It cannot be denied that Nike SB and Michael Lau have surely made numerous collaborations in the previous years. But this specific pair that you will see is somehow a secret pair since this is a sample that was never released. Most of you would remember the sneaker pair of Nike SB Blazers that Michael Lau made with Nike not so long ago. This came also with a special edition box. These shoes are all new in looks now and impressive in its own right.

These have uppers in predominant white color with red accents all throughout the rest of the portion. Hence, the white is accentuated well with the red color that makes it look very pleasing and will surely make you wonder why it was never released. What we think is that maybe Michael Lau was not so satisfied with the colors himself and so he decided not for Nike to release it.

You would really find it amazing at times when you realize that Converse has been doing Chuck Taylor since 1917. This makes it just a few years younger than being considered 100 years in production. At one point, these shoes remain unchanged especially with its basic features and designs. It has even managed to stay essentially modern regardless of how many trends and seasons have passed. This is really an impressive feat for any sneaker brand to accomplish. Hence, on our end as sneaker fanatics and reviewers, we are proud to say and announce always new versions that come up for the Chuck Taylor. Today, we will be looking at the brand new Converse Chuck Taylor Nylon All Star Pack.

Can you even imagine going through life without sneakers? They’re so much a part of the growing up years that it’s a safe bet you can’t think of one person that didn’t own a pair. These special shoes became part of our normal life when Boston school kids used the term ‘sneaker’ in 1887 (as credited by the New York Times) as slang for tennis shoes.

Style icon Audrey Hepburn made Keds fashionable in the classic 1960s film "Two for the Road"

Keds were introduced in 1916 by the U.S. Rubber (later known as Uniroyal, then Uniroyal Goodrich, and finally acquired by Michelin but is now owned by Stride-Rite) and was the launch of the original sneaker brand that brought it into popular culture and created a new footwear category. The very next year, the term ‘sneakers’ referred to the American Classic: the first shoe with a soft rubber sole which was so comfortable & quiet you could “sneak” up on your boyfriend or unsuspecting friends and family. This original sneaker, called “the Champion”is still a style icon after ninety years.

1924 was the year that Keds became the footwear of choice for pro tennis players during 13 tennis championships. Basketball icons and Olympic soccer champions followed in their steps and Keds became a household name. In 1926, the Triumph, which fused fashion and athletics with tweed on top of the rubber sole, was introduced to America. Again, it’s such a hit that it’s the shoe associated with the typical all-American teen that had the energy to study all day and dance all night.

The New Scientific Lasts and the New Keds Shockproof Insoles of air-filled, shockproof sponge rubber were introduced in 1934. The revolutionary invention cushions the feet and absorbs jolts and jars, making Keds the number one choice for comfort.

Natalie Portman taking her Yorkie out for a walk in her Keds

Women started clamoring for more than just smaller sizes of the men’s shoe so in 1938, Kedettes for ladies started production. These were the first high-heeled shoes with a comfortable, shock-absorbing rubber sole and many ladies started to choose them over traditionally constructed leather walking shoes. Suddenly, seeing sneakers on women wasn’t something outrageous anymore.

PRO-Keds debuts the Classic Royal for more serious athletes like George Mikan (AKA Mr. Basketball) in 1949. Following the success of previous years, they become a court staple and an inner city fashion accessory on playgrounds, public basketball courts, and during streetball games nationwide.

The “Natural Support” cushioned insole is launched in 1951 after Keds teamed up with Frank Leahy and a revolution in shoe construction starts.

In the 1960s Keds is the “in” shoe of all time when icons like Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Katharine Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy Onassis are spotted wearing the shoe on screen and off. Suddenly, every woman in America wants a pair of Keds and the casual wardrobe becomes acceptable. It becomes common for more and more women to wear pants – with a pair of Keds, of course.

