A house full of kids is a difficult situation to control. Kids party ideas are priceless in entertaining children for hours. With anything and everything from team games to treasure hunts, bouncy castles and pin the tail on the donkey. Here you will find a substantial list of ideas guaranteed to keep the kids entertained.
Treasure Hunt
Kids love sweets and presents. They also love games. Therefore combining the two always proves to be a great success with children of various ages. Solving problems along the way and discovering new clues will hold their attention and the thrill of receiving a prize at the end. You can always adapt the game with time limits and teams to make it more interesting.
Pin the Tail on the Donkey
Pin the tail on the donkey is a classic game thats easy to understand and fun to watch as well as play. Watch the children all squeal with delight as they watch their friends grow ever closer to pinning the tail on the donkey! Whoever gets closest should be rewarded some how, usually in the form of prizes or sweets. This makes the game more exciting and gives an incentive for the kids to all join in. The games can be made yourself with some cardboard and some crayons, however you can buy the sets at newsagents, supermarkets and of course at party supplies shops!
The Chocolate Game
Another fantastic game for kids, but should probably be more appropriate for kids at about 5 or 6, when they\'re starting to understand dice, and numbers a bit better.
What you\'re going to need:
* A block of chocolate. Plain Cadbury is usually the best.
* One die
* A plastic knife and fork. (Avoid real cutlery, to avoid real accidents, if the children are a bit older and can be trusted with stronger cutlery, then by all means use a real knife and fork).
* Some dress ups. Usually about 4 items, try finding an old hat, a tshirt, some shorts and some socks. The sillier the garment, the funnier it tends to be for the kids.
Encourage the kids to sit in a circle, then place the dress ups in the middle, as well as the block of chocolate on a plate with the plastic knife and fork.
The rules are:
* The number 6 is a magic number. The die gets passed around in a clockwise position, each child rolling the die once. If they get the number 6, they then have to jump up and put on all the dress ups, and start cutting away and eating the chocolate with the knife and fork. They can't use their hands, and must keep using the cutlery!
* They can't start cutting again until they've finished the piece of chocolate they've already eaten. They are able to keep eating the chocolate until the next person rolls a 6.
* Then, they must quickly take off all their dress ups and hand them to the next person to dress up in.
* The game keeps on going until the chocolate is gone. Just by odds alone, there isn't going to be a vast amount of chocolate consumed by the kids, especially if there are 6 or more participants within the game.

Terrance’s mother, Latanya, explained that Terrance (age constantly asks if he can go to someone’s house to play. “He knows the rule is that he needs to finish his homework before he can go anywhere, but it is still the first question he asks every day when he gets off the school bus. It drives me crazy because it seems to be the most important thing in his life, even though schoolwork should be!”

Most elementary-school-age children love to be social, and the older they get, the more social they become. By the upper elementary grades, it seems to be what drives them. Why is this, and how much should you let it control your child’s life? Keep reading and you’ll find out.

Uncovering the Meaning

As children mature into the upper elementary grades, their social needs become more complex. No longer are they satisfied playing with their friends only in school or in a group on the playground. Instead, they want to be able to deepen their friendships by spending time with other children one-on-one or in small groups.

As a general rule, this is somewhat truer for girls than it is for boys. However, older-elementary-age boys also begin asking to spend exclusive time with peers, rather than wanting only to be in large groups playing ball or running around.

In addition to wanting to form more meaningful relationships, children in the older elementary grades also begin to form friendship cliques—yes, the kind that are typically exclusive and often not especially friendly toward outside members. Although girls get the bad reputation when it comes to these cliques, they are not reserved for girls. I have seen boys left out of cliques—many of which are formed around sports prowess, knowledge of a TV show, or even an ability to play chess.

In addition to the clique, your upper-elementary-age child may also begin to explore the idea of having a “best
friend” or several very close friends, either within a clique or instead of being in one. The capacity to begin bonding intimately in this way is, once again, more common with girls, but not unusual for boys. One tenyear- old girl told me that she has “bestest friends, best friends, and good friends.”

Wanting to play intimately with a close friend (or small group of friends) or have a sleepover can serve many purposes. It is a way to solidify a clique, and also to affirm its exclusivity. As a parent you may not like the idea of your child being in a clique, but as long as the children in your child’s clique are not hurting anyone else’s feelings, bullying, teasing, being mean to, or belittling anyone, they are entitled to be friends with whomever they choose. In addition, playdates and sleepovers help create and affirm the bonds of best friends. They are a time for secrets and memories, for special codes and fabulous stories. They are not to be missed.

