needless to say, it was an amazing day for an incredible couple!  Congratulations again Amy & Tim!!

Where to begin… Sara and Alex are an amazing couple that we have the privilege of photographing their wedding this year!  We had an awesome time with them at the Kansas City Plaza and Loose Park taking some fun e-session photos of them!  Every moment of the shoot was filled with smiles and loving giggles as Sara and Alex were in their beautiful world together while we got to capture it!  Sara’s smile is infectious and I challenge anyone to trying not to smile while she is around!  Not possible!  :)  It was so fun to watch as Sara melted when Alex played his guitar for her and ever sweeter when he was showing her how to play it!  The shots of them are precious!  I love the way she looks at Alex!  From the dressy shots on the plaza to the flannels and guitar playing at the park, these two are a match made in heaven and very obviously are meant to spend their lives together!  We are so excited to share their e-session with you and to shoot their wedding soon!

We love LOVE and want to share this awesome find with you!  We saw a Groupon several weeks ago for the ‘iLike’ Books and ordered some for ourselves.   In fact, it was one of our Valentine’s Day gifts this year and we are excited to begin our book and look forward to reliving our daily love stories of each other!

These books are a fun and easy way to share your love and appreciation for each other!  The ‘iLike for Couples’ book is filled with cute drawings, great quotes, and pages where couples can write daily notes about how much you love your spouse, what you are thankful for, or whatever you would like to share about the things you ‘like’ about each other every day.  What a wonderful blessing for each of you to then go back and see what you appreciate about each other!  What better (and easier) way could there be to build each other up and see the things that mean the most?!  

They also make ‘iLike’ books for kids too!  It is also an awesome way to build your little ones up and keep a priceless account of all the amazing things that make your children who they are!  What an encouragement and confidence building gift for your kiddos!

There are so many incredible ideas and things that we have seen throughout our years of wedding photography and we want to share some of the awesome things we have seen with you!  Hopefully it will help in getting your creative juices going and help in coming up with something that will be perfect for your big day or someone else’s!  :)  This is just the first of many to come, so stay tuned and check back often!

Our first “Wedding Details Breakdown” is from a recent destination wedding we photographed in Nebraska.  Check out the photo below of the centerpieces they used and then check out a breakdown of what this couple did to create this beautiful detail for their wedding…

These centerpieces looked beautiful and elegant and matched the feel of their day perfectly!  When I asked where they had gotten their centerpieces, they told me that each one was created using a frame they had bought and painted and taken the glass out of, with oranges filling the space inside the frame, and tiny delicate orange flowers and one larger purple lily on top to tie it all together.  So simple but so stunning!  They had found an awesome deal on the frames, easily matched their wedding colors when they painted them, and bought the vibrant colors to life with oranges and flowers.  I must say, the textures and sizes of the flowers was the perfect finishing touch to bring all the elements and colors together!

Brigid and Brandon are probably two of the sweetest people out there and it is so fun to watch them share that sweetness with each other in the absolutely precious love they have for each other!  We had the joy of photographing their lovely wedding recently and enjoyed every moment!  Brigid and her beautiful bridal party got ready at her parents house, a very special place for her because she has grown up there!  Just before Brigid and Brandon’s first-look, we got to take the ladies outside and grab some beautiful photos with the gorgeous trees that were full of fall colors!

Brigid and Brandon had their first look at one of our favorite places, an old little school  house in Olathe.  The excitement and joy they had when they finally saw each other for the first time was so sweet and we couldn’t put our cameras down as they shared that special moment together before their ceremony at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where they had both gone as they had grown up!

The bridal party hopped into a limo and we headed to Nelson Atkins Museum to get some awesome bridal party photos before heading to the Overland Park Convention Center for their reception!  We have been to the Overland Park Convention Center many times and they always do such an amazing job!!  From the beautiful ice sculpture, to the sweet Panda Wedding Cake, tasty food, and the LIGHTBOX Photo Booth, their reception was awesome and everyone had a great time dancing the night away!  One of my personal favorites were the cute little gnome centerpieces they had on the tables as table numbers!  SO CUTE!

Brigid and Brandon, you are amazing and we couldn’t be more happy for you guys!  Congratulations and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful things that are ahead for you both!!
