Hi everyone I'm sorry that I haven't posted or updated in a while work is very busy but on my social media you see that I'm there I have to take time out because this is a huge one and I hope that everybody sees that if we continue we will have success I'm really proud to know that Rob and Stephanie are people I know and I will post screenshots full this is a win and I hope that this energizes everyone.

It has been brought to the survivor community’s attention that Melissa (Missy) Esty, of Portland Maine, has been hired to join the Westbrook Police Department, working as one of the three new Opportunity Alliance positions, paid through a grant. This job requires Esty to be on-scene of behavioral health–related calls. These three salaried positions were created in response to a collective push for “increased transparency,” as well as to aid the department in outreach for civilian co-responders. In light of Westbrook’s efforts for transparency, it has become prudent that another form of transparency comes forth.

Several concerned residents of Westbrook Maine found the Elan Survivor groups and reached out in horror after discovering Esty’s history of being a Director at “The Elan School” had not been disclosed to them. It is our moral duty as survivors of the Elan School, and as victims of Melissa Esty’s abuse to immediately demand transparency be given to the vulnerable community of Westbrook. This community has been left in the dark in the name of public safety about Esty’s prior history of employment, particularly her nearly three-decade-long career as a Director of the Elan School that, till this day, is still plagued with hundreds of allegations of abuse performed by Esty and other former staff. This includes the deaths of several students while she worked there.

The Elan School operated for 41 years in the woods of Poland Maine, from 1970-2011. Operating in a highly secluded, wooded area away from the public eye, neighbors or any signs of civilization were miles away, many Maine residents weren’t and still aren’t aware of the Elan school. It is our responsibility to inform and educate, to bring awareness with truth and testimony from our own experiences and harrowing traumas endured. It is imperative that the unsuspecting inhabitants of Maine and its vulnerable communities are educated on these deceptive and covered-up operations that exploit vulnerable children in the name of mental health. More importantly, the residents understand how not one person received the accountability for the endless list of terrors and crimes against children committed.

Here were some of the typical forms of therapy that the Elan School used:

“Attack Therapy” - which was coined from the cult Synanon. Elan was born from this cult. These are important historical facts that the public has access to and has the right to know in order to maintain levels of public safety from child abuse and exploitation.

The Elan School’s regimen of therapy used physical violence against children in several forms. A few examples:

Children being pit against one another in boxing rings, forced to fight new opponents each round after they were beaten into submission as a punishment or “learning experience.” At least one child died in these rings, And many more have permanent brain and body injuries. https://www.wmtw.com/article/student-s-death-investigated-decades-later/2012629

Corporal punishments and public spankings that the executive director, Joe Ricci, nonchalantly discussed on national television. Being forced to wear degrading signs and embarrassing costumes such as bunny suits and leg shackles.

Depriving children of food and sleep and taking basic human rights away, forcing them to be earned as privileges (such as going to the toilet).

Having students sleep and live out of garbage dumpsters or graves they dug in the ground as punishment.

Being put in solitary confinement, known as “the corner”, facing a wall in a plastic chair for weeks sometimes months at a time, not allowed to participate in the daily activities or school. Children slept on a plastic mattress that was brought to them in the corner, they were only allowed to stand up with permission from staff, and immediately put into plastic restraints if breached. Which happened daily.

Ceremonial and cult-like chantings/primal scream therapy sessions daily. (You can find samples of this online; be advised it is highly traumatic and distressing to hear how the daily treatment of the treatment really sounded like. Primal scream therapy was commonplace for the children’s treatment at the Elan program. We used it daily in groups, public humiliation sessions, and during cleaning and meals. Despite the abundant information available on the internet, documentaries, newspaper articles, Elan School survivor testimonies, and social media accounts of survivors bravely telling their stories of the abuses - there has never been public accountability for any of the directors or staff that held positions of power over vulnerable children for its 41 years of operation.

Kingy was like, “Angela, that’s the queen who does the impression of you that I’ve been sending you!” She goes, “Oh my God baby, come give me a hug! It’s so nice to meet you! You look great!! Just make sure you keep winning!” [Laughs] I think I win every time I perform as her! That impression always makes the crowd laugh and cry. When I’m on stage as her, I’m paying tribute to the larger-than-life person who brought so much joy into the hearts and homes of everyone who watched and knew her! She is extremely missed.

For this gal, Pride is about friends and drinks, and drinks with friends. I’ll go anywhere for these said drinks with friends, and have spent past Prides in some very interesting places. Last year I made no plans and had not a clue how I was going to spend Pride Sunday. I woke up in a stupor at a stranger’s apartment in Hell’s Kitchen Sunday morning after a wild romp the night before at Vlada. We took a cab to my place so I could change outfits and touch up my face. (Yes, I often need little touch ups.) Our initial plan was to go somewhere and watch the Parade, however, before I knew it, my apartment was full of drag queens and club kids and one King Ralphy who invited us to a Pride party he was hosting at Midtown Loft and Terrace. It’s around the block from my place and on a rooftop on a gorgeous summer day in Manhattan? Sign me up!

It turned out to be the best Pride I’d ever experienced. I was with wonderful friends in a beautiful space, looking down at the Parade below and listening to some really spectacular music. I’m hard to impress as I can be a disenchanted little Demanda from time to time, but even this got a smile out of me. I couldn’t have felt the love more, from my friends, from the other party goers, to DJ Michael Hades, who throws the Pridefest. Although I remember very little (after all, I did take advantage of the open bar), it was a Pride I will never forget.

So this year, I’m doing the same. Yep, there is no place I’d rather be. I’m going to gather up my troops and we’re going to party it up again, on that rooftop with that kick ass music and all that love. And I know it’s going to be spectacular. Big Ang from Mob Wives is celebrating her birthday, and this woman is one of the most hysterical I’ve seen in a while. DJ Jerome Farley is flying in from Barcelona to celebrate his 40th birthday by spinning in the loft while the mastermind behind what a great party is, Michael Hades, is on the rooftop.

Nowhere else I’d rather be, and nowhere else I’m going.

Started in 2004 as a joint venture between Mark Nelson and Chris Wright, Fairgrounds “Out at Night” has evolved over the past 10 years to be the main fall outdoor event in the tri-state and beyond area.

The event has raised more than $400,000 for non-profits including Heritage of Pride, The Task Force Action Fund, The Gay Center in NYC, ASPCA, The Imperial Court and others.

Originally, the focus was to create a safe environment for LGBTQI people, which Nelson and Wright felt wasn’t being done fully at similar amusement parks. As the years have progressed, they have opened up their target market for those who love a great night out and want to be free to be who and what they are without judgments.

This is the only event where the entire LGBTQI community is out in force and equal in numbers as far as age, ethnicity, size, etc. In other words, Latinos, Chelsea boys, butch and lipstick ladies, couples with children (you can come during day and stay into private night) and 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond ages. People attend from all over, including New York City, Philadelphia, Jersey, Washington, Connecticut and more.

Whether you like world-renown roller coasters, midway attractions, enjoying the crisp autumn air, meeting old and making new friends or dancing under the stars, this is the event!

As producers, Nelson and Wright have been on top of their game, having brought A-List entertainment to their events over the years, including Janet Jackson, Sylvia Tosun, Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Lauper, Ultra Nate, Colton Ford, Charo, Zhana, Vassy, Meg, Bex, Neon Hitch, Pussycat Dolls, Jennifer Hudson, Martha Wash, Joi Cardwell, Melissa Gorga, Big Ang, Brian Kent, Quentin Elias, Angie Stone, Porcelain Black, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry and more. These guys have been quietly ruling the roost!
