It seems a valid concern on the part of the neighborhood. It even sounds like each of the constituents are interested in a solution. Based on that premise, it would seem that the community can/will come together to forge something that keeps everyone safe. It seems like a cause bigger than any one person and a worthy one to solve.

If you’ve been listening to the radio this week, chances are that you have heard an advertisement for the FESTIVAL OF FOOD & FLOWERS in Kirkwood this weekend. The annual Festival of Food & Flowers starts at 10 a.m., this Saturday, May 22, in downtown Kirkwood. The event features free flowers, gardening advice, an art show, live music and cooking demonstrations at the Kirkwood Farmers’ Market. I am very excited to say that I will be attending. I will be sure to report back with my findings. I just love that Kirkwood has so much to offer! Who doesn’t want free flowers?!

My daughter and I recently attended a Princess Tea Party at the Magic House. It was a lot of fun. Neither one of us have ever been to anything like that before so we really didn’t know what to expect or what it was going to be like.

 We started by going in and getting registered where they gave the kids an autograph book and a paper crown to decorate. They also told us where to go and what our table number was so we knew where to sit. It was kind of crowded, but very well organized.

 We went into the room where the tea party was going to be held and found our table immediately where we sat with three other mothers and daughters. They also had glue sticks, markers, and plastic jewels for the kids to decorate their crowns while we were waiting for the tea party to begin.

 The tea party started by a woman coming out and reading pieces of the Cinderella fairy-tale. She later introduced herself as Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, and all of the little girls got very excited. She then taught everyone the magic words “Bippity Boppity Boo” and brought Cinderella out in her old dress to sing a song for everyone. After her song was over, the fairy godmother told us Cinderella was going to get ready for the ball and to get ready for tea, juice, and snacks. She would then return when we were all finished.

 Every table was assigned a server, and they were all very polite and patient with the little ones running around. We were served our choice of apple juice, water, or hot tea and we each received a small plate with a strawberry and cream scone, a chocolate chip cookie, and a cherry pastry that was catered in from St. Louis Bread Co. Everything was very tasty, and my daughter really enjoyed getting to have a “real” tea party with fancy china, yummy treats, and sugar cubes for her tea.

 After we were finished with our tea and snacks the fairy godmother returned and had everyone say the magic words for Cinderella to come out. All of the little girls were so excited to see Cinderella all dressed up in her ball gown along with Prince Charming all ready for the ball.

 The tea party wrapped up by having Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the fairy godmother walk around for pictures and autographs for the kids autograph books. We were also invited to enjoy the Magic House after the tea party was over.

 This was very fun, and I would recommend it to anyone who has children. My daughter had such a good time, and she is still telling everyone how we met Cinderella!!
