I'm laughing really hard in the last photo, because we were trying to snap some pictures in this parking lot with this beautiful brick backdrop, but people kept driving up and asking us if they could park were we were standing. Just as soon as I'd jump onto that cement parking thing, a car would roll down their window and ask, "Can we, ah, park there?" or they'd just stink-eye us from their minivan and slowly creep into the spot.

DIY Pretty Little Hair Bow

1 // Cut a 1-1/4 inch stripe of felt. Then cut that stripe into an 8 inch length and a 6 inch length.

2 // Using fabric glue or a glue gun, run a line of glue along each end.
3 // Fold the ends into the middle to make a bow. It might help to draw a line at the 4 inch mark on the longer stripe and line at the 3 inch mark on the shorter stripe to make a symmetrical bow.
4 // Glue the small bow on top of the larger bow. Cut a small stripe of felt about 1/2 inch wide by 2 inches long to glue over the center.
5 // Using a glue gun, adhere the hair comb to the back of the felt bow.
6 // Cut a small piece of thin apparel-style fabric in a fun pattern or color. Glue the stripe over the hair comb to give it an adorable touch!

A True Love Story

This outfit stole my heart and money. I broke down and went against my shopping diet for this ensemble. Spotting those leopard Steve Madden heels, my heart skipped a beat and I knew -- instantly -- I was doomed. Then, I ran my hands across those black sequin leggings -- it was all over. At least I restrained myself from buying everything in my dressing room. Maybe that makes it a little better, right? Maybe... Well, I'm back on the no-shopping horse now! Wish me luck! I'm going to need it. Going to finish cleansing my wardrobe and hemming/sewing buttons this weekend, I'll update ya'all soon!

I'm still not sure how it's possible I'd never been their until this weekend?? Either way, I'm in love this place! I mean, they have a leopard shoe section! Now, that your wardrobe has been cleansed in Step 1! Step 2 is all about assessing your style foundations and finding where your areas of wardrobe opportunities are. Start by identifying the basics or foundation of your wardrobe. These items are the core of your signature style, everything else in your wardrobe is there to enhance your personal fashion sense. Using the list below as a guide, check off the items you have, what's not crossed off your list are your first priority purchases once your shopping freeze has commenced of course. This list may seem a little strange to create 'future purchases list' during your shopping diet and a little cruel, but it will help you build a quality wardrobe and will make you a smarter, strategic shopper versus impulse, that's-cute shopper! Keep this list in your purse, wallet or phone for reference later. Here's my list of wardrobe basics every girl should own:

SHOPPING DIET // NO. 1 WARDROBE CLEANSE

I have challenged myself for the month of February to a retail shopping diet! I've tried this without success in the past. From those failed shopping diet attempts I've learned a few things, and one being I lacked a plan of attack. So, I've put together a 4-step itinerary for this month-long no shopping journey. I'd love for you to gain me in this adventure! Not the most exciting invite I realize, but your bank account, closet bar, over-stuff dresser drawers -- and in my case, boyfriend -- will be very happy/proud of you in the end! Mainly, I want to prove to myself that I really don't need to shop, even if it's on sale. [Deep breath] Here we go!

Step 1 // Wardrobe Cleanse

If you haven't worn it in two consecutive seasons, toss it or donate it! This means if you have a blazer in your closet that has been resting on its hanger this past fall and the fall before that, it's time to let it go from your wardrobe.

Any pieces that have rips, missing buttons, broken zippers should be tossed. If you decide to keep these items to fix, give yourself a deadline of 1 to 2 weeks to have them repaired, depending on the number of garments. Write this deadline on a calendar! If you or a seamstress haven't fixed the pieces before your deadline, let them go. No excuses. This one's hard for me, because I have a way of saying, "This would look great on me if it was only hemmed a little shorter..." As a result of that pesky little thought, I have a hefty needs-to-be-altered pile barrier in my closet right now! If you love the garment enough you will make your deadline, I promise!

If you are on the fence about pieces, try them on. Now, look at yourself in a full length mirror. Examine the fit of the garment, because fit is truly half of fashion. A poorly fitting garment can make your figure look out of proportion and unpleasant. If it just doesn't look right, let it go. No excuses.

Getting rid of clothes is a hard for thing for most people, because there is usually guilt when you see something you've spent money on, but haven't used to what you deem its full potential. Don't feel bad about getting rid of what you don't need and don't use. Just remember, by getting rid of this clutter in your life you gain a freeing feeling and are open for new things, whether its material or otherwise. In short, less clutter equal less stress! Also, remember -- it's just clothes. Good luck!