The 1970s was the decade for the men when basketball greats Jojo White, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Nate Archibald choose PRO-Keds for their on-court shoes. Now men are making the shoe part of their everyday wear. It becomes the shoe of the decade when the ‘Royal Master,’ worn by “Pistol” Pete Maravich, Jojo White, and Nate “Tiny Archibald” start endorsing the now-iconic sneakers. It’s also become a key shoe on New York City playgrounds.

Kristin Stewart as "Bella" in the popular Twilight Series. Bella always wears her Keds.

It continues on in the 1980s as the “it” shoe to be worn with shorts, skirts, leggings, and slouch socks. Constantly seen on popular TV shows like Happy Days, Saved by the Bell, Full House, Step by Step, and 7th Heaven, Keds’ popularity spreads beyond America and takes over the rest of the world. Now consumers of all ages, men, women, and children think of Keds as a ‘must-have.’ When the iconic Sugar Ray Leonard becomes the spokesperson for PRO-Keds in 1981, its status as the coolest shoe of all time is cemented into pop culture.

The 1990s were a rather slow year for Keds because of a backlash against the 80s “me generation” until 1997 when Haute Couture met aging icon. Todd Oldham and Lily Pulitzer add designer flair to limited-edition Keds shoes and the shoes are “in” once more.

The current decade saw Keds becoming mainstream yet again. In 2004, Keds went Pink when it teamed up with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and became known as shoes with conscience. Mischa Barton became the face of Keds on the “be cool” ad campaign the very next year and the iconic sneakers struck a chord with Generation Y.

2006 was the year classic went rock and roll when Keds partnered with poster designer Eleanor Grosche to create shoes that rock where you walk. To celebrate that rock and roll vibe, Keds sponsored the Aussie music group “The Veronicas” to cement the tie with the MTV generation.

January 2010's Century Collection release: the "Take Flight" Champion sneaker.

In the next 3 years, Keds collaborated with Nanette Lepore to create a fun, flirty line of women’s Keds and that also kicked off Keds Studio which allows you to design Keds that belong to you alone with a choice of colors, graphics, photos, and text! Then, leading fashion store Jeffrey NY collaborated with Keds to make them the shoe to have once more. The next project, Keds Green, featured organic cotton shoes with recycled leather soles and shoelaces and non-toxic inks and dyes.

All this was in preparation for 2010, when Keds celebrates with the Century Collection by releasing a shoe inspired by the history and fashion of each decade. The 1910 “Take Flight” leather and washed sateen sneaker that was released in January totally gives a turn of the century, new Industrial Revolution feel.

Now an American icon reborn, Keds inspires a new spirit, showing off American style and its youthful optimism, the pull to collaborate, and the call to togetherness. Keds is definitely the shoe for the next generation.

Purchase your own pair of Keds right now!

The Nike Hyperize is now taking a runway to its extending release capturing another NBA star in the name of Andre Iguodala. This 76ers shooting guard marks a pair of player exclusive sneaker, the Nike Hyperize. If we recall, this model is one of the freshest amongst Nike’s technology-equipped silhouettes. Aside from a modernized ventilated upper with LunarLite foam cushions, it also has lightweight Flywire that wraps the foot in high strength support for superior lateral cuts and quickness. The herringbone outsole provides exceptional traction.

Iguodala’s colorway consists of white toe box, white flywire panel with red flywire threading, white Swoosh with white outline, white mesh tongue, red shoe laces, red Andre Iguodala initials, white inner liner, white midsole, and red outsole. Black marker was used by Iguodala to sign the toe box.

Inline with Iguodala’s Hyperize PE, his first music video also launched with the hit single, “Don’t Criticize”. Hmmm, seems like he is being defensive since he has been criticized for being inefficient with possessions because his PER (Player Efficiency Rating) has never been above 19.

Will the signature make this Hyperize pair more significant than the others?

