There are many different styles you could choose for your home, and you may prefer something modern and minimalistic. Then again, you may truly enjoy the sounds and sights of nature. Since you cannot spend all of your time in the outdoors, you may wish to bring nature indoors. You can actually do this, but you need to make smart choices so that your home will be pleasing, not a jungle. Here are some things you can do to bring nature indoors.

Start with an Indoor Waterfall

These water features are made to recreate sounds of nature right in your home. There are different types of water features you could choose to suit your home’s décor style. Some of the water walls will have a very distinct and natural look to them, making use of natural stone or slate. You can choose a big indoor waterfall that takes up a whole wall. You can also choose smaller tabletop fountains if you do not have a great deal of space. The sound of a bubbling indoor waterfall will certainly be the first step to bringing nature into your home.

Choose Greenery

Even if you do not have a green thumb, you can still bring greenery into your home. You just need to choose the right plants. There are many tropical trees and plants that are easy to care for and will grow well in your house. If you do not have a great deal of sunshine in the room, consider plants that thrive in shade. Some of your choices for indoor plants include bamboo, cacti, money trees, banana trees, dieffenbachia, and jade plants. Try to avoid fake plants since they simply do not offer the same natural look you are aiming for.

Pick the Right Flooring

If you want to truly bring nature indoors, then change your floor. Now, you can actually get natural bamboo flooring, which is comfortable to walk on and definitely offers a sense of nature to the space. You can also choose natural stone that has not been polished. It will give a natural feel to the space that you cannot achieve with carpet or tile. If you are not ready to make a big change, you could choose laminate, which will mimic the look of wood without the high cost.

If you enjoy spending time outdoors, then consider bringing the outdoors in with these simple ways to bring nature to your home.

When you look at your backyard, do you wish you could have something much more than just grass? Unfortunately, we often do very little with a backyard when there is so much potential in the space. Think of your yard as a canvas waiting to be painted. With simple steps you can turn that canvas into a garden paradise. If you don’t know where to start, do not worry. What you need to know is listed below.

Start with a Plan

The best way to create the perfect garden paradise is to plan it out first. If you just try to start putting things together, you may find the whole garden disjointed and you may be disappointed with the results. The best way to plan your garden is draw a sketch of your yard’s shape on a piece of paper. Mark any current things like trees or shrubs that cannot be moved. In addition, mark areas that only get sunshine or only get shade. This will give you a template to go by so that you can plan paths, flower beds, and other elements you wish to include. Make sure you carefully plan flower beds where they will get the proper sun or shade.

Begin with the Basics

Before you start planting flowers, put down all of the basic elements. If you plan to have a walkway through the garden paradise, this is a good place to start. Lay the stonework along a winding path and you can then plant flowers and add other elements around that path. Be sure to include a place to stop and relax. Consider a stone or wood bench, a swing, or other seating. When you have all of the basics in place, you can fill in all of the blank spots with flowers, plants, and more.

Consider a Garden Water Fountain

If you wish to add that extra special element to your new paradise, add in a garden water fountain. You can choose free standing features or those that look like natural rocks with bubbling water along the pathway. A garden water fountain will be a perfect addition to a peaceful escape, so consider adding it in to your paradise close to where you placed seating. When you need to relax, you will enjoy the peaceful sound of running water.

With just a few steps, you can turn your boring backyard into a garden paradise. Just be sure to begin with a plan, place the basics, and consider a garden water fountain.

When people come into your waiting room, they are most likely not happy to be there. They could be in pain, rushed for time, tired, impatient, running late for an appointment, or simply frustrated with having to wait. The more you can create a peaceful environment in your waiting room, the better.

While you obviously cannot take away all of their anxiety, frustration, anger, or impatience, you can create a waiting room that will ease their nerves. Here are three easy ways to create a more peaceful waiting room for your sake as well as the sake of the customers.

Start with Greenery

Bringing the outdoors inside can create a very peaceful and calm atmosphere. You can easily incorporate nature into your waiting room by choosing plants and decorative trees. Here are some tips on how to use greenery:

Opt for real plants. Fake plants always look fake and this will make it look as if you were most interested in saving money.

Choose plants that do not need much sunshine, unless you have quite a bit of natural sunshine coming in the office.

Make sure the plants stay alive and healthy. Unhealthy or dying plants will look depressing.

