Paranormal Talk Sends Chills at Branch Library

Ghostly images. Mysterious energy. Physical encounters. Strange faces. This was the evidence put forward by a pair of state ghosthunters on Saturday with regard to their long-time work in the field of paranormal activity.
Joseph Franke and Orlando Ferrante, founders of the Connecticut Paranormal Research Society, shared photographic images and related details of several cases they worked on over the years during a talk at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library that was attended by about 60 people.
The duo, with over 45 years of combined knowledge and experience, has established itself as one of the leading paranormal investigation and research teams in New England.

One of the most remarkable cases occurred in Enfield in 2008, and still haunts the pair. As Ferrante related it, they were contacted by the homeowners who described that they had been seeing shadowy figures. A lot of the sightings and activity was centered around the couple’s twin daughters, who they later discovered had a gift of seeing the paranormal. They went to check out the home.
“We went a total of five times,” Ferrante said, “but were finding no evidence to validate the claims. On that fifth visit, we set up an infrared video camera in the girls’ room and had one of our investigators shooting still shots in the hallway outside their bedroom while we worked with a psychic downstairs. The psychic managed to channel a spirit that we felt was doing all the harassing. I used religious provocation to challenge the spirit and, through the psychic, it spit in my face and laughed at us.”
Things really became intense at that point. “Shortly thereafter, our investigator was attacked upstairs,” Ferrante said. “She was physically picked up off her feet and dropped to the ground. We ran upstairs and found total chaos. As we checked on the girls, we could hear loud growling. We controlled the situation, removed everyone from the room and monitored things for the rest of the night, which was quiet.”
The investigators expected the video camera might have documented the occurrence, but discovered the tape was gone when they began packing up their equipment. It went missing for over nine months before turning up mysteriously on top of a camcorder bag.
Ferrante reviewed the tape and, to his amazement, saw an anomalous object coming out of the crib, timed about two minutes after their investigator was attacked.
A second review showed one of the girls looking very agitated and whispering “sit down” in the direction of the investigator, at which point the woman was attacked.
Ferrante said the pair wasn’t able to resolve the situation in the home. “While the homeowners were at first pursuing a course that may have allowed us to provide a house cleansing, the situation changed during the time the tape went missing. The homeowners ended up working with another paranormal group which contacted a television producer to film a paranormal episode for Animal Planet.”
The overall event still brings chills to the duo when they recollect it and, Ferrante said, “I feel the aggressive spirit there has managed to attach itself to my family through me. Let’s just say there have been some unexplainable occurrences over the past two years.”
This was just one incredible tale the pair related from their nearly lifelong experience in the field, which began for both when they were just children. In fact, Franke’s first interface came when he was 3 years old.
“My maternal grandfather and I were very close and spent a lot of time together. One night, while my parents were watching TV, I came out of my bedroom, apparently sleepwalking, and said I heard someone saying, ‘Joseph, come with me.’ Shortly thereafter, my parents got a call from my grandmother saying that my grandfather had passed away. He’d had a heart attack while sitting up reading the Bible in bed. That’s where the seed was planted that I had some kind of paranormal connection.”
Similarly, Ferrante had been surrounded by the paranormal since he was 6 years old. “I had the ability to sense spirits, see them and feel them. My mother would tell me it’s nothing, then later confessed to knowing I had a special gift and it was common to other members of the family,” he said.
Later in life, both had the opportunity to meet and work with Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were the pioneers in the paranormal field and handled such high-profile cases as the infamous Amityville, N.Y. house where Ronald DeFeo, Jr. killed his parents and four siblings in 1974.
In 1995, through a mutual friend, Franke met Ferrante, and they decided to branch out on their own and formed the Connecticut Paranormal Research Society.
“We are committed to researching the unexplained and try to assist people who feel they may have paranormal disturbances,” said Franke. “A very small percentage of the cases we look into turn out to be paranormal. Often they are psychosomatic. We do a lot of upfront research and screening before we take a case.”
The pair say television doesn’t accurately represent what goes on in the field. “There’s a lot of hard work in researching and family sacrifice. We may work on a case for nights, weeks, even years. We’re about finding resolution,” said Ferrante.

They don’t profess to have all the answers but just share their experiences. “We’re like Fox News. We report, you decide.”