But what if they seem to be taking over?

The Best Way to Respond

Despite the fact that playing with friends is certainly valuable for your child’s emotional development, it should have its time and place.

By all means, homework, activities, and chores should always come first. In fact if your child asks this question, relentlessly, every single day, you need to have a clear unwavering rule that there is no socializing until absolutely everything else is done first. If your child keeps asking, you may need to change the rule so that there is no socializing at all during the week. Explain that you changed the rule because he didn’t stop nagging and that you might consider changing it back to “no socializing until homework is done” in a couple of months if he does well this way.

In addition, it is important to set up a few guidelines for playdates and sleepovers. This will help you keep control of your child’s social life. Beginning to do this now is important, because it will be harder to start when your child is a preteen or teenager. Make an effort to set these guidelines now with your child.

• “You need to ask me if you can make a plan with a friend, not tell me you have already arranged it. It needs to be convenient for my schedule.”

• “You can only have a playdate/sleepover with a friend after I’ve confirmed it with his parent.”

• “You can have a playdate/sleepover only at homes where I feel comfortable having you go; otherwise your friend needs to come to our house.”

• “If you give me a hard time ending a playdate (whining, crying, nagging for more time), I will not let you have playdates in the future.”

Firefighter Down the pole puppet party

FOR EACH PUPPET YOU WILL NEED:

cardboard paper-towel tube

aluminum foil

red yarn

white construction paper

TOOLS: markers, white glue, scissors

1 – Make one sample puppet ahead o f time so that everyone can see how it is made. Cover the tube with foil. Tuck the excess foil inside the ends o f the tube. This is the fire pole.

2 – Cut a 2-foot (60-cm) length of yarn. String one end through the tube and tie the two ends together.

3 – Fold a piece o f white construction paper in half. Draw a firefighter on one side o f the white paper close t o the fold. Cut out the firefighter without cutting along the fold.

4 – Wrap the fold o f the paper around the yarn on the pole. Glue the two sides of the folded paper together. When the glue dries, you can pull the yarn t o slide the firefighter up and down the pole.

Three Bears Party Table Decorations

Cover the table with a bright-green paper tablecloth. Cut out constructionpaper flowers and decorate the tablecloth by attaching them with masking tape. Use red partyware plates and cups, decorated with flower stickers.
Cut round bear ears from brown construction paper and tape two on the top back of each guest’s paper plate. Set the plates face down so that guests can draw their own bear face.
Ifyo u are using plastic partyware that is colored on both sides, put a white paper plate with ears on top o f the plastic one for your guests t o draw on.
Hang blue party streamers from the ceiling t o make a sky.
On the day of your party, use permanent markers t o draw stripes and faces on round yellow balloons. (Make the face of the bee on the bottom of the balloon.) Cut wings from wax paper and tape them on the bees’ backs. Tape a piece of string between the wings.
Hang several bees from the ceiling among the blue streamers.

FOR EACH PARTY HAT YOU WILL NEED:
brown construction paper
wax paper
yellow paper scrap
two black and one yellow 6-inch (15-cm) pipe cleaners

TOOLS: scissors, white glue, cellophane tape, marker, hole punch
1 - Cut a 2-inch (5-cm)-wide strip from brown paper, long enough t o fit around your head. (You may need t o tape two pieces together t o make the strip long
enough.) Tape the ends together t o make a headband.
2 - Cut two round bear ears from the brown paper and glue them on each side o f the front of the band.
3 - To make a bee t o fly above the bear hat, hold a black and a yellow pipe cleaner together. Wrap the pipe cleaners around your finger t o form a bee body and slide them off your finger.
4 - Slip the end of the other black pipe cleaner through the bottom of the bee and
bend the end t o attach it. Tape the other end of the pipe cleaner behind one
o f the bear ears, so that it looks like the bee is buzzing around.
5 - Punch eyes from yellow paper and draw a black dot in the middle of each one.
Glue the eyes t o one end of the bee. Cut wings from wax paper and tuck them
between the two pipe cleaners at the top of the bee. Hold the wings in place
with a dab of glue.