Choose plants that do not need as much watering since they will be easier to maintain.

Move On to Artwork

People are much more patient when they have something to look at. Make sure to decorate the walls of the waiting room. However, do not choose just any artwork. Here are some tips on choosing the right prints:

Do not pick those generic hotel prints that seem cheap and unfriendly.

Choose local artists. When you put up artwork from unknown artists in the area, you will pique the interest of the patients. They will forget that they are waiting.

Make sure to include plaques indicating information about the art so that patients can learn more about the art.

Pick warm and welcoming colors, like earth tones in the artwork.

Consider a Floor Water Fountain

The sound of running water and the sight of that water flowing over a wall or bubbling up a fountain can be extremely relaxing. A floor water fountain offers stress-relieving qualities and can make people much more patient with the wait time. Be sure to choose a floor water fountain that is in keeping with the style of your waiting room so that it blends well.

You can make small changes that will make your waiting room much more peaceful and much more conducive to patience for those who must wait in that room. Be sure to consider adding greenery, choosing the perfect art, and placing a floor water fountain.

So often, medical waiting rooms feel cold, callous, and generic. Often, they include plain white walls, uncomfortable chairs, and just a few pieces of generic artwork. The problem is, patients waiting in a medical waiting room are usually sick, tired, frustrated, impatient, running late, or scared. When they have only a cold, uncaring waiting room to sit in, all of their feelings will be magnified. A patient that is already scared to come to the doctor will only become more afraid. A patient who is tired of waiting will only become more impatient. If you have a cold waiting room, it is time to take that cold feeling out of it. Here are a few tips you can use in order to create a much more inviting room.

Change the wall color. There is no reason why those walls have to be stark white. There are certain colors that induce a calmer feeling among people, and you definitely want your patients to feel calm. These colors include any shade of blue, earth tones, deep shades of orange or rust, and browns. Make sure to avoid red or green for the paint colors. Changing the wall color is a big step toward creating a much more welcoming space in your waiting room.

Choose different seating. Unfortunately, too many medical facilities make use of the most uncomfortable seats, and this is not calming for patients who have to wait. Instead, consider investing in more comfortable seating. While this may cost more than other types of economical seats, you can expect patients to be much more relaxed when they have somewhere comfortable to wait.

Add a commercial fountain. Of course, these fountains, like water walls and free standing water falls will add a visual beauty to the room, but that is not all. A commercial fountain will be peaceful and stress-relieving. When patients can enjoy the sound of running water, they will be much more relaxed. Consider adding in your office logo to the commercial fountain for a more unique look.

Right now, your medical waiting room may be cold or distant feeling. Think about how this must make your patients feel. If you put yourself in their shoes for just a little while, you will realize just how important it is to have a warmer, more inviting waiting room. Just a few changes can make a big difference in creating a more comfortable space for patients.

Are you ready to make a statement in your home? If you are, then making that statement all comes down to the décor items you choose. Truly, you do not have to redecorate a whole space. Instead, all you need to do is choose one item that stands out, makes a statement, and works as a true conversation piece. How do you make a statement without going overboard? It all comes down to choosing the one right piece.

Consider the Perfect Piece of Art

You do not have to decorate every single wall when you are trying to make a statement. Instead, you just need one very striking piece of artwork. Consider something larger than you would normally choose and make sure it is dramatic. You can do this by shopping local art galleries. You never know when you might find that one striking piece by a young or as yet unknown artist local to your area. Be sure to stay away from reproductions or prints and opt instead for something original so that it will be truly statement making.

Think of Water Features

Many people do not think of water features as something to include in a house. However, there are numerous indoor water features that are designed for the home setting. They are available in a number of sizes, and when you choose something as dramatic as a water wall or free standing water fall, you can ensure that you have a statement piece. Consider the style you currently have in your home and either choose a feature that fits in with that style or complements it. You are sure to have a conversation piece when you have your very own waterfall.

Paint an Accent Wall

If you have all of your walls neutral and then you choose one specific wall and paint it something dramatic, you will find that the walls alone can be a statement. To do this, you cannot be shy with the colors you choose for that accent wall. They must be dramatic, like deep red, burnt orange, bold blue or sunny yellow. Stay away from primary colors to avoid the look of a child’s room.

