Whitney Houston was under water and apparently unconscious when she was found in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub, police said Monday, as the singer’s family prepared to send her body to her native New Jersey for a funeral.

The singer was found Saturday by a member of her personal staff at approximately 3:30 p.m. She was pulled from the tub by members of her staff, and hotel security was promptly notified, Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen said.

Further details of Houston’s death are not being released to preserve the integrity of the investigation, he said.

“As of right now, it’s not a criminal investigation,” Rosen told a news conference. “We have concluded our portion of the investigation at the hotel.”

Rosen said it was a coroner’s case and police were awaiting the determination of the cause of death. The coroner’s office says toxicology testing is continuing.

There were no indications of foul play and no obvious signs of trauma on Houston’s body, but officials were not ruling out any causes of death until they have toxicology results, which will likely take weeks to obtain.

‘Happy Grad’ is an amazing commercial that has fast become a Superbowl favorite, all from Chevrolet’s online competition.

Commercial summary: A new grad is blindfolded and his parents have bought him a mini fridge for college. However, behind the mini fridge is the neighbor’s new bright yellow Chevy Camaro, which the grad thinks is his actual present. Hilarity ensues; He freaks out, calls his friends, asks his girlfriend to marry him without realizing that the car is not his, while the parents look not knowing what to say. At the end, the actual owner and there next door neighbor drives off and the happy grad thinks his car has been stolen.

The spot was done by Zack Borst who submitted it in Chevrolet’s Route66 online competition. After Borst beat out hundreds of submissions from filmmakers in 32 countries, he won the right to have his spot shown to over 100 million people watching the Super Bowl ad; which is a nice way of showing a very creative spot on a shoestring budget.

BOTTLES, METAL PIPE: Occupy Oakland Riots.

“Officers were pelted with bottles, metal pipe, rocks, spray cans, improvised explosive devices and burning flares,” the Oakland Police Department said in a statement. “The Oakland Police Department deployed smoke, tear gas and beanbag projectiles in response to this activity.”

Oakland Mayor Jean Quan accused a “violent splinter group” of the Occupy movement of fomenting the Saturday protests and using the city as its playground. Protesters have accused the city of overreacting and using heavy handed tactics.

By early evening on Sunday, about 80 to 100 protesters were gathered in the plaza next to Oakland City Hall, but there was no police presence and the park was peaceful.

Oakland Police warned protesters that they would not tolerate a repeat of the protest actions on Saturday.

Tension also flared on Sunday in Washington where police used a taser on an Occupy protester during an arrest at a park near the White House, U.S. Park police said.

The National Park Service has said it will begin enforcing a ban on Occupy protesters camping overnight in McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza, two parks near the White House where they have been living since October.

That order, if carried out as promised starting at noon on Monday, could be a blow to one of the highest-profile chapters of the movement.

There are fears of more riots in the coming future with such technologies as ‘Twitter’ leading the way to “flash riots.” Occupy has now become more than a movement throughout America and the World. Great fears of further violence has put police on guard throughout the country worrying to see if Oakland is going to start a “riot mob mentality” or if this was just an isolated outcome to a supposed peaceful rally. Occupy 99% is growing steadily throughout the country and will reach “‘alarming proportions by summer 2012.”

As part of her Saturday Morning Mash-Up series, passionately innovative conductor Rachael Worby, Artistic Director of MUSE/IQUE, offers a kid-friendly version of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf in which classical music becomes cool. Add in special guest narrators – Golden Globe winning actress Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me, Hot In Cleveland) and Dan Lauria (The Wonder Years, ED, JAG) – and they will leave you and your family gasping (and texting) for joy. Before you know it, the line between orchestra and audience disappears. Performances take place at 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM on November 5, 2011.

Worby, who spends more than half the performance off the stage directly engaging the kids and families, brings her lifelong passions for people and music to the experience of the Saturday Morning Mash-Ups. As Artistic Director of MUSE/IQUE, Worby is renowned for mixing high culture with casual whimsy. She has engaged writer Matt Nix to create the text for a group of actors, including Malick and Lauria, who will each be paired with an instrument. Additional cast members are David Fickas, Kiele Sanchez, Amy Acker, Jay Karnas and Bradley Whitford as…the wolf!

Nix is an American writer, producer and director best known for creating and executive producing the USA Network television series Burn Notice, now entering its sixth season, and the cult-favorite comedy The Good Guys.

