Trash n’ Privilege have released a new single titled “Best That You’re Dead.” Vocalist Steve Shepard commented:

“The lyrics draw from this phenomenon of people being ostracized from their family or friends because they disagree on politics or religion. Which I find completely antithetical to politics and religion. We have to be able to agree to disagree. We all have seen it, experienced it, maybe done it. Rejecting a close friend or family member as if they died over an opinion is bonkers to me. Opinions change, people change. Let’s not be so fast to write one another off.”

Dirty Heads have shared two new tracks, “Better” and “Sound Boy Killa.” Those tracks are from the band’s new album, “7 Seas,” which will be released on June 12.

Percussionist Jon Olazabal commented:

“[‘Better’] is one of my personal favorites on the album. Another one that was mostly done out in Nashville. We are definitely living in wild times right now. There is a lot of uncertainty in the world, it’s so important we stick together and help each other navigate this crazy ass world, and to remind each other that all things pass. Moving forward with love and compassion for one another is a must. This song is a great reminder of that.”

Vocalist/guitarist Duddy B continued:

“Sometimes, writing songs can be difficult. It feels like you’re pulling teeth trying to finish the idea. But every now and then, a song just pours out of you.That happened with ‘Better.’ I think we all needed this one.”

Singer Jared Watson added:

“[‘Sound Boy Killa‘] is one of those songs I kind of had done in my head since before we started. The vision and the sonics were already there, we just had to create them. I’ve been listening to a lot of UK garage. That genre, sonically, is always progressing, especially with bass tones, so I wanted to take the sonics of a dirty UKG bass and build Dirty Heads-style hip-hop song around it. I wanted the song to slap hard, be dynamic for the live show, and also be fun and not too serious.

The ‘Sound Boy Killaaaa’ was what started the chorus and the lyrical content. The whole song now blends Jamaican DJ clash culture with UGK bass sonics, Dirty Heads hip-hop drums, and reggae influence. All together is that essential dirty, grimy, and fun Dirty Heads song, but with a progression of sonics.”

Savage Hands have released a new single titled “POWER.” Vocalist Mike Garrow said the following:

“Partnering with Seek and Strike marks a natural and timely evolution for Disfiguring The Goddess. As the working title became official, ‘Bloom‘ took on a deeper symbolic weight; it represents DTG awakening from a long slumber to become what it was always intended to be. I see myself as the fire-keeper for that vision, and Seek and Strike arrived at the perfect moment to add the energy and momentum needed for this next stage.”

“The album’s first single, ‘Low Slam Low,’ is one of the most brutal and relentless songs on the album. It was written with a very intentional slam-focused mindset, shifting between blast beats and crushing slams that gradually morph into slower, heavier forms of themselves. A huge part of the song’s character comes from the guitar tone.

I tracked it with my Gretsch Baritone tuned extremely low, and I love how much body and texture that instrument carries. On parts of this song, the guitar stops feeling like a traditional riff instrument and starts becoming more like a wall of physical texture, with the notes nearly disappearing under the weight of the tone. When the bridge hits, that is where the actual voice of the guitar comes through more clearly. The whole track is also surrounded by creepy sound design that keeps shadowing the brutality and pushing the atmosphere further.

Lyrically, it is one of my favorite songs on the record because of how strange and personal it feels. There is a moment in it where I am talking about being completely alone with my thoughts, while at the same time the opening of ‘My Girl‘ by The Temptations is looping in my head. That contrast captures something I really love about the song. To me, it feels like a unique contribution not only to this album, but to the more brutal and slam-oriented side of heavy music right now.”

“‘Bloom‘ is an album about accumulation, cultivation, and execution. There are a lot of themes running through it, both personal and sonic, but when I step back and look at the bigger picture, it symbolizes nurturing the seed of DTG until it finally blossoms. It is the beginning of a new chapter and the closing of an old one.”

Exploring Birdsong have shared their “Live From The Cottage” session online. The stripped-back performance features reimagined versions of three tracks from their debut album “Every House We Built” (out June 26). Vocalist Lynsey Ward commented:

“When I was young, local TV stations always had a show where a creepy host would show campy cult movies and dress up and tell you tidbits about the film. This continues today with a show hosted by the creepiest of hosts, Svengoolie. ‘Mister Blood And Guts’ is about a film you might see on one of these shows, albeit with a much more violent plot. Our villain is a black clad caped phantom with a top hat who attacks unsuspecting moviegoers, leaving the aisles filled with blood and the seats filled with heads! This is another song that I wrote the music after having the lyrics in my head for a few days.”