Ghosts are notoriously camera shy. More times than not when someone claims to have photographic evidence of a ghost it is usually a Photoshop job, trick photography, or it is “orbs”. Orbs are actually just a light source reflecting off dust, bugs, or precipitation that is in the air and the only way your camera knows how to deal with this reflection are the balls of light that one often associates with orbs. Some photographic evidence of ghosts does exist, however. This photographic evidence has stood up to scrutiny and stood the test of time.

1. Group Photo

A squadron of the Royal Air Force assembled to take a mundane photograph, but after the picture was developed the squad quickly realized that this was no ordinary picture. Standing behind one of his mates was the two days deceased Freddy Jackson. Jackson was a mechanic for the Royal Air Force and served onboard the H.M.S. Daedalus. He had been working when we was killed in a freak-accident by an air plane propeller, but Jackson did not let his death get in the way of him showing up on time for the group photo two days later. Several of the other men in the photo confirmed that it was in fact Jackson’s face in the background of the picture.

2. The Lady of Bachelor’s Grove

This photo was taking at Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery in Illinois. While it does not get the press that Illinois Resurrection Cemetery does, many experts in the field of the paranormal consider it to be one of the most haunted graveyards in the world. So what is so unique about a photo of a women sitting on a stone in a graveyard? According to the people who took this photo the woman was not there when the picture was taken. The photo was taking by Mari Huff who is a member of the respected paranormal investigating group Ghost Research Society, so this helps lend some credibility to the story. In my opinion, it looks to be a staged photograph but I definitely think the photo’s authenticity is worth a debate.

3. Cowboy Ghost Or Mysterious Stranger

In 1996, Ike Clanton thought it would be a pretty cool idea to deck himself out in cowboy attire and have his friend snap a picture of him while he stood in Boothill Graveyard in the famous Tombstone, Arizona. Upon examining the picture Clanton noticed a man in the background of the photo that was not there when the photograph was taken. Clanton was intrigued by this and set out to recreate the photo with a friend standing in the background and discovered it was impossible to recreate the picture without having the legs visible.

4. Spirit in the Woods?

This photo was taken by Reverend R.S. Blance at Corroboree Rock near Alice Springs, Australia in 1959. In the woods with branches in front of her appears to be a transparent women. If a photo like this was taken today one would likely think that it was a fake ghost picture created in Photoshop, but Photoshop didn’t exist in 1959. Double exposure is also unlikely given how visible the areas in front and behind the women are.

5. The Fire Girl

On November 19, 1995 Wem Town Hall in England caught on fire. The fire raged on all through the night until the building was nothing but rubble. As firefighters battled the flames, a local citizen, Tony O’Rahilly, decided to snap some pictures of the event. In one of his photographs there appears to be the clear image of a little girl standing in front of the inferno. No one remembered a young girl being at the scene and there was definitely not a young girl in the burning building. Some believe this is the ghost of a young girl named Jane Churm who, in 1677, accidentally started a fire that destroyed many homes in the town. Jane also died in the fire. Perhaps the photo is just smoke creating the amazing illusion of a girl or perhaps it is a real ghost.

6. Ghosts Don’t Call Shotgun

The year is 1959. Mabel Chinnery had just spent the day at the cemetery visiting her mother’s grave. To finish off a roll of film she snapped a picture of her husband who was seated in the front seat of the car awaiting her. She had the pictures develop. While looking at the photographs she makes a chilling discover. In one of the photos her deceased mother is sitting in the backseat of her car.

7. Monk In Church

In the summer of 1954, Reverend K.F. Ford was taking pictures of his church that is located in England. While snapping pictures he accidentally captured one of the most famous and perhaps undeniable pictures of a ghost ever taken. In the picture is what appears to be a monk with a ghastly face. The photo has been examined and it was determined that it is neither a double exposure nor had the negative been tampered with.

8. His Favorite Chair

Have you ever had a favorite chair or perhaps a preferred spot on the couch that is just more comfortable than the other areas of the couch? So did Lord Combermere. Lord Combermere unfortunately got hit with a horse drawn carriage in 1891. During his funeral his family hired a photographer to take some family pictures. His burial took place over 4 miles away and while the family attended the funeral the photographer prepared the camera. When the plate was developed it appeared that the apparition of Lord Combermere was sitting in his favorite chair. Perhaps the coffin wasn’t comfortable enough.