Breaking Bad Season 4 ended with a Bang! “Face Off,” a double entendre if ever there were one, followed Walter’s (Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul) showdown with with rival meth distributors and included the literal face-melting of gangster Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito).

The Hollywood Reporter’s chief TV critic Tim Goodman was on board with the episode, calling it a “compelling, fulfilling restart button for the last 16 episodes.”

He was less impressed with the dramatic reveal of Gus’ gory demise. “That wasn’t the shocker it may have been – I just saw it coming. And I loved the execution of it right until Gus walked out of the room like Terminator – face off! — when the bomb exploded,” he writes. “I thought that was a little too much, honestly.”

Slate‘s Jessica Grose shares Goodman’s lack of surprise with the dispatching of Gus.

“Though this episode delivered when it came to quality, it was the first episode in recent memory where I didn’t feel like every move was unpredictable,” she writes. “I didn’t think Gus would survive the season finale, and he didn’t — though I was impressed with the plotting around Gus’ murder.”

CNN‘s Carl Williott had few objects to the finale, praising the show for the suspense it held onto throughout Season 4, besting some of the previous outings.

“This run, more than the others, favored finesse over fireworks. The meticulous structure led to a gradual swell of tension that crept up like flood waters. By the end of last night’s episode, the water was up to chin level. And in a matter of minutes, it all receded. Sweet relief,” he writes.

Trying to draw parallels for fans not intimately acquainted with the series, several critics pointed to two iconic HBO shows.

Paste writer Brent Koepp sees a similarity to the structure and storytelling of The Wire.

“In a lot of ways, I see a lot of similarities between Breaking Bad and The Wire, the latter being a show that didn’t hammer its audience over the head constantly with flashy moments, but instead expected the audience to be patient and see what all the plot threads and groundwork were building up to,” he writes.

While New York Magazine writer Logan Hill makes a bolder statement: “Was The Sopranos really ever any better than this show? I’d say no.”

TVGuide critic Matt Roush makes no such comparisons, but does seem to qualify Breaking Bad as a stand-out among TV series.

“This episode — written and directed by Vince Gilligan with a superior blend of suspense and pitch-black humor — is a textbook example of how to provide resolution for a spectacular season while leaving us anxiously wondering ‘what next?’ ” he writes.

What’s next will come some time in 2012, when AMC begins to roll out the final 16 episodes. Share

Kiele Sanchez

Two kids are dredging a canal for treasure. So far they’ve managed to come up with a bunch of junk and a bike. One of the boys decides to go for it again and manages to snag something heavy. Neither one is prepared for what they come up with, a dead guy.

At the station Jim examines the lab schedule as Colleen approached. She tells him that Callie is not working this week. Jim claims that wasn’t what he was looking for. Colleen tells him about the two kids that pulled the dead body out of the lake and that it has his name written all over it. She however will be escorting a prisoner to Hillsboro County Detention down in Tampa. Some guy who broke parole with a disturbing the peace and now has to return to prison to finish out twelve months from his grand theft auto conviction. She will be going with FDLE agent Dan Ranson, a Florida State linebacker with the second most career tackles ever. Colleen and Dan lead the prisoner away.

At the canal Daniel and Jim approach the body. They meet Carlos who tells them that the tag on the body’s uniform identifies him as William Sullivan. He has a patch that says security guard but not where from. The victim was hit in the front right temple. It appears the murder weapon was some sort of tool approximately an inch in diameter.

At the hospital Callie takes care of Mr. Kendrick. As she walks away Ben approaches her and tells her that he heard from the board of Atlanta memorial that she hasn’t called yet about the nursing job. She tells him she has been busy. Ben says the job is hers if she wants it but she has to show up for the interview tomorrow morning at 8:00am. He gives her a ticket and tells her that her place leaves tonight. She takes the ticket and tells him that she will be there.

Jim calls Colleen from the station and tells her that it turns out the victim was actually killed at the scene not just dropped there. They found blood and his wallet with money and credit cards still in it.

In the car Colleen and Dan chit chat as the prisoner complains that he is really not feeling well. Dan assures him that they will be there in no time.

At the lab Carlos gets Jim up to speed. There were no defensive wounds but there was skin under his fingernails. They have the killers DNA. The victim was wearing a lanyard around his neck with an ID badge in it. Daniel confirms and tells them that the victim worked at Palm Glade Regional hospital, Callie’s hospital. Jim heads over right away.