Any of these options will give you that statement making piece you want for your home. Consider a water feature, a piece of art, or the accent wall. Just be sure to choose one statement making item for the room for the best effect.

It can be easy to think that décor is an unnecessary expense in a business setting. After all, you most likely want to spend money on marketing, inventory, and employees. However, if you do not invest in the décor used in public areas of your office, your customers will notice. The result will be that you appear cheap and that you appear unwilling to spend money for the comfort and care of your customers. It does not cost that much to make business décor choices and you can turn an uncaring environment into something that will make an impression on your customers. Here are some things you can do to show customers you care.

Make the Space More Inviting

If your customers or clients will be spending any time in the space, they need to feel as if that space is inviting and welcoming, not cold and callous. To make this happen, try the following ideas:

Use warm colors like earth tones, rust orange, or deep blues.

Add upholstery, which is much more inviting than metal or plastic chairs.

Choose real artwork, not prints that were made to hang in hotels.

Consider a plant or two to create a more welcoming atmosphere.

If you have not yet done anything with the business space, then making any of these changes will have an impact on how customers perceive your company.

Do Something Unexpected

You can really show your customers you care about them with an unexpected décor item. Consider something like indoor water falls. Your customers will be fascinated by the attractive beauty and the calming sounds of the indoor water falls. Be sure to consider an inviting design, like those of natural materials. Then, consider having indoor water falls customized with your logo for a special touch.

Choose Décor Elements

Think about things you would like for your home and then think of which décor items would be appropriate for a business setting. You should not forget those small touches that create a more inviting space in your office. This could include large vases, statues, tabletop art, or special made pieces that suit your business.

Your customers will notice if you do not make an effort to create a more comfortable space for them. If you just add a few different décor elements into your office, this will make a big difference in how your customers perceive your business. Décor shows that you care and that matters to the customer.

You spend at least eight hours a day at work. If you are like many people, that number is closer to nine or ten hours a day. Because you spend so much time in your office, you will want to ensure that it is a relaxing and comfortable environment. When your office is relaxing, it provides you with a much more feasible place to work. You will find it much easier to avoid stress, pressure and anxiety at work when you take the time to create a relaxing atmosphere in your office. There are several ways you can do this.

Change the Colors

If you can, consider changing the colors in your office. Color can have a great deal to do with your mood and stress levels. Most offices are white or gray, but this is not a color conducive to relaxation. Make your office feel a little more comfortable. Consider more inviting colors like earth tones or rich jewel tones. Avoid anything bright and garish like red, bold green or bold blue, because they can be too distracting for a work environment.

If you have windows in your office, then consider adding window coverings that incorporate the wall colors. Be sure to consider black out curtains because there are times when you may need to block out the sun and create a more distraction-free environment.

Create Organization

A disorganized office is not a relaxing office. You cannot get away from the stress and focus on work if you can’t find anything among the clutter. If you take some time to organize all of the documents and paperwork in your office currently and keep the organization when new paperwork comes in, you will find that you can create a more relaxing atmosphere and you can be much more productive with your work when you can find everything.

Consider an Indoor Fountain

Have you ever heard the sounds on sound machines? They most often include the sounds of a babbling brook or some other source of moving water. That is because the sound of water is very relaxing and stress relieving. If you want a truly relaxed office environment, then consider an indoor fountain. These fountains are available in large or small sizes to suit your office space. With the background sound of an indoor fountain, you will find your space more relaxing.

A more relaxed office is an office that is much more conducive to productive work. Instead of considering your office to be a source of stress, create a place where you can truly relax and work.

The first thing that people will see of your business is most likely the lobby. However, the lobby is often the last area to be updated. Keep in mind that first impressions matter, and if your customers get the wrong first impression of your company, this can be very hard to overcome. There are several things you can do to update your lobby, create a modern feel, and make the right first impressions.

Choose Modern Décor

If you have an outdated lobby, it may be time to replace the furnishings and décor. Start by looking at the furniture. To create a more modern look, consider sleek lines, minimalist design, and clean colors. Next, look at the artwork. Often, if you leave art up for several years, the images can be very dated. If you are attempting to create a modern lobby, replace that artwork. A good place to look would be to find local galleries and choose pieces from a local, undiscovered artist. Finally, consider the small décor items. They should be kept at a minimum for a modern lobby. Be very picky about the pieces you choose. Consider sleek designs or even items with an Eastern influence.

