Change Begins with Choice

By
Jim Rohn

Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all.
Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge.
Any day we wish; we can start a new activity.
Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change.
We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.
We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make.
But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. As Shakespeare uniquely observed, "The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves." We created our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today. Those who are in search of the good life do not need more answers or more time to think things over to reach better conclusions. They need the truth. They need the whole truth. And they need nothing but the truth.
We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us down the wrong path. We must keep coming back to those basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out. And then we must make the very choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives.
And if I may be so bold to offer my last piece of advice for someone seeking and needing to make changes in their life - If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life - and it all begins with your very own power of choice.

Jim Rohn

2008 was an excellent year! Well if you’re watching the news and listening to the world reports, chances are you might not agree, but I believe that any year above ground is an excellent year. In 2008 I had some great opportunities for growth or what the uninitiated would refer to as challenges or problems. I am happy to report that I am still here, sexier than ever and looking forward to the blessings of 2000 (MIND).

Yes, as far as I am concern, this is the year of the Mind. Everything begins with thought, and thoughts are formulated and focused in the mind. So for 2000(MIND) I am going to get into the specifics of how to manifest your ideal life by focusing on your thoughts. In 2000(MIND) we will get away from all this economic bailout, downsizing, unemployment and the fear based ideas that they’ve been pumping into us. This year we will focus on great health and great wealth.

For the past six months I’ve been conversing with some of the most brilliant MINDS on the Planet and I will show you how to really create some dynamic shift in what you’re presently manifesting. Chances are I’ll be doing most of my blogging by video, this way we can get a lot more information out to you in a shorter amount of time.

Stay tune, stay focused and prepare to prosper.

Much love,

Kirk Nugent

P.S

I’ve posted the video, “I No Longer Write About Depression” just to give you an idea of how far I’ve traveled and to let you know that EVERYTHING is possible! One thing that I’ve come to understand over the years is that you don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started in order to be great! I intend to see you at the TOP! Live long and prosper….Happy New Year to ALL and to ALL a Happy New Year.

I know that my mind is my jewel

So I refuse to work like a mule

In someone else’s quest for wealth, I am no tool!

I know that my thought is what I brought

I sow what I reap

Therefore I am proud to be the Black sheep!

The Black sheep dares to be different so he chooses to think,

In negativity he doesn’t allow his thoughts to sink.

The Black Sheep wants more than to be lead by a shepherd,

He wants to choose his destiny, he demands to be heard.

He lives in the moment with all the gusto that he can,

The Black Sheep ignores the limitations set by man.

The Black sheep knows that in order to grow he has to risk something,

So he leaves the flock and he searches with in!

When he left he realizes that to another level he has grown,

It took blood, sweat and tears to break the barriers of his comfort zone!

He visualize his mind as a garden, so constantly he weeds,

Because the garden is kept clean, his horizon recedes.

The Black sheep sees life, but not through the shepherd’s eyes

He doesn’t fear the test, because he knows that he was born to testify,

So he watches; watches as the other sheep try to justify,

Their mediocre lives and minds that have been deprived,

They’re obsequious to their boss and condescending to their wives.

They play the game without ever questioning the rules,

You call them sheep, I call them a flock of fools!

The Black sheep question the rules,

He’s not enclosed by the shepherd’s fence.

If the shepherd is always right, then why was he given a conscience?

The Black sheep dares to be different, so he chooses to exercise his mind,

The Black sheep is a rare creature, the rarest of mankind!

Chinese Proverb

Have you noticed that people who are actively engage in pursuing their passion are seldom distracted by the little thorns of life? On Saturday my son flew from West Palm Beach to New Jersey. This is the beginning of his summer vacation and he was excited about spending time with his grandmother and cousins. He had a connecting flight in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon his arrival in Charlotte, his connecting flight was delayed for twelve hours. He periodically texted me (have you notice that kids don’t talk anymore, they text?) to let me know the status of his flight. (more…)

                                         Just For Today

Life is staring me down, Like Malcolm Gladwell waiting for me to blink

Everything is on the line and in this game of nerves, I’m trying hard not to flinch.

And just then I stop and think

That by the yard it’s hard, but inch by inch everything is a cinch.