9. Brown Lady

This photograph is considered by many to be the most famous “ghost” photograph. It was taken in 1936 at Raynham Hall in Norfolk, England and still today cannot be explained. The photogenic ghost is thought to be that of Dorothy Townshend who lived in Raynham Hall with her husband, Charles Townshend, in the 1700s. Legend has it that Dorthy was a mistress to Lord Wharton and Charles found out about it. He then imprisoned her in a remote section of the Hall until she died from his abuses. Legal records show she died in 1726, but many believe this to be a sham, as Charles wanted people to believe she was dead, so he could punish her for her infidelity.

10.Stairway to the Afterlife

In 1966, Rev. Ralph Hardy visited the National Museum in Greenwich, England. While in the Queen’s House section of the Museum, Hardy snapped a photo of the beautiful staircase. Upon developing his photography Hardy made a shocking discovery. One of his photos showed a ghostly figure climbing the staircase. The figure was not in the photography when Hardy took the picture. The photograph and the negatives were examined by experts, some of which were from Kodak, and all have concluded that the negative was not tampered with nor is it a double exposure.

Are these ten photos proof that ghosts exist? Is this proof of an afterlife? The problem is that there is always room for a hoax or accidental fake when one does not have multiple witnesses and insurmountable evidence. These ten photos are absolutely amazing, regardless. Some of these pictures have undoubtedly given even the most hardened skeptic goose bumps and I don’t believe they should be simply written off as fakes and ignored. These photographs should continue to be examined and researched.

UFO falls in Kazakhstan

Residents of a western Kazakhstan town reported that they witnessed two silver objects fall from the sky on Wednesday night

“It was at about 3AM. I was standing by my tractor when the guys started shouting: ‘Look, there are some balls flying.’ They were big and sparkling with yellow, red and green,” an eyewitness told Interfax news agency over the phone.

According to the witnesses, the spherical objects were approximately 60 cm in diameter, had a silvery surface with what appeared to be a small opening. The UFOs failed to bend or dent when local residents attempted to strike them with their tools, and said the balls produced sparks when they attempted to do so.

A preliminary investigation has failed to identify the strange objects, but according to head of the local emergencies service Aleksandr Ivanov, they are most likely “fragments of a man-made aircraft.”

He also noted that the region where the two spherical objects were discovered has no history of similar incidences.

“Objects fall on the areas bordering the Russian military test range Kapustin Yar, but here it’s a rare thing. I’d say it’s a first,” he said.

The balls were found to pose no immediate threat to public health or the environment and were sent for further research to “a specialized organization.”

An Internet video of what some claim to be an unidentified flying object is creating a stir online. The footage shows a spiraling light coursing through the sky over western Canada. Some argue the videos are fake.

"The objected swooped down and then exploded. To the unaided eye the object vanished in a brilliant array of patterns but on camera the object was seen going through a "tunnel", pointed on the leading end as if zooming out of the atmosphere away from the planet," one of the witnesses, Nathan Varney, was quoted by website beforeitsnews.com as saying.

According to the website, numerous photos and videos keep coming from the area. However, critics have branded the pictures a hoax, arguing the images are computer generated.

Some say the website which broke the story is simply trying to boost its popularity.

However, alien theorists have jumped to the defense of the video's creators arguing there are numerous witness statements from around the world describing similar incidents.

Last December, a spiral light appeared in the skies of Norway prompting talk of unearthly powers. At the time, that Spiral was explained as a misfired Russian missile launched from a submarine in the White Sea.

Three quarter of people of the world think that the world will not end in 2012 if we have to believe our little survey. Even with all the buzz and gossips, only 12% of our readers from around the world think that the world will actually end in 2012 like Nostradamus predicted it.

If you are a regular reader, then you must know about the poll we placed here since the 8th of February 2010. The question asked was: Will the world end in 2012 as Nostradamus predicted it? – Results below!

2012 end of world opinion

Even though this survey is not extensive, we noticed from the log and knowing about our readers, that the votes were from people across different countries, of different age but also from different background. As we can see, 56% of the 708 voters think that 2012 is an absolute nonsense!

19% think that the world as we know it will end before 2100, most probably by our own actions! 13% are somehow confused while only 12% are confident that Nostradamus predicted 2012 as it will happen!
