Designed in 1989 by the American architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue (awesome name!) for the private use of the New York-based Cheltenham Press.
Redesigned in 1902 by the American Type Founders' influential Morris Fuller Benton.
Adopted as a headline typeface for The New York Times around 1906.
Digitized in the 70s although with contestable results.
Reworked in 2003 by Matthew Carter for The New York Times.
