I feel exactly the same when it comes to the standard URL segments generated by EPiServer. I've got around this problem by listening to the CreatedUrlSegment event of the URLSegment class and replacing those multi hyphens and lower casing the string. I also remove the segment completely for copied pages, by doing a bit of an ugly check for an 1 on the end, which mean that a page will use the page id as segment until the page is re-published which I feel is a fair trade-off.

Included my code below, but I'm not sure how the comment will treat the code below:

and do I have to add a new template to insert a class that you providing?

Hi Viktor and welcome to the EPiServer family!

Just add the siteMap section directly after in your web.config, you don't need to add a new template to use the provided class. Just create a new class, paste my example code and compile your project. Then you need to add something like this in your web.config:

<pages validateRequest="false" enableEventValidation="false">
    <controls>
        <add tagPrefix="Kloojed" namespace="your namespace" assembly="your assemblyname" />
    </controls>
</pages>

That should be all, good luck!

Adding the references worked!

Now I can't find any albums or files in IVFileData. I do get an RootAlbumID, but everything else seems empty. When I try to get a file I get an access denied message: IVFileData pic = IVDataFactory.GetFile(10); Is that the reason why the file collection is empty?

If you want to show all files from ImageVault you could use the overload for GetFiles which takes a third argument. So your code should look something like this:

IVDataFactory.GetFiles(IVDataFactory.RootAlbumId, true, IVAccessLevel.IgnoreAccess)

or you could set the access rights on the album so everyone has access to your files. For more information about the api check out the sdk on Meridium.se.

I have inserted an EPiServer Page Template and then added at the top of the page: using ImageStoreNet; using ImageVault.EPiServer5; But then these namespace values are not found. Am I missing an directive?

I wouldn't recommend not doing it the way you are doing. It forces the developer to make changes in the global.asax file, which isn't always possible. Especially if you are producing a plug-in or something that is to be distributed. A better way is to use PropertyDataControlAdapter and then set up the "override" in the browser capabilities file. Just an idea... If you don't like the adapter way, you could ccreate a class inheriting from PlugInAttribute and use its Start method to register your control. This will also solve the whole Global.asax problem...

Well you could to that but I would recommend you to use the API when working with images in ImageVault.