And just by memorizing that one line, that one little rhyme

I’ve come to realize that the most effective way to eat an elephant

Is one bite at a time.

So I don’t have to be on point

No, not every day from June right back until May

All I have to do is manage my decisions…just for today

Just for today

I will prepare for my future

Because I know you either get good at sowing in the spring

Or begging in the winter

So today I’m keeping it moving like a marching band drummer

Because I know there will come a time when winter will ask

What have you been doing all summer? (more…)

Sometime ago I wrote a blog explaining that our thoughts are manifesting much faster than they used to. The magnetic fields of the Earth have been reduced and now thoughts are coming back at rapid speed.
For the past month, I’ve felt an overwhelming need to clean out my closet. Not that it was filled with junk, just a little disorganized, and I had quite a few items of clothing that I no longer wear. Yesterday, I finally put my schedule on hold and spent most of the afternoon cleaning and re-organizing my closet.

I was able to pack some stuff away into a couple of Glad Garbage Bags and called the Salvation Army to come and retrieve the contents because they no longer served me and I am sure they would be useful to someone else.

The process didn’t take too long and it wasn’t a tedious effort, but I guess that I procrastinated for a month because I knew that the ‘cleaning of my closet’ was a symbolic move for what needed to be done in my life. There are a few people in my life that no longer serve me, they’ve become the emotional clutter that was stored away in the closet and I decided that now is the best time to “make the cut”.

No Need To Miss Your Flight (Part II)

Now let’s get back to the airport and the business of baggage. Usually when we take a trip, be it business or pleasure, our luggage is actually something that we want to take with us. Be it that favorite business suit, your most comfortable pair of slacks or your best pair of shoes. So for this analogy, let’s look at luggage in a more positive light. Let’s assume that the luggage that you wanted to take with you are your dreams, your goals, your ideals, in short your most intimate desires.

Prior to September 11th 2001 there were three questions that you had to answer correctly regarding your luggage (dreams) before you would be cleared to head to your destination.
If you answered the question incorrectly, you would be delayed and sometimes even denied. Question number one: Did you pack your luggage yourself?

In other words, are these your dreams? The place that you’re trying to get to, is that your vision or is this what society told you that you ought to be? Because if you didn’t pack your bags yourself, at some point you’ll open them up and find that this is not what you wanted to bring along. These shoes (career, relationship ect.) don’t fit. So now you have to re-pack and once again, you’re delayed and could quite possibly be denied. Are you in this relationship and planning to get married because this is what your heart and soul is telling you to do? Or are you trying to fulfill your parent’s dreams of having grand children before they die? (more…)

Forest Gump believed that Life is like a box of chocolates, because you never know what you will get. However Forest wasn’t the brightest bulb on the porch, his was a character that if you stood close to him, you could actually hear the ocean. Life is more like taking a trip on a commercial airline carrier. When you show up at the airport, in order to get to your destination you have to check in. Not only do you have to check in, you have to declare where you are going. If you don’t check in and make that declaration, even though you are at the airport, you don’t go anywhere.

Checking in and making your declaration is what you’re doing with your journal and scrap book. Most people spend all their lives at the airport, never checked in, then at sixty five they declare, “This is not where a wanted to be.” Checking in is simple and it’s easy, for God’s sake, better yet, for your sake, please check in. (more…)

You Will See It When You Believe It.

In the movie, ‘What the Bleep!? Down the Rabbit Hole’ a scientist stated that the brain process 400 billion bits of information per second, (Good God from Zion, that’s a lot!) but we are only aware of 2,000 bits. So the brain has to decide what is important, and allow that information to be filtered to the conscious mind. It also has to decide what is not really relevant and send that information to the sub-conscious mind.

How is the brain able to make such a distinction? Well, we tell it what’s important by our words and our beliefs. Here’s an interesting example, let’s assume that a woman grew up in an environment where her father was abusive to her mom. He was constantly unfaithful and made no attempts to hide his infidelity. Let’s further assume that this little girl would over hear her mom complaining to other women that men are basically no good and the other women would always validate her mom’s point. This young girl starts dating only to find that her boyfriend has been unfaithful, so she subconsciously develops a belief system that ALL men are dogs. (more…)
