*UPDATE* – Greetings friends. It’s been awhile since I’ve made any recent additions to the KDM blog. I believe I’m going to reserve this place for less frequent, but more in depth, writings about our experiences here at Kingdom Dog. Last weekend’s trip to Corn Mennonite Brethren church is as good a place as any to start.

(09/08-09/18) – Corn Oklahoma. Population 500. I doubt many have heard of this city and it’s name lends some brief insight as to why few are aware of Corn. The name suggests that this is a farming community with endless corn fields and that it’s citizens are clothed in overalls and straw hats. Indeed it is a farming community but corn is not among it’s chief crops. Their endless fields, and I mean endless, of crops include cotton, wheat, rye, peanuts, barley and sorghum. One can literally stand anywhere in Corn, make a 360 degree turn and hardly see a soul or house in sight. There is a strange peace and calmness in that. Video

I was surprised to learn that Corn used to be spelled “Korn” and is the German word for grain. The town was settled back in 1893 by German speaking Russian Mennonites and their Mennonite Brethren church was our destination. Besides the many grain silos it is one of the few structures standing tall in town. Springing up seemingly out of nowhere among the vast crop fields, it is a surprisingly modern in design. The pews of the church were filled with people from Corn as well as neighboring cities (not in overalls) to hear and see God’s word exemplified through KDM’s lab retrievers.

God moved 69 individuals to make new or renewed commitments to Christ! Preacher and I were very moved by the positive response we received from everyone during their Men’s event and Sunday church service. Corn is truly a blessed community of God loving individuals and we are very fortunate to have been a part of their special church event. They are truly a faithful community of Christians working together to glorify Jesus Christ in all they do. Thank you to Pastor Sandy and Estes for having us.

Pontotoc County Fair, Saratoga, MS

(08/23/17) – Spoke this Wednesday at the Pontotoc County Fair in Saratoga Mississippi. For some reason I had been feeling a lot of opposition heading into this talk. Not sure if the good people of Saratoga were in need or if I was under attack spiritually.

Headed into the event knowing it was going to be a rodeo arena. Arenas usually bring about awful conditions for the dogs with all the loose dirt as well as strange acoustics with microphones. I asked for prayers and guidance from friends and family and the Holy Spirit did just that. There were more than 600 people that turned out to hear God’s word! Additionally, 60 individuals made new or renewed commitments to Jesus Christ!

What a blessing to be part of what the good Lord is doing. Thank you to all who prayed for us. They were heard and felt. We have now been up for 16 hours and have to be on the road again soon. Until next time.

Modern Day Miracle – God Still Parts The Red Sea

IT WAS AN ORDINARY DAY, BUT NOT AN ORDINARY MOMENT. Approximately eight years ago when I first started travelig out of state I was invited to be the speaker at Brookside Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi. I put the address in my GPS, and headed north east out of Houston. Ten hours later upon reaching the GPS destination there was no church. However, looking thru the trees I could see a church steeple in the distance and drove that way. Pulling up in the parking lot I heard voices coming out of the gym’s open door. Upon entering I saw a half dozen men gathered around a table. One of the men looking up asked if they could help. Yes, I replied, I am your speaker for tonight. The man looking puzzled walk over towards me and asked, what type of speaker are you? I said, I am Kingdom Dog Ministries I am to talk tonight at The Brookside Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi and my GPS brought me to this address. The gentleman who is a friend to this day said, your GPS made an error. This is the First Baptist Church, Olive Branch. Brookside Church is about 11 miles down the road. He then questioned one more time, but you really are a men’s event speaker? What do you do? I said come outside and I will show you. I use beautiful trained labrador dogs to demonstrate the meaning of God’s Word. I opened up my truck letting a dog out and used him in a demonstration. He quietly said, trying not to get choked up, this is unbelievable. We received notification this morning that our speaker for tomorrow has had to cancel. We were just asking God to send us a speaker, and YOU CAME WALKING THROUGH THE DOOR because your GPS sent you to the wrong address!!!!! Miracles do still happen, and yes…. needless to say, I had two events that weekend!

First Baptist Church of Olive Branch, Mississippi is a church with a remarkable past and a tremendous future! The story of FBCOB is a story of the work of God. Founded in 1838, the church has been a consistent and reliable part of the landscape of this growing community for over 175 years! Now, in the 177th year of ministry, we continue to see the hand of God at work. God is doing incredible things in this community through this generation of First Baptist as lives are transformed and families are strengthened.