Jim tells Callie about Billy Sullivan. She tells him that it’s possible an addict could have killed him for his access card. As they’re talking Colleen approaches. She tells them that the prisoner she was transporting started seizing right as they were driving by the hospital. Callie tells her that they don’t have a prison ward. Colleen says that if a prisoner has a medical emergency in transit they are required to stop at the nearest hospital. Jim looks at the empty access badge holder he is holding. What if someone stole Billy’s badge so they could break out not break in? Colleen and Jim rush to CAT scan where the Greg is. They find Dan getting up from the floor. He tells them that they took his cell phone so he couldn’t call. They? Greg and some other guy. They took his gun.

Jim goes and visits the security guard office. He scans through the cameras trying to locate Greg. The guard on duty tells him that the only place in the hospital is the loading docks but you need an access badge to get out. Jim tells him that they have Billy’s badge. The security guard tells him that this isn’t a problem; once they are notified of someone’s death their card is immediately deactivated. Longworth asks him to reactivate it. He wants a manhunt not a lockdown.

Jim finds Greg and his accomplice at the doors to the loading docks. The access card is not working. Jim tells them to try it again. They think it’s a trick but he assures them that he wants them to get out. They try the card again and this time it works. They push the doors open an there are two uniformed officers waiting for them on the other side. They run to the left down a hallway pushing people out of the way as they go. Greg grabs a hostage as they go and pulls her into the emergency area of the hospital. He tells Jim that if anyone comes in she gets it. Greg’s brother, Vince, shuts the doors.

The swat team arrives at the hospital. Everybody is in a frenzy trying to figure out what is going on and make sure everyone is safe. Dan shows Colleen and Jim the feed from two security cameras inside the ER. He tells them that he counts 13 hostages. Daniel arrives with copies of both Greg and Vince’s records. Colleen sends Jim in to negotiate. On his way over to the ER Carlos calls him and confirms that it was Vince’s fingerprints on the hammer that was used to kill Billy Sullivan. Carlos tells him that Vince is a construction worker with a history of assault. He also tells him that Sullivan has a history of brushes with violence too. Entrance only bullet wound in his shoulder. He is going to dig out the bullet and see what he can find. Jim asks him to call Daniel and have him look for a connection between Sullivan and the Wheelers’.

Jim approaches the ER doors and is able to negotiate 5 hostages by promising a helicopter and $50,000 to Greg. Callie is disappointed when she sees that Phil Kendrick was not one of the hostages released. She tells Jim that the stress alone could induce a heart attack. He sends Callie to keep an eye on the monitors to keep tabs on him.

As Jim is talking to an officer he over hears Ben on the phone saying that yes, this is going to delay the closing but that is not his concern right now.

Colleen and Jim inspect the monitors. All of the hostages are now dressed in scrubs. They watch as Greg removes his prison top and Jim notices a tattoo that says junior across his chest. He calls Daniel and tells him to find out who junior is. Dan approaches and begins speaking to Colleen. She tells him that he can still make his son’s game. Dan seems disoriented and begins having a hard speaking. Jim and Colleen sit him down in a chair. Jim calls Callie over and as she is asking Dan if he is ok he attempts to get up and walk away but falls in the process. Callie tells them it’s bad.

Ben and Callie begin loading Dan into an ambulance for transport to another hospital 45 minutes away. As they do he begins seizing. He won’t make it if they don’t operate immediately. Jim is against Callie going into the ER but she insists that she is going in. They approach the ER doors. Jim convinces Greg and Vince to let them take Dan to the elevators. As they are loading him into the elevator Callie sees Phil through the window and it looks like he is in distress. She runs back and goes into the ER. Jim watches in horror from the monitors outside. She tells them that he has a heart condition and that he will have a heart attack if they don’t do something. Vince is against it but Greg lets Callie in. She rushes to Phil and begins assessing him.

As Jim watches on the monitors Carlos calls and tells Jim that Billy Sullivan got his gunshot wound when he was an armored car driver. He was involved in a hold up where his partner was killed and the robbers got away with $500,000. As they are talking the news comes on and announces that they have just gotten word that FDLE agent Dan Ranson was pronounced dead after attempts to save his life failed. They are all distraught that this got out to the media the way it did.

Phil continues to get worse and Callie tells Greg and Vince that she can’t do anything else for him. She has to get him out now. Colleen and Jim watch on the monitor. Realizing what is going on Jim runs over to the ER doors. Callie tells them that he needs an emergency angioplasty and stint put in and she can’t do that here. He will die. Jim runs up to the door. He convinces them to let her leave with Phil. Just as she is walking out the door Vince receives the report that Agent Ransom is dead. He grabs Callie and pulls her back into the ER. Greg tells Jim that she is staying in there with them.

