Last night, KMP Blog was invited to come check out the new Intuit TurboTax Flagship store here in NYC (SoHo). This store opening is one of the nationwide launches of nearly 600 expert offices and 20 TurboTax stores delivering year-round (not just during tax season), but year-round services; helping you handle your finances and maximizing your money outcomes.

Last night’s launch opening celebration was more than an experience but also joined the celebration was cultural icon, the realest and coolest person, Issa Rae. Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, Aaron Judge, and other special guests were also in attendance. During the celebration, a $100,000 donation was made to NYC Public Schools to help students learn more about financial literacy. 

Before I share some of the coolest moments from last night’s event, let me tell you a bit more about Intuit TurboTax. Intuit Inc. is the global financial technology platform that makes Intuit TurboTax, CreditKarma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp; a lot of the great programs/applications we already use. Yesterday, a very spacious, relaxing, welcoming TurboTax flagship store opened up in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood (463 Broadway). The store will be uniting AI and human expertise to reinvent in-person tax filing nationwide. Intuit is creating a system of intelligence that anticipates consumer needs, automates the tedium of tax preparation, giving customers the confidence they need based on their unique tax situation. Intuit’s consumer platform actively works in the filers’ best interest to find them more money, easier, and faster.

Speaking of tax-related stress and anxiety, did I mention the ambience of this place is very relaxing? As you walk in, there’s a couch area where you can sit and start your tax preparation process. As you sit in this area, you are immersed in a sound bath ambience to help you relax and release any stress. This place is like a mini productive wellness spa. Who would’ve thought of a sound bath while doing taxes?! Amazing!

In addition, listening to Issa’s fireside conversation last night brought up some relatable financial mishaps from my late 90s and early 2000s, like signing up for a credit card for a free T-shirt in college. Listen to her story in the video clip below.

As part of the grand opening last night, Intuit is reinforcing its investment in the NYC community and the next generation of filers. Intuit announced a $100,000 donation to NYCPS. This contribution will provide students with the resources to develop financial literacy, capability, and confidence for personal and professional success.

TurboTax is opening stores in key markets across the country to bring local experts’ assistance within reach of millions of filers. Up to 20 stores will open in advance of the tax deadline in the following areas:

This event was very motivating and inspiring, especially listening to Issa Rae’s fireside conversation and learning that not everyone has it together at the beginning, and we will trip and get back up again. In times like these, we are now provided with even more resources than before. Dr. Samtani’s research, along with a recent global study of over 40,000 people across 14 countries, found that those who maintained regular social interactions cut their risk of developing dementia in half, with evidence showing that strong social connections can even slow cognitive decline after diagnosis. This critical finding provides the scientific foundation for the trip’s key beats, including the following:

• Reminiscence Therapy: revisiting past experiences by talking to someone about them, using objects from the past (like photos or home videos), or visiting places from the past is a great way to boost cognition.
• Social Connection: regular interactions, like talking with a friend or having a confidante, are shown to reduce the risk of early mortality.
• Social Bridging: participating in wider community activities, like volunteering or group walks, is linked to slower rates of cognitive decline.

“My Dad and I had always spoken about taking a trip back to the Northern Territory, where our family had lived years ago, but we had never been able to set aside the time to actually do it,” said Chris Hemsworth. “More recently the idea of taking that road trip reemerged with more pressing importance. From DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios heads Peter Safran and Gunn produced the film, which Gunn directs from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

• On August 15, Superman will be available Digitally at home on participating digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Fandango at Home, and more.

Rudy Youngblood, the Oscar-nominated star of Apocalypto, has been cast as Nico Cortez in La Matadora, a romantic epic set in 1940s Mexico that has already drawn attention across the country and is positioning itself for global audiences.

Youngblood, who stunned audiences with his breakout role as Jaguar Paw in Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto,  a performance that earned him his first Oscar nomination, is expected to deliver another unforgettable portrayal in La Matadora. 

Set in 1940s Mexico, La Matadora follows Isabel Fernández, a groundbreaking bullfighter who challenges tradition and takes her place in a male-dominated arena.

Youngblood will play Nico Cortez, a painter drawn to Isabel’s defiance and spirit, whose relationship with her forces him into a journey of passion and self-discovery. She, meanwhile, redefines herself in the bloodstained sand of the Plaza de Toros, where one wrong move could mean death – and where love, too, becomes a dangerous game.

The film was conceived by Richard Maldonado, Rubio’s nephew, and penned by T.C. Dewett, whose script pulses with Mexican pride, bold femininity, and timeless romance. 

The film is slated to begin production in Fall 2025. The producing team includes executive producers Kevin Kinsey and Exodus Entertainment Studios, along with Lyle Howry and Skinfly Entertainment.

But JAWS @ 50 is more than a behind-the-scenes doc; it’s a celebration of a legacy that fueled a global shark obsession and inspired generations of scientists, storytellers and ocean defenders. Through thoughtful conversations with leading marine advocates and scientists—including Philippe Cousteau, Candace Fields, Austin Gallagher, Gibbs Kuguru, Dr. John Mandelman (New England Aquarium), National Geographic Explorer and photographer Brian Skerry, Dr. Greg Skomal and others—the documentary explores how “Jaws” reshaped our relationship with the ocean and helped transform public perception of sharks, turning fear into fascination and sparking real-world conservation efforts that continue today.

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s new vision of fear, “Sinners,” debuts Digitally at home on June 3.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Ryan Coogler, director of “Black Panther” and “Creed” and starring Michael B. Jordan, the critically acclaimed film has a “certified fresh” 97% Rotten Tomatoes score and is among the highest grossing horror movies of all time with a global box office of more than $316 million. “Sinners” posted the largest opening for an original film since “Us” was released in 2019 and is the only horror film in over 35 years to receive an “A” CinemaScore.

• On June 3, “Sinners” will be available Digitally at home on participating digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Fandango at Home, and more.

• On July 8 “Sinners” will be available to own on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD from online and physical retailers. “Sinners” will also continue to be available in high definition and standard definition from participating digital retailers.

Written and directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Coogler, “Sinners”stars Jordan in a dual role, joined by Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.

The film is produced by Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Ryan Coogler. The executive producers are Ludwig Göransson, Will Greenfield and Rebecca Cho.

Coogler’s behind-the-camera artisans include his “Black Panther”franchise collaborators: director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. “Sinners” will be presented with expanded aspect ratio sequences, allowing consumers to see both 1.78:1 and 2.76:1 aspect ratios, as intended by the filmmaker for home viewing.

Synopsis

Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.