Many of the most popular designs of Nike especially the Air Jordan series were all designed by a great designer by the name of Tinker Hatfield. It was just recently when he worked on some designs for Air Jordan 2010, in particular the Alpha 1. It has colors of white, orange and black that has very smooth finished of a sneaker that has a neutral theme. It has white uppers coming up with very heavy perforations right on the toe box and the midfoot section. The jumpman logo is seen on the hell and the tongue.

So what is new with these shoes, you may ask. It is apparently the orange liner that extends out to the collar that is made out mesh like material. This bright color makes the plain set up a lot more interesting and appealing to most sneaker fanatics. It sits on a black outsole with some orange stitching on the liner.

If 2010 finishes, and you still have not seen any of the Jay and Silent Bob movies of the Clerks, then there could be really something wrong with your movie knowledge or collection. Kevin Smith is a genuine comic genius even if he does things completely in silent mode all throughout the Jay and Silent Bob’s crazy adventures. Well here is what is more interesting to learn. Kevin Smith is also a sneaker fanatic and collector as well. Recently, he has collaborated with the Etnies to come up with a new pair that we will take a closer look at today. This is called the brand new Etnies Jamison 2 Clerks Edition.

More often than not, rappers are sneakerheads. This statement is true based on what we have spotted previously, that rappers wear sneakers during their concerts. Perhaps this would be the most comfortable footwear on stage since rappers are known to be very energetic and active. In addition to our celebrity list, here is Fat Joe bringing on a pair of Nike Air Foamposite One in Copper colorway during his live performance at S.O.B.’s under the sponsorship of Hot 97 and Intrigue Liqueurs.

Fat Joe chose the Nike Air Foamposite One for its unique style and comfort. This distinct shoe uses Foamposite upper, polyurethane midsole, Nike Zoom unit in heel for low-profile, super-responsive cushioning, and rubber outsole for traction and durability. With this Copper pair, Fat Joe matched black crew shirt and Levis blue jeans.

At the concert was a crowd of other sneakerheads and Joe’s fellow rappers such as DJ Clark Kent, Cassidy, Redman, Buckshot, DJ Premier, and more. On the other side of the stage was Hot 97′s Peter Rosenberg in a pair of Air Jordan Spizike.

Are you a New Yorker and at the same time a great sneaker fan? Well here is some good news for you especially if you are from five boroughs. Nike came up with an all exclusive Nike Air Force 1 that inspires each New York municipal corporation. Some of these cities would be the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and of course the Staten Island. The first one that Nike gave its attention to was the Bronx.

Some of these cities would be the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and of course the Staten Island. The first one that Nike gave its attention to was the Bronx.

This pair has colors and textures that represent well the Bronx. It wears some varsity blue that is in wool like material for its uppers. It has white tumbled leather for its toe box and its side panels. Its swoosh on the other hand has carpet like chenille Swoosh. It has red satin material that makes up the inner lining while its trimmings are done in red. It has a special The BX logo on its heel area.

Yes, it is saddening to know that this version will just be an unreleased sample. But you surely think it has all the nice features, right? It has predominant olive uppers sitting on top of brown sole and features some volt accents throughout the rest of the uppers.

The final part of the WBF Five Boroughs Pack is here to put a mark and boast the Staten Island. We have seen all four colorways designed by DJ Clark Kent, one for each borough and they seemed to be well accepted and admired, with each possessing remarkable feature. As the last pair, sneakerheads have anticipated for this, the Air Force 1 for Staten Island.

Receiving one good color scheme, this Staten Island version uses a mixture of navy blue, orange, and white. The same setup was applied – white tumbled leather on the toe box and side panels, navy blue wool-like material on the remainder, and orange carpet-like Swoosh. Similar to the Swoosh, the inner liner and trimmings also come in orange. The white midsole also sports orange visible stitching so to come up with balance and contrast. The insole reveals a geometric design that spells out Staten Island.

This pair ends the most sensational pack that everyone wishes to have. DJ Clark Kent deserves commendation for his efforts in molding all five kicks. On July 31, 2010, the Five Boroughs Pack will be released with each pair costing $135.