Consider Logo Water Features

Water features have become quite popular in business settings, and logo water features are the modern version of fountains. These water walls include your business logo on stone, metal, glass, or slate. The water pours down the front of the wall and creates a very striking image. Customers like the unique and modern look of logo water features. Make sure you choose modern style over Old World classics in order to keep your lobby contemporary.

Choose Striking Colors

For a more modern look in your business lobby, you must be careful about the colors you use throughout. Solid white is just too clinical, but certain colors like forest green will feel outdated. Instead, opt for striking color combinations, like black, white and red or gray, brown and blue. You can create a striking and very modern image just by using the right colors.

When you look at your business lobby and you realize it needs to be updated, consider creating a modern look for the space your customers will see first. Modern décor, contemporary colors, and modern elements like logo water features will create a lobby that definitely impresses the right image on your customers.

Large rooms can be so difficult to decorate. After all, normal sized furniture in a big, cavernous room can look as if it is made for a dollhouse. Whether you have a great room at home or a large front office, you need to find ways to decorate that will make the space feel cozier. No one wants to feel lost in a big, empty space. It takes just a few changes to turn that big, empty space into something that feels warmer, cozier, and more inviting.

Choose Darker Paint

The wall coloring can have a big impact on how small or large a space feels. For small rooms, the rule has always been to use lighter colors, and it works in opposite for large rooms. If you need to make a room feel less cavernous, then choose darker, richer paint colors. Most definitely bypass white, eggshell, and any pastels, which will just make the room feel larger. Good paint color choices include:

Brown

Burgundy

Burnt orange

Dark blue

Toffee

Any earth tones

You may be surprised at how much cozier a room can feel just with a change to the wall color.

Consider an Indoor Water Fall

A water feature is definitely a nice addition to any room, especially in a room where you want to create a cozier feel. In especially large rooms, an indoor water fall or water wall will add a calming effect to the room. This is especially useful if you want to come home and unwind from a stressful day or if you want to create a calming atmosphere in a waiting room or office. Since you have a larger space, you can choose from large, dramatic water features. The indoor water fall will certainly create a cozier feeling.

Think about Oversized Furniture

Thankfully, more furniture designers are creating options made specifically for larger spaces. This oversized furniture will create the illusion that the large room is smaller than it is. Overstuffed sofas, chairs, and other seating along with larger tables and other details will work best for a large room. Make sure to avoid small items like very small knick knacks or décor features since they will seem even smaller in a large room and can look cluttered.

It does not take much to turn a large, cavernous room into something cozy and much more comfortable. With these little changes, you can make a big difference in your home or business location.

When you make the decision to sell your home, you will want to ensure that you get as much as possible. If you have a mortgage on the home, it is very important that you are able to pay off that mortgage from the sale. Even if you own the home outright, you will want to get enough money to pay for your new place to live. There are different things you can do in your home to make it more sellable. When you make changes for the good of the home, you will find that it appeals much more to potential buyers.

Start with Staging

Ask any realtor and they will tell you that staging is extremely important. Staging is a simple process to create a live-in feel for the home. This includes adding furniture and décor elements that look the best in each room. When potential buyers view a home, they will find it much easier to actually visualize living in the home when it is staged.

Make sure to include unique design elements that will stand out, such as indoor water fountains. Even a small fountain will stand out and look (as well as sound) attractive in a staged home. You can make a large room feel less empty by adding in larger indoor water fountains. Staging and including important design elements is a must for getting your home sold.

Consider the Yard

You may not think about your yard when it comes to selling your home, but it is as important as how the inside of the home looks. You do not have to go out of your way to plant new gardens. Instead, simply take the time to keep the lawn manicured, hedges clipped, and flower beds weeded. Keep in mind that the yard is the first thing that potential buyers will see, and you want to make a good first impression.

Think of Neutrals

If you currently have the home painted with trendy colors that you love, keep in mind that not everyone will love those colors. If you have the time, consider repainting. You need to give potential buyers a chance to visualize the space as their own home. Do this by choosing neutral colors for the walls.

Selling a home can be tricky, and you will definitely want to ensure that you make the home as sellable as possible. Consider making the changes above before you put the house on the market.