Tennis Ball Puppet Game

You can use the tennis ball puppet t o play a game. Spread lots o f unpopped popcorn kernels on a large tray or table. Have everyone playing the game gather around the popcorn kernels with A their own puppets. When the grown-up who is helping with your party says “Go,” everyone uses their puppets t o t r y t o pick up as many popcorn kernels as possible. This can be tricky. The first mouthful goes into the puppet very easily, but as you t r y t o pick up more, the kernels already in the puppet tend t o fall out. After one minute, the adult says “Stop,” and the guest who has the puppet with the most kernels in it is the winner

Bag Puppet Party Favor

FOR EACH FAVOR YOU WILL NEED:

lunch bag
construction paper in bright colors
yarn in bright colors
TOOLS: scissors, white glue, hole punch

1. Fold a piece o f construction paper and cut a mouth t o fit in the fold at the bottom of the bag, making it as wide as the bag. Glue the mouth in the fold.

2. Cut eyes from construction paper and glue them on the bag bottom above the mouth.

3. Cut snips of brightly colored yarn. Glue the Y yarn around the eyes for hair.

4. Cut buttons, bows, or whatever you want t o decorate the body of the puppet. Glue them in place.

5. Fill the bag puppet with candy and prizes. Fold back both layers of the opening o f the bag. Punch a hole in the folded edge and run a piece of yarn through the hole. Tie the yarn in a bow t o hold the bag closed.

Make these puppets using lots o f different colors so your table will look wonderful.

FOR EACH INVITATION YOU WILL NEED:
envelope
straw
pink, blue, and red construction paper
craft feather
TOOLS: markers, scissors, glue

1- Seal the envelope. Cut one short side open. Cut a small triangular piece out of the center o f the opposite side.
The puppet will pop out o f the open side.

2- To make the puppet’s body, cut two blue paper triangles, about half as long as the envelope, but not as wide. Cut hands and a round head from pink paper.
Cut a red triangle-shaped hat.

3- Put the end of the straw between the triangles and glue them together. Slide one of the puppet’s hands between the triangles on each side. Glue on the head and the hat. Glue a craft feather t o the hat. Let the puppet dry.

4- Draw a face on the puppet with markers. On the envelope, write, “Come t o a Puppet Birthday Party for…and your name. On the body of the puppet, write when and where the party will be held. Also write RSVP (which means “please respond”) and your phone number.

5- Slide the puppet into the envelope so that the straw sticks out the bottom hole. To pop the puppet out of the envelope, push the straw up.

Rainbow Puppet Party Craft

red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple construction paper one half of a 9-inch (23-cm) paper plate Popsicle stick
TOOLS: scissors, cellophane tape, white glue, markers

1- Cut the paper plates in half so that you

‘ have half a plate f o r each guest.
2- For each puppet, cut a strip of paper, 1 by 9 inches (2.5 X 23 cm), from each o f the six colors of construction paper.
3- Make one sample puppet ahead of time so that everyone can see how it is made. Fold the two sides of the paper plate together t o form a pie-wedge shape.
4- Glue the ends of the strips of paper inside the wide end of the plate. Press the front and back of the folded plate together t o glue the strips in place. The colorful strips are the puppet’s rainbow-colored hair.
5- Slide the Popsicle stick inside the t i p of the folded plate. Tape the stick t o the plate t o hold it in place. Tape the edges of the folded plate together t o keep it closed.
6- Draw a face with markers on the front of the puppet.

Party Invitations

Reverse writing is the way to invite guests to a backwards party, and the best thing is – it’s easy to do! Use a soft pencil to write your party invitation on a sheet of tracing paper. Then, turn the sheet over, and lay it onto a piece of white A4 paper, and trace over the lettering again. Remove the tracing paper, and the soft pencil should have left a faint, backwards outline on the sheet below it. Go over this outline with a felt

tip pen and your writing is reversed! To read their invites, your guests will have to hold the paper up to a mirror!

Party Decoration

Turn your party room inside out, back to front and upside down! Anything you can alter so that it looks the wrong way will give the right impression! Turn chairs around so that they face the wall. Take photographs of the backs of your family’s heads, and put them in frames around the room. Instead of ornaments, stand bottles of ketchup, and salt & pepper shakers along the mantelpiece, and why not copy the spines of your books onto a sheet of card and tape it over the TV screen?

This is where you can really let your imagination run riot – the sillier, the better!

Party Costumes

On your backwards invites, tell guests to come to the party dressed the wrong way around! They can wear their shirts and trousers back to front, twist a baseball cap so that it’s facing the wrong way, and even make cardboard shoes to tie to their heels! How many other backwards clothing ideas can you think of? Glasses on the back of your head? Gloves on your feet? Or even underwear on the outside?