In ER Vince asks Callie about her and Jim. She tells him that he is no her friend, cops and law enforcement are in the hospital all the time. He taunts her by asking who Jeff is and showing her a note that fell out of her pocket.

Colleen and Jim discuss what going on and she can’t understand why they went through all this trouble to avoid a one year sentence at a minimum security prison when with everything going on they are now facing death row. Jim tells Colleen they are going to help them escape. There must be something that’s worth it to them to go through all this trouble and they are going to find out what that is. Daniel calls and tells Jim that junior refers to Greg and Vince’s uncle who eventually took them in. He has a small cattle ranch outside of town but passed away four months ago. Jim thinks that Billy and Uncle Junior’s deaths were so close together they might be connected.

Carlos arrives at the hospital. He tells Jim that the armored car robbery has been a cold case for 5 years but that the primary suspects were Greg and Vince Wheeler. There were some suspicions about Sullivan being an inside man but without the money there was no way to prove it. As they are talking about different possibilities the helicopter arrives and lands on the roof of the hospital. Colleen gives the $50,000 to Jim to deliver. Jim hands the money over but only after warning them that if they harm one hair on Callie’s head, he will hunt them down like dogs and kill them.

Greg and Vince make their way to the chopper and bring Callie with them. As Jim and Colleen watch the helicopter fly away Ben runs up and asks them how they could have let Callie be taken hostage. Jim and he have a mini face off. Jim tells him not to worry it’s like Colleen said, they’ll get her back. Ben watches as he walks away.

Jim tells Colleen that if his hunch is correct they already have Callie back.

The helicopter lands in the swamps. Callie and the two brothers get out of the helicopter and run towards the water. Swat jumps out of the bushes and charges. Callie screams not to shoot; it’s not them they are decoys.

When Colleen gets the word that the brothers weren’t on the chopper she looks at Jim incredulously. He tells her he told her he wanted a manhunt and now he’s got one. He gets into his car and she asks where he is going. He tells her that he is going to find the money before they do.

Colleen talks to Callie who is distraught over the fact that she could have died in the hospital that she has already spent so much of her life in. She tells Colleen that Greg and Vince switched her for Jolene and told her that if she told before they landed they would kill her. Colleen asks if there is anything she can do for her and Callie tells her she needs a ride back. She has some things she needs to get together for a big day tomorrow.

Jim talks to Carlos on Daniel on his cell. They ask him where he is and he tells them where Daniel’s research sent him, to Uncle Junior’s ranch. The property had been sold to a developer and they were due to break ground the coming Tuesday. Jim thinks that Vince had to break Greg out because he knew where the money was. Jim asks if Carlos got and ID on the DNA from under Sullivan’s fingernails. Carlos tells him yes and he was right about the killer. They’re sending swat.

Jim finds Greg out in the fields digging up the money. He swipes Greg’s gun and as he turns to confront him Vince comes out of the trees holding a gun to the head of Jolene. He warns Jim that he will shoot her. Jim tells him to go ahead. Vince is confused but it all becomes clear when Jim explains that he knows Jolene is Greg’s girlfriend. She killed Billy Sullivan. She denies it at first but eventually grabs the gun from Vince and holds it up to Jim’s face. He tells her he brought back up but she doesn’t believe him. Sirens sound in the distance and in the split second Jolene is distracted Jim grabs the gun. He punches Greg in the face and tells him that’s for scaring his girl.

Jim arrives at the hospital. He is looking for Callie and asks Ben if he has seen her. The conversation leads to the closing of the hospital and Jim asks if Callie still has a job. Ben assures him that she has a great job offer with a new title, better pay, and paid med school tuition, in Atlanta. Jim can’t believe it. Ben tells him that it a really good opportunity for her and he can’t believe she hasn’t told him about it.

Callie walks through the airport as Jim arrives home from his long day. He tries to call her again but gets no answer. She goes through customs and is going to board her flight. Jim’s doorbell rings and he answers it and finds someone taking a survey. Behind the woman a cab pulls up and Callie is sitting in the back seat. She gets out and he goes to her. She tells him that she is not going to take the offer. She is staying because her life is here, Jeff’s life is here, and he is here. They walk into the house hand in hand. Share
