All I had was the word of mouth of a couple of friends. Well let me sum it up here: do not find out what the movie is about, simply go see it as soon as possible

The problem with the modern movie experience is the abundance of media coverage: the trailers you see over and over, the so called viral campaigns and the Internet gushing or bashing. Another big one is overselling it which sets up impossible expectations (and I suppose this post does little to help)



This movie was very surprising, thoughtful, fulfilling and left me with questions after the credits rolled which is more than anything else I've seen this year or in recent memory. In other words District 9 is not boring



If you check these things, D9 currently has a rating of 8.7 at imdb, 87% at rotten tomatoes and 81 metacritic. There's also a wonderful review with the nyt but again I must encourage you to go watch D9 without further readings and dicussions. Wouldn't you rather be amazed? Sure disappointment is possible and people's taste differ but the alternative is really an exciting thought