Superman would fit right in!

Party Games

Even the party games run the wrong way at this party! Award points before you start each activity, and take them away from the winners at the end!

BACKTRACKIN’. You’ll need access to a turntable to create the music for this game or, if you have a CD player with a line-out function, you could load the songs onto your computer, and use Windows Sound Recorder to change it around.

Split your guests into two teams, and give each group a pen and piece of paper. Now, play snippets of pop songs which are running backwards, and see if the players can guess what they are.

Give clues to each song title by showing pictures of the artist, or giving your guests a choice of three possibilities.

After each back to front song, give the kids a few seconds to confer, then write down their answer.

They’ll be tapping their hands and clicking their toes!

REVERSE! A wrong way around game filled to the brim with giggles! Make a set of cards that give everyday tasks, such as eating breakfast, getting up, or ironing clothes.

Choose one player at a time, show them a card at random, and they then have one minute to act out the activity – backwards!

For example, if they were getting up, they could start by pretending to get undressed, dirty their teeth, put on their pyjamas, climb into bed, and fall asleep.

The other players would then have to guess what the activity was supposed to be! Keep playing until everyone has tried their hand at a mixed up mime.

For even more fun, add two person activities such as delivering a wardrobe, or buying a box of cornflakes.

Barmy and backwards!

WRAP THE PARCEL. I tend to steer clear of traditional party games, as kids have played them over and over again – but this was too good to miss!

Players sit in a circle, with one kid holding a prize. In the centre of the circle lie several sheets of wrapping paper.

When the game starts, the guests pass the prize around from one person to the next in complete silence. After a while, play a music CD – this is the cue for the person currently holding the prize to grab a sheet of paper, and wrap the gift inside it! Stop the music, and the partially wrapped prize is passed around the circle again!

Keep playing until all of the wrapping paper has been used up. The winner is the person to add the final sheet. They get to keep the prize – and all the paper!

Party Food

Can food be backwards? Eating the wrong way around sounds like a messy business – but try these twisted treats that’ll have your guests rubbing their backs with satisfaction!

SILLY SANDWICHES! Why not serve sandwiches with the fillings on the outside?

Put a piece of bread in between two slices of ham, or slide a cracker into the middle of a couple of cheese slices!

This is one party where jam sandwiches would be best forgotten!

CRAZY CUTLERY. Not so much a food idea, but a way to serve it! Try eating idiotic ice cream with a knife and fork, or hand out glasses of cake for your guests to enjoy!

Party Bags

As the party comes to an end (or should that be a start?), hand out party bags with the gifts on the outside!

Tape pens, pencils and toys to the outside of your gift bags, and leave the inside completely empty.

Small kids can jump and hop in these type of play houses and this gives them immense pleasure. You can find bounce houses of different sizes and you can choose one for yourself according to your party space. Choose the theme of the bounce house according to your child’s wish. Different suitable themes are available for both boys and girls. When you want to take bounce rentals for your party then you must set up the location accordingly. The location should be relatively flat and also it should be large enough to accommodate the bounce houses and water slides. The space should be clear of trees and electric wires. If you want to celebrate your party in the public area or park then you need a generator for providing electric power. Adult inspection is very important when the kids are having fun in the bounce houses. Also it is very important to choose the right material for the bounce houses. Besides that every care must be taken to setup the bounce houses safely.

Santa turned Tarzan. He has to learn the ways of the
jungle in order to deliever all the presents to the jungle dwellers. He has hired a whole new cast of helpers. But watch out, these helpers are still on the job training and kids' presents may just get mixed up this year. (Very Funny).

Bay Area Professional Kids Party Entertainer

Jungle Joe was featured on a the Korean KBS television station. The TV crew followed California Puppets onto several sites. The crew filmed the California Puppet workshop and a couple of San Francisco Bay Area kids event Parties. The clown fish puppet held by the TV host was made by California Puppets as well. The child that was interviewed on the tape was from a kids birthday party entertainment in San Jose CA. Jungle Joe was also featured on a TV program aired in North Africa during his Visit to Africa tour. The tour was sponsored by the charitable organization "Sourire d'Espoir". Translated to mean Smiles of Hope, the tour was to benefit undeserved kids stricken with cancer and other chronic diseases. Please check often for new videos and photos of the tour to be posted.