I've had this pencil skirt in my closet for almost 2 years and it's not until about a month ago that I fell for it. I'm now very glad during those spring cleaning/wardrobe cleansing sessions that I stuck with my gut and kept it. Those metallic pumps on the other hand are newbies! I scored them on sale at ALDO a couple of weeks ago. Aren't they purdie?

BIRTHDAY PRESENTS!

I'm a very lucky girl this birthday! Joel surprised me with a little jacket shopping spree at Macy's this morning! After trying on a bunch of cozy winter coats, I decided on this baby. Can you believe I don't own one??! I know, I think I'm the only Minnesotan without a black peacoat in my wardrobe -- but not anymore! Yesterday, I drove in the crappy weather to MOA to return a pair of heels to ALDO and left with this adorable bag -- happy birthday to me! Best part is was on sale. I'm a freak for sales, but I also hate them, because I have the ability to justify every purchase. It always starts like this in my head, "It's only..." -- damn that phrase!

Next, I stopped into Michael Kors to window/wishlist shop for a watch. The craziest thing happened... the girl helping me asked if I have a blog. My face went bright red and I laughed, "Yes." She was so sweet and told me she has it bookmarked! I laughed again and said how I'm surprised she even recognized me because I looked like a scrub with not a lick of makeup on and my glasses on. Again the sweetest girl ever, said I looked great. To say the least, she made my day! Actually, more like my month! Off to my b'day celebrations! My body is going to hate me tomorrow. My LP -- life partner, more commonly known as best friend -- has promised me 25 red-headed-sluts tonight in love/retaliation for the many nights at 1:30 I buy these for everyone.

p.s. I think I've fallen in love with a this baby! What do you think? Yay or nay??

My apartment is a disaster! It's just one of those days where you don't want to do anything but snuggle up on the couch with the kitten, munch on junk food and watch some mindless TV. I think I'll just enjoy this nonsense a little longer. Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? JK, well sort of... I did join CorePower yoga last week, which I'm pretty pumped about. I don't want you all thinking I'm a total bum now! I'm going to be a lean, mean, yoga machine before you know it!!

I may be thought of as a girly-girl more often then not, but I have a dear love for menswear -- cue the broken-in red flannel, oversized leather belt, and super dark indigo jeans. To keep from appearing as a long-haired 13-year-old boy, I zipped on a pair of chunky heeled booties and layered some sparkly and gold bracelets. Whoa, that was a close call! Last summer, a group of us spent an entire Saturday enjoying festivities at a Twins game -- a.k.a. beer, beer, jag bomb, beer, beer, pretzel and cheese... By the end of the game I was very happy, intoxicated, and dancing to the music either playing aloud or a track running in my head -- I'm still not sure on that one -- but a concerned mom unrelated to our group came up behind me and asked if I needed help finding my family, because I must have looked like a lost, potentially handicapped child in need of rescuing. Pretty sure I whipped my head back at around at the lady, gave her a serious stink-eye and told her a big, fat "NO!" I'm not sure exactly how that story relates to me smiling in my bedroom getting my lean on, but it's funny, therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to relive this moment in my life for your enjoyment! VINTAGE PHOTO TUTORIAL

Here's a little tutorial on how I process my photos to have a vintage look using ToyCamera AnalogColor...

1. You will need the ToyCamera AnalogColor application -- available for PC and Mac -- and a simple photo editor or Photoshop.
2. Open ToyCamera AnalogColor. Drop and drag your photo onto the empty space.
3. Select PROCESS TYPE 2 and NORMAL LENS and NO FRAME.
4. Adjust your settings to about these amounts:

START: 211
AMOUNT: 47
BLUR: 31
NOIZE: 0
DODGE: 116
COLOR: 0
LEVEL: 1.04
X: 121

You can adjust these settings depending on the lighting of the original photo...

5. When you're happy with your image, click SAVEFILE. Usually the photo is saved under a different filename in the same location to original photo is stored.

6. Open you image in Photoshop or any simple photo editor. Rotate your photo to the proper layout. Save. Then resize as needed. That's it!

Play around with the presets, settings, process types, lens, and frames to get photo effect for your photos... Have fun!

Gosh, I love J. Crew. If I could only shop at one store for the rest of my life it would be -- you guessed it! -- J. Crew. The colors, prints, silhouettes are timeless and they have a petites section! I have been obsessing over this leopard printed top and the matching dress at J. Crew stores since it arrived and apparently the word spread. As I was a lucky girl this Christmas, being gifted this coveted leopard blouse from Joel's parents! I couldn't help myself from jumping up off my chair and giving Joel's mom a big, huge in gratitude. I hope you all had wonderful holiday too!
