The Himalayan (a.k.a. Himalayan Persian, or Colorpoint Persian as it is commonly referred to in Europe), is a breed or sub-breed of long-haired cat identical in type to the Persian, with the exception of its blue eyes and its point coloration, which were derived from crossing the Persian with the Siamese.  There are dozens and dozens of breeds of Himalayan and we decided to grab a whole bunch of them in this photo series.  It’s tough to argue that of all kittens, that Himalayans aren’t one of if not the cutest.  Enjoy the slideshow and be sure to click next on the bottom of each picture to move on in the show!

According to Bedford Today, A feisty feline who enjoys fish and chips, was the runt of the litter and used to live in a pub could be the UK’s oldest cat. Wadsworth, who is also known as Waddy, turned 27 earlier this month. He was adopted by his owner Ann Munday in 1986 from a vet in De Parys Avenue, Bedford. The surgery was then taken over by Acorn House, in Brickhill where Wadsworth has been treated ever since, meaning he has records proving his age.

Ann said: “I’ve always had cats but he’s been really special, he has cost me the earth over the years though. I lost my husband 13 years ago and he was here for as someone to talk to.”  Wadsworth was named named after a beer, and lived at the Horse and Jockey public house before moving to The Blacksmith’s Arms, both in Ravensden, Bedfordshire. Ms. Munday was landlord at both pubs.

27 years old!  That’s pretty amazing.  We sincerely hope that Waddy can make it to 30 and from all of us at Kittentoob we wish Waddy a happy and healthy birthday.  That’s a lot of candles to blow out!  Thanks to Times and Citizen for the pic

Firefighters revived a black cat with oxygen after it was rescued from a house fire in Cole St, Masterton. In this photo, Firefighter Ross Hoare rescues a black cat from a house fire and gives it oxygen to help it recover.  Unfortunately we don’t have many details in terms of the name of the cat or where the cat is being held right now but hopefully its owners are relieved that to know that kitty is doing just fine.

Americans just discovered that cats and dogs are covered under the Affordable Care Act. But the pets are required to have insurance! The United States government considers pets “people” – at least in terms of healthcare. According to the rules and regulations laid out in Obamacare, cats and dogs will receive free healthcare from the government, but they are mandated to carry vet insurance, or else they will have to pay a penalty.

“Cats and dogs cost the healthcare industry a billion dollars a year in healthcare costs,” said Dr. Janice Ross, the White House Advisor in charge of Pet Insurance. ”We decided to include pets in the Affordable Care Act because they are members of the family and should be cared for equal to humans.”

Apparently President Obama only pushed for dogs in the bill but Vice President Biden made the extra push to include cats. As it turns out many cats and dogs out there are getting very upset about having to pay for insurance.

While the care for the animals is “free” it’s really not free as the owners are still paying for insurance. We can’t decide whether or not this is good or bad. What do you guys think? In one sense I’m glad my cat is legally considered part of my family. In the other I hate spending money!

Cats are widely considered by owners to be a solitary species, but this is not so, despite aggression being a common problem in household cats. Observing cats in wild or feral situations in research studies has outlined normal behavior for male and female cats, which is quite a bit different than dogs but highly social and cooperative. In non-home situations, cats tend to choose to live in groups called colonies composed of both male and female individuals. Relationships between cats are highly individual and do not constitute a pecking order of simplified behaviors in response to others. When seeking to improve relationships in the cats in your household, a sense of what resources and resting places are important and valuable to each cat is important in promoting healthy relationships. Each cat relates to each other in unique ways.

What’s important here is that while many of us cat owners enjoy spending time with our cats as amazing pets, they are also creatures that think and behave in distinctive ways.   And with that realization we can come to further understand our cats and how they interact with us.   You’d be surprised at the observations found in cats when being in a group setting as opposed to being alone.   They are much less aggressive towards one another.  Granted they can be aggressive towards a new cat in the group but you’ll start to see behavior in your own felines that will only help your relationship to your own cat.

A 12-year-old cat that was resuscitated by Glendale firefighters during an apartment fire last month is no longer an orphan. At about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the cat, Glinda, was adopted from the Pasadena Humane Society. Ricky Whitman, a spokeswoman for the shelter, said she was unsure whether the new owners had read about her plight. Even so, “She’s on her way home,” Whitman said.

The owners of the black cat, which was found unconscious during the Feb. 18 blaze at the Fort Dearborn Home complex on West Doran Street, did not come forward to claim her, despite, according to fire officials, being contacted.

We’re just happy that Glinda has now found a new home and can be “highly socialized,” as she’s been called, again.   While this story has a great silver lining we can’t help wonder what kind of owners would simply leave their cat and not claim her.  This makes no sense.  Nevertheless, yet another case of great deeds done by both the firefighters as well as new owners.

Aside from my baby boy I find nothing more amusing than when my cat decides to just lounge out by or more to the point on my computer.   They have no regard for personal space right???? Hahaha.  Seriously though it’s absolutely hilarious when one of these critters decides to take their own personal vacation right on your keyboard.   With that in mind we decided to dedicate a whole gallery to cats on computers.  Hope you enjoy!
