Tobacco: The cause of all Disease

Smoking and chewing tobacoo in any form leads to hart attack, stomach disease, blindness and infertility.In the recent research conducted in India smoking will be responsible for one in every five male deaths and one in 20 female deaths in the age bracket of 30-39 years.

80% of smokers start smoking before age 21
100% of humans start out life as non smokers…if you were a non-smoker once, you can become a non-smoker again.

Why do people start smoking???

* to alleviate stress, life problems
* peer pressures and social acceptance issues are important factors
* family history, parental modeling of smoking behavior
* lower economic status predisposes a person to become a smoker
* wanting to appear mature, self-confident and independent
* personality with tendencies toward risk taking behaviors
* extroverted individuals are more likely than introverted people to become smokers . . .

* Myers-Brigg Personality test (The Keirsey Temperament Sorter) This test yields interesting information about your style of thinking including introversion/extroversion scores!!! Try it it’s fun!!!
* Why do you smoke? take this short interactive test and find out!!!

Child and adolescent smokers

11% of youths aged 12-17 have smoked in the past month in 1991 and in a 1995 survey as part of the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System 34.8% of students had smoked cigarettes on one or more of the 30 days preceding the survey (i.e., current cigarette use) and 16.1% of students had smoked cigarettes on 20 or more of the 30 days preceding the survey (i.e., frequent cigarette use).

IN INDIA

India has been tightening laws on smoking in public places in recent months in an effort to curb high levels of tobacco addiction - to little effect.

Recent laws have banned direct and indirect advertising of tobacco products and the sale of cigarettes to children. Anyone caught breaking the law will be fined 200 rupees.

According to a 1996 survey reported by AP news agency, 112 million people smoke tobacco in India, while 96 million use tobacco products like chewing tobacco.

How does smoking cause cancer?

Cigarette smoke is packed with roughly 4,000 compounds, many of which are toxic and can damage our cells. Some are carcinogenic (cancer-causing). The three main ingredients of cigarette smoke are:

* NICOTINE

* CARBON MONOXIDE

* TAR

NICOTINE is not carcinogenic. It is a highly addictive and very fast-acting drug.

Once inhaled, nicotine reaches the brain in less than 15 seconds. Most smokers are addicted to nicotine and crave cigarettes to feed their addiction.

CARBON MONOXIDE is a tasteless, odourless poisonous gas. It is taken up by the bloodstream quickly and impairs the smoker’s breathing. The gas is also emitted by car exhausts, faulty boilers and fires and is very dangerous in badly ventilated

spaces. Inhaling too much carbon monoxide causes coma and death by asphyxiation.

TAR is a substance made up of various chemicals, many of which are known to cause cancer. Around 70 per cent of the tar in cigarettes is deposited in the smoker’s lungs.

health point in foot

if you massage these points you will find relief from aches and pains as you can see the heart is on the left foot.

Typically they are shown as points and arrows to show which organ it connects to.

It is indeed correct since the nerves connected to these organs terminate here.

This is covered in great details in Acupressure studies or textbooks.

God created our body so well that he thought of even this. He made us walk so that we will always be pressing these pressure points and thus keeping these organs activated at all times.

So, keep walking…
